โชJust as he was every dawn, Pantherfang was sat at the edge of camp, his thick, bushy
tail primly curled around his paws as he watched the colors of twilight shift and change
into the magnificent watercolor streaks of dawn. He always found it to be the most
peaceful time of day, a few moments to himself before the clan buzzed to life, and a
chance to formulate his plan of attack for the day. On this particular morning, the tom
entertained the idea of an intermediate assessment for his apprentice, Shadypaw. The

younger tom was certainly showing promise in his training, though if anything that meant he should be challenged even more. But what could properly challenge his apprentice at this point in his training? Overstepping his apprentice's skills might discourage the younger tom, but providing an underwhelming task might make him brash.
โชThe tom pulled himself out of his wondering state to focus his attention on the warriors slowly coming to life around him. He spotted Taigapine across camp and, for a heartbeat, he considered approaching the molly with an offer to help gather herbs. In the eyes of Starclan, the two were mates, though neither really treated their relationship as much more than a close friendship. He was certainly not afraid to admit he admired the silvery medicine cat, though he was much more hesitant to recognize that part of him loved her. He knew that Taigapine did not agree with Starclan's assignments, and he was not about to deny her that freedom.

and plainly unpleasant about leaving the cozy warmth and comfort of her nest to begin
another long day of duties. Perhaps it wasn't the waking up that she despised so much
as the lack of regularity and habit. She had no apprentice to train, and her mate was
more often than not occupied with his many responsibilities. To say she found herself to

be mind-numbingly bored much too frequently was quite the understatement. So there was hardly any reason for her to force herself out of her nest before dawn.
โชStoneheart found herself often using this sequence of thoughts to justify why she still lay curled up in her nest well beyond the acceptable time, watching the den slowly empty through her hardly-open pale yellow eyes. On one paw, she hated the lazy procession of her mornings for the unfulfilled and, on occasion, outright depressed feeling it gave her. On the other, she enjoyed the lack of stress that stemmed from the events that often accompanied patrols. Some sort of middle ground would be her heaven, though she wasn't quite sure what that would entail.
โชWith a strained sigh, the grey molly rose from her nest. Scraps of moss still clung to her longer fur, but they were easily taken care of by a strong shake. Though she was working herself up, her pawsteps were sluggish. These mornings were a struggle no matter how often they occurred.

the lean black tom taking an early start on his duties. This morning, that appeared as the tom
creeping silently through the woods as dawn's rosy fingers stretched across the sky. The scent of
a squirrel hung in the air, growing stronger each time he drew in a breath on his search for the
potential piece of prey.

โชAt last, he seemed to have found the little creature. It gnawed triumphantly on a fallen acorn, perched daintily on the gnarled root of a towering tree. Blackfox flattened himself to the forest floor, feeling his belly brush the sparse grass as he prowled towards his target. When he was a foxlength or so away, he tightened his muscles and leapt forward with his claws outstretched. His claws and fangs sank into the squirrel's little body, eliciting an abrupt shriek from the squirrel. Blackfox silenced it with a swift bite to the throat. A small wave of pride rushed through his veins as he examined the catch. It wasn't a large squirrel, but it was rather plump. The perfect size for him to bring back to Honeycloud.
โชThere were hardly a pawful of cats that Blackfox would confide in. To even fewer would he admit to loving Honeycloud as much as he does. Still, that did not stop him from setting aside the most appetizing catch of his morning hunts, or paying exceptional attention to the quality and state of the moss that made up her nest in the nursery. With his head held high, he gathered his previous few catches - a few scrappy mice - and began the trotting return to camp.

But by no means is she a polite sleeper, evident by her short limbs stretching as far across the
apprentice den as they possibly could. In fact, she did just about anything that would drive
her denmates insane except snore, something she always used to defend herself. It could be
worse, you know! she would always chirp to her fellow apprentices as they each tossed her a

(hopefully) friendly glare.
โชAt last, she decided that she had spent enough time lazing about. The little tabby rolled herself off of her back and out of her nest. With a ferocious yawn, she began the plod into camp to search for her mentor.
