oh boy, im both coming on here to put in my two cents and mark this because i've been wanting to put in my thoughts
i originally thought this form was a joke, im so glad it's not

ive been on this site for 11 years. ive watched the rise of chicken smoothie, and when they started to decline, and that was around the time they rolled out the "one photo per roleplay application" rule that NO ONE ON THIS SITE asked for. people started arguing it, but when you own a game this big, you dont listen to the overall player base, you listen to your favorites, which leads me into my biggest problem with this site i will NEVER live down.

a massive problem on this site is the favoritism that mods have. every single one of them has this problem, and i'll be happy to take replies to this. i could LINK the players that are well known in certain forms and EACH spot theyve ever broken a rule, but when i do it, or a newer player breaks a rule, we IMMEDIATELY get a message telling us we've earned a point and we need to take whatever it is down. i have countless pms from mods telling me to take down multiple photos out of my roleplay posts, but i could LINK the COUNTLESS forms that have pictures EVERYWHERE that mods will overlook because theyre either besties with the roleplayer, or theyve chatted with them in the past

on top of that, let's not forget that you 'cant have 'adult' in your signature' but i see it ALL of the time in signatures that belong to well known players, and that's not even something ive ever understood. being an adult means you are 18 or older, we have a forum that is literally called "Adults Discussion 18+" so why can't i put that in my signature? if im already posting there, what's the problem? i could be ANYWHERE from 18 to over 120 years old, it doesn't narrow me down anywhere. but well known players can put in their signature that they're 18+ and a sophomore in college!! but that's a whole other rant

it's not hard to find on tumblr the favoritism with mods on this site too - i've read somewhere that they dont actually look through mod applications, they choose their besties so they can have a close group of mods and pick and choose who they want to enforce the rules with, and who they want to look away from.

this site has become a joke. it absolutely needs a revamp.

^^^

Now this is something that I did not know. I've had that I'm an 'adult' in my signature for about 6 months now, heck, I even said that I'm 21+ and no one has ever batted an eye or said anything to me about it. I'm going to change that now if it's a rule but I can see where you're coming from as a member of this supposed 'ignored' or 'favorited' userbase (even though I'm sure no one's noticed me, so I'm a part of the former.)

Re: Tess, I think it's appropriate to wonder where she is in this conversation, but it's always going to boil down to tone. I get (oh boy trust me do I ever get) that people are frustrated, but size 150 text doesn't exactly scream respectful debate ;)

SO ANYWAYS, moving on:
RangerTheCowpony wrote:I think we need more things to do on CS. I’ve been here only since April, and I’m already bored of the main site. I’m only really here for user made adopts and the community itself. I feel like more stimulation, such as some real games that you can play with CS friends, or even just new linearts for pets and events, could be very beneficial for the community. CS needs to get itself out there more, to more people as well. We need new players to replace the constant stream of older ones retiring.

While I definitely see the need for more updates, I actually wouldn't want to see games or interactive elements added to CS. While these work on other pet adoptable sites, its unique structure and lack of these games is what sets CS apart from the pack (in my opinion, this is hella subjective!). I'd honestly want quality of life updates before anything else, and perhaps expanded events or elements that mimick the mechanics of existing events.

For example, if we really wanted a new interactive element a wandering trader type set up might work. Perhaps you could hunt tokens and trade these in for random items or pets? This would be using mechanics that already exist on CS rather than adding in new ones through a bunch of games.

Again tho, this is just my opinion!

You can't put ANY age in your signature.
That's a fairly new rule, but anyone can post in the 18+ forum no matter their age.
You can however list your zodiac animal and it's pretty easy to guess exact age with that since there's a 12 year gap between them.

I think this is a misunderstanding honestly! I read on the rules that ‘adult’ is allowed but not 18+!!! The difference is that if everyone puts 18+ in their signature that some people might put 16+ (which kinda just means 16 or 17) or 13+ which kinda says (13-15) and these are sharing quite a bit of information! So that’s why

Just wanted to clarify, you can say you are an adult. The issue is when people use age+ to show their age. We had a huge problem with this (warning someone for age sharing for their own safety and they just added a plus to it rather than remove it). We updated the rules with more examples after that: Forum/viewtopic.php?f=119&t=135242 But to be fair we must disallow 18+ specifically because it was also used in this way, even though it also just means “adult.”

The main reason roleplay images were restricted is because of the concerns with copyright infringement. Despite our best efforts and guides, many people don’t understand the rules surrounding using photos from the internet (though art often makes more sense to them). CS is responsible for what is posted on site even if a user posted it. In order to decrease load on our moderators and make things easier to moderate so we didn’t have to deal with copyright claims from the people who actually own these photos, these rules were put in place. If you see rule breaking please report it and it will be removed. Warnings and PMs or private so you have no way to know if someone else was in fact contacted. It is not our intention to play favorites, we just cannot see everything and we need the community’s help. So please, help us if you can.

Having "adult" in your signature is fine. Having a specific age, like 21+, is against the rules because it is an age range. Maybe that's something we can work on rewording or making clearer with the rule update. ^^ Lacuna beat me to it!

Remember that you are not aware of what actions have been taken against another user; you have no way of knowing whether they received a warning for something as this information is confidential between user and staff, and if something is being ignored by staff then it likely hasn't been seen. You can help us out by reporting anything that breaks our rules and it will be handled as soon as possible. We do not make exceptions or pick favorites.

If you have complaints about a specific staff member, you are always welcome to submit a ticket to someone higher up. All staff members are expected to act the same and if there are discrepancies there, it may be something that needs to be addressed - but we have no way of knowing this if it is never brought to our attention other than a random comment in a thread.

In response to the claims of favoritism!

As someone who's in a discord with a lot of close friends, I've seen many of them be warned for something and seen someone who broke the same rule or worse walk away without consequence.. but you have to remember that staff (claim) to look at the person's past as well. If you're known to the staff in a negative way, it's harder as a human being to be more lenient, whereas if you know someone in an only positive light, it's harder to be stern. It may sound obvious, but if you've been punished for something and see someone who's committed the same offence but is still unwarned, have you reported them? If you don't report someone for breaking the rules, nothing will be done about it.

But then there's the issue of punishments not being the same to members even if the crime is the same; some mods will give a board warning and that's the end of it, nothing can change their mind.. Some will listen and talk through said warning.. But if you apologise to others they may even lift the warning.

Its probably not the example sforzndo. meant exactly, but it can feel a lot like favoritism. As a moderator of a discord server I can understand staffs pov on cs, it's hard to be strict on your friends and warn them when they break the rules, but at the end of the day punishment should be the same no matter who's dealing it out. Unless that user is a serial offended, then its easy to get angry and be harsher on them.

That being said, though I see where staff come from, as a player who used to be a handful and a half of trouble we had our good times, 'eh admins? >:') there comes a point where you will see favouritsm. It's human nature. But instead of getting angry and venting to others, take time to try and see where said mod is coming from and try to speak to them about it, if they make you angrier or feel worse then reach out to another mod, there are some genuine stars in CS mod team who are easy to talk to and super nice, like Lacuna for example! The red name tag may be intimidating, but she's a wholesome Kryptonian Jedi really. :') When talking to mods, don't complain about their fellow or slate them in any way, express anger but do it.. gently. When I spoke to another about what I was feeling it made me feel better to have shared, to know that not all mods are the same and that sometimes the problem really is us and not them.

So uhh.. I hope I didn't miss your point and helped clear things ups a little
