the pokémon world has always been marred
by evil teams. of course, at the end of the day,
good prevails over evil. the region's team is
ultimately crushed by good, and the day is saved.
... right?
the team rocket organization has devised a new
plan to ensure that their plans won't be foiled
again. representatives of each region's villainous
teams will merge to form team rainbow rocket,
to ensure the takeover of the pokémon world
by capturing kanto's very own mewtwo for gain.
but, getting them to work together might be
harder than anyone anticipated. mostly
because they're good at capturing pokémon!
but, they're bad at, well... being bad.

xxx"there will be a place for you all to stay as well, but don't dwell on this. you are sent here for a mission, not a team builder," the rocket boss gestures to a map before handing off to kokui, "i want you there as soon as possible. don't mess this up for us."

xxx“yes, sir.” he says, trying his hardest to steel himself and seem dependable.

xxxescorted by his boss, he exits the offices through the back entrance of the rocket hideout and loops round the alleyway, he receives the coordinates to the site the team has set up, and releases dragonite as his mode of transport. pulling at the ends of his jacket strings, he stays silent and surveys the rocket grunts nearby. it’s not hard to pretend that he doesn’t recognize the laminated floors and high windows; he’s only ever been an unimportant grunt, and now he’s seeing things through the eyes of someone who matters.

xxxthe boss sends him off with little fanfare to a seemingly unimportant location in kanto's very own cerulean city. the members of the makeshift 'rainbow rocket' were to meet there before being sent off to the last known location of mewtwo. hopefully, his peers wouldn't be too terrible. after all, it would take an elite group to take down a pokémon as powerful as mewtwo. no ten year-old trainer could waltz up to mewtwo and expect to capture it, right? it would fight, snarl, and use its psychic powers to blow away anything that stood in its path. mewtwo's raw power was the secret to controlling the whole pokémon world, and nothing would stop ko from harnessing it.

xxxwith that in his mind, he takes to the sky on dragonite's back.

xxxonce he’s alone again, kouki feels like he’s going to be sick. everything in the past year has led to this moment, and he doesn’t know how to deal with it; he always imagined that he could channel the inner 'team rocket' angst from the moment he walked through the team rocket office doors, that he’d be irresistible, people would gravitate towards him. he’d even dyed his hair a darker shade to give him an extra edge. with his excellent standings in the team, and his trusty persian at his side, it was an obvious choice to recruit him for the boss' very special mission. and now, finally, it had culminated in this. he couldn’t mess it up. he was going to be the best damn trainee that team rocket had ever seen. for the first time in his life, he would be worth something.

xxxko isn't even sure what he wants any more. fame, fortune, to be a good person. they all blur into one. the only thing he knows is that he destiny lies with team rocket, as if his fate will always find him in some form of spotlight. to be someone worth remembering, akin to his boss giovani and the slew of other team leaders. the rest, although still inspirational, just don’t leave the same itching drool in his mouth when he imagines how he, too, will become nothing but a story that can’t stop being told.

xxxwrapped in his own thoughts, he almost misses cerulean city from above. ko hastily calls for dragonite to return back to land, and the dragon gives a lazy call in response as he nosedives towards the town. the two of them reach the seaside city as inauspiciously as they can. as far as anybody knows, kouki is just another traveler in the town- not a remnant of the now subsided team rocket, hungry for more power. the dragonite waits at ko's side for the others, but eventually grows bored after waiting all of two seconds for others to appear. with a claw, he prods at ko's side to reach for his pokégear.

xxx"i swear, you're addicted to screens." ko huffs, but eventually gives in. the dragonite happily grabs the device to play whatever game his trainer had on it. despite his disdain for his dragonite's childish behavior, ko finds himself looking over the dragonite's shoulder, in an attempt to discreetly watch whatever he was playing.

it was a rough week for elias. he had a bad start from a lack of sleep from the previous week and a bunch of miscellaneous task he
had to work through. even though he wasn't a low-level grunt he still was visited by one of the admins with tasks they didn't have ti
me to complete. it did irritate elias to some extent but he didn't have room to complain if he wanted to continue to climb the rank
s. so he spent a lot of the night working on the tasks and missing out on sleep he so desperately needed. then after feeling like the
life had been drained from his mother had called. elias loved his mother but whenever she called it was always a rough time. she
was a woman with a mission on calls. she was ruthless to elias and practically scolded him the whole time. it drained the energy ri
ght out of elias and left him feeling lifeless. then to top the week off his gabite was being a royal pain and refusing to evolve prope
rly, leaving elias with a bratty dragon type. it made his time training his team a living hell. with a dragon type who refused to follo
w orders setting an example for his youngest member-rogelio, his riolu. having to watch the riolu copy the dragons movement made
elias want to bash his head into a wall. if he ended up with a stubborn lucario... he'd have to enlist his pokemon in the same militar
y bootcamp he was put through. living hell basically.

the man was approached by one of the admins of the team, saturn, he felt himself start to groan. but he kept his face straight and
greeted the admin with the respect she deserved. "listen, elias, we have a task for you. cyrus wants you to be a representative for
our team for a group. team rainbow rocket. cyrus trust you to represent the team properly. he's ordered for you to use a staraptor
as a mode of transportation to meet in cerulean city." elias let out a curt nod in understanding before moving out of the way and l
etting saturn pass. 'great. just what I needed.' there wasn't much elias needed to deal with before he left so he started on his way
out of the base. he wasn't entirely sure where he would be meeting the staraptor that would be his mode of transportation, but it
was safe to say it would be someplace outside. a quick left turn and the front entrance was easily seen. he slipped outside with lit
tle distraction and his eyes immediately landed on the large bird standing next to one of the other admins, mars. she simply hande
d the staraptor's lead to elias before making her way back inside. he rolled his eyes before quickly hopping onto the bird and adjust
ing himself before watching the staraptor nod and start to take off. "we're going to cerulean city. it'll be a long journey but i'll make
sure you're rewarded afterward." the bird only let out a caw before he made it to the desired height and started his long flight...

okay so it was a boring and long flight, but somehow the bird was able to fight through it with ease. it was impressive. as the duo la
nded elias dismounted swiftly and ran his hand over the birds' head. but before elias could even get some sort of treat for the bird h
e started to take off again, cawing in annoyance before he left as soon as he came. elias stood there dumbfounded for a moment b
efore shrugging and pulling out the pokeball of his trusty luxray, ranger. the bright light was quick to come and go and was replaced
with the large and intimidating lion. he let out a soft purr before blinking the sleep away from his eyes. he let out a curious growl b
efore noticing where they were. ranger was in the same boat as elias with the rough week and was lacking just as much sleep as eli
as was. the duo started to walk around the town, looking at the buildings with curiosity. they hadn't gone far from sinnoh during the
ir whole time with team galactic so it was a nice change of scenery for them. the luxray lowered his head as his eyes scanned the a
rea, scaring a few of the younger trainers, looking for any threats. it wasn't until the luxray's eyes landed on the tall dragon figure n
ext to a trainer did he let out a soft growl. elias glanced at ranger before looking up to see what he was growling at. elias let out a
scoff before swatting at his ears in annoyance. "be nice."
