➵ Eden Beauregard of District One
➵ Location: Careers' Camp
➵ Tagged: Careers
Eden turned his back on Madeline to demonstrate how little he cared for this nonsense. With her cruel bout of laughter, he saw for himself just how heartless his "childhood friend" was. The sheer disappointment was enough to break his heart. Until Madeline was ready to apologize - and Eden doubted she ever would be - he had no interest in speaking to her except on business terms.
Both District Four tributes also seemed irritated. Killick approached Chaska to stand guard in silence, while Caspia expressed her frustrations vocally as she returned with the first aid kit. Eden smiled at her in gratitude. The District Four girl was doing her best.
"Thank you, Caspia. Um..." Still applying pressure to the wound, Eden opened the little box with his free hand. An overwhelming variety of little items was crammed inside. He told himself to stay calm, think clearly, and... there! Eden found the packets of gauze pads and ripped one open. All the pads and wipes in the kit were dry, though. Turning to Caspia, he asked, "Did you use the water purifier last night? I need to clean the wound before I dress it up, and fresh water is the best option right now."
Despite his calm voice, Eden's heart was pounding. At least Gloria looked a little better off judging from that smile.
➵ Reyna Byrne of District Twelve
➵ Location: North
➵ Tagged: Sharnaz, Darius
"A tent! We should take it." Reyna couldn't help but smile. Not only would it make those pesky kids easier to spot, it'd also serve them well as a shelter afterwards. They'd never need the dreaded waterfall cave again. Of course, Reyna was too stupid to realize the huge flaw in her idea. Once the Careers found the plundered tent, they'd realize Reyna and Sharnaz were behind those children's deaths.
Sharnaz's warning about being careful flew right over her head. Reyna didn't care about that stuff, her small brain had limited vacancy. Only room for one thing: violence and destruction. (That's two things, but Reyna is also bad at math.)
Despite her stupidity, Reyna stopped when she heard voices in the distance. Arguing. With an excited look at Sharnaz, Reyna crouched low in the grass and watched the action unfold. Those District Seven tributes were alone now, and it seemed they were approaching a small camp. Reyna had to bite back a giggle as a white-haired tribute - Eden? - charged towards the dude in an 'attack'.
"Looks like Sienna and her friend decided to fight the Careers," Reyna whispered, getting it all wrong. She pointed to the tribute she thought was Eden. "A shame. I wanted to be the one to kill that crybaby, but looks like District Seven beat me to it."
➵ Himaya Hannock of District Eleven
As Himaya ate breakfast with her girlfriend, she looked over at the television. The Capitol announcer was recapping the early morning's events. Turns out Zoe's alliance had dispersed, which Himaya took as a good sign. Sienna and Moses were district partners, and it seemed they'd known each other before the Hunger Games. Now they were gone, leaving the District Eleven girl with a few parting gifts. Maybe it was for the best. Himaya honestly felt Zoe was safer this way - remaining in that alliance could have dangerous consequences later on.
As for Rieka, she was in luck. Jillian had scrounged up some sponsorship money for the kid. The contents of the present were apparently "a surprise", though - she wouldn't even tell her girlfriend!
