man this thread is a reality check for me. I haven't even read the whole thread though I'm sure countless good points have been made...I miss the excitement I had for the site back in 2014 and beyond, and when I grew out of being a COPPA and could finally post in the forums, and how much fun the events were, especially summer. it just doesn't have the same spark anymore...part of it is probably me growing out of it but it really isn't what it once was and that's kinda hard for me to admit :^/ I agree with what's been said so far (or at least the parts I read), that something has got to change...after being a member for so long it's really sad to see it dying like this

At first glance, I completely disagreed with the thought of “selling CS”. However, I read on. I didn’t even need to read the entire thing to realise what this means. I still am fairly new to CS. I’ve been on for less than a year, however I already understand how others are troubled by things here. I can already see the troubles going on.

I love CS with all my heart. Users who have given up some of their time to gift me, chat with me and just generally being nice to me always makes me feel all warm and gooey inside at times, and I always loved the chats I had with users, friends and strangers alike. It inspired me, gave me many happy memories, and an escape from the world when I needed it most. I don’t want to see CS die or be sold to someone who may change it completely. I agree with hiring a team of coders and a team for the suggestion forum. I agree that staff and users should communicate more. I agree with the website needing more updates. I agree with this post.

In my opinion, I think CS should undergo some big changes and new features, as well as more communication. If the staff just don’t have the time for that, that’s perfectly understandable. Staff, (General Helpers, Admins, Admin Assistants, Artists, Guest Artists, Moderators, Roleplay Moderators, Oekaki Moderators, Other Staff Members, Retired Staff and everything in between), you are incredible people, and we all admire your kindness, patience and everything you do. We all love you because you are insanely amazing people. And we understand that you may not have the time to make big updates here. We all have lives outside CS, of course. But if you can’t give the site the changes it needs, then hand it down to a willing member of staff or someone you KNOW will make this site the heartwarming and lovely site this once was for some people.

Also, you are all amazing, staff and users alike, thank you for being so kind and loving and I hope you are staying safe & well. Whoever is reading this, I love you and I’m sending you all my love your way. ❤️❤️❤️

I haven't read the entire thread but looking at the front I can formulate some opinions and throw some support behind suggestions.

Inconsistency with rules? Yes.
I have stated before (and had the comment deleted) that tracing in of itself is not art theft.When money comes into account, there it might be a problem, but creative commons still exists. Potential art theft are ruled on a case by case basis so stating tracing is art theft is disingenuous. Stating that no tracing is allowed due to site policy is fine. I made one post stating this and it was deleted.

Other observations I've made have been over censorship. Apparently nude topless female furries are not allowed. I saw someone's furry art that showed the contours of the characters body to show the wight. The lines were extremely simple and they were given a warning to "cover" the character up. The artist then just put two curved lines to indicate clothing.
This brings up two things, one being that the artists may have actually been aware of the rule and thought it didn't matter since the lines were so simple and indicated no details. Two being it wasn't actual nudity being covered up, but the idea of it. The two lines changed nothing. Maybe the rules weren't actually broken and only detailed nudity needs to be covered up.

There does seem to be lack of communication among the staff as some as stated such. I don't really think it's needed for the site admins to communicate to the player base. It would be neat, but I don't think it's needed.

I don't think the site needs games or anything "more" to do. More of what it already has would be great. New artists were hired and some were specifically for items, but I have seen less items and less quality pertaining to them and it's pretty disappointing. I like how simple the site is and that's the reason I have stuck with it over dragoncave or flight rising.

Unless Chicken Smoothie is using personal information from children for business reasons, there is no need for it. Chicken Smoothie is no different from other adoptable sites. The inclusion of an "18+" forum comes off as weird and kind of creepy. I looked at it before and there's nothing "18+" about it, but it being labeled as that is off putting. I've never seen another adoptable site like that. My last point will tie into this and I don't think CS needs to be sold, I think it needs to be rebranded. The censorship is ridiculous and inconsistent. The squashing out and silencing of people opinions because they're the unpopular one is not needed. If anything I feel the direction of the site is what chases people away.

not sure where you got that information? you can get banned for scamming users out of their pets, but not for unfair trades/ninjaing. if you send an unfair trade and tell your trading partner that it’s fair when it’s not and they accept, then it’s scamming and a bannable offense. if you send an unfair trade and say nothing about fairness and they accept, but you know it’s unfair, it’s ninjaing. two different things.

I'm currently reading this whole thread and it was mentioned on the first few pages. Maybe it's simply not true, but I have anxiety disorder and very quickly fall into paranoid and avoidant behaviour, so I did drastically change my trade rules now.

COPPA applies to all websites that are directed towards children, which CS certainly is.

COPPA considers enabling children to share their information by giving them free reign on a forum the same thing as scooping up their data.

Enabling a child to make personal information publicly available in identifiable form. An operator shall not be considered to have collected personal information under this paragraph if it takes reasonable measures to delete all or virtually all personal information from a child's postings before they are made public and also to delete such information from its records

This is what chicken smoothie does. We moderate COPPA posts in the oekaki board and dress up board before they are made public. We cannot do that for the entire site though as there would simply be too many posts.

Most sites solve the COPPA issue by simply banning users under 13 (in all countries), or disallowing anyone to use custom chats in their game (or making that a premium feature with perental consent.) I would much rather keep the system we have now then simply yeet all the children off, when a large part of CS has nothing to do with posting.
