Kunal was still lazily throwing berries into his mouth and wasn’t quite perfect at it yet after years of practice. “Shoot!” he exclaimed as he watched his delicious snack stolen by gravity. The berry landed just in front of the new, dark intruder who then looked up and spotted Kunal. “Shoot…” he hissed under his breath at being spotted. The dark keldine wasn’t surprised at all. He knew there was a keldine living in this forest from the rumors behind it, but he didn’t expect it to be a lazy purple kel sitting in a tree. He was thinking something more… mysterious.
“I think you dropped something?” the dark keldine called up to Kunal while he picked up the berry. Kunal, stunned that the stranger wasn’t running for his life like everyone else, squinted back at him.
“Yeah well…” Kunal looked the single horned keldine up and down, looking for an insult. “Well I don’t think you belong here, unicorn.”
“Tch, as if! At least it’d be a more interesting spirit to guard this forest than you, you big purple bat.” Kunal, offended swooped down to square up with him.
“My name is Kunal. You better leave. And I am not a bat! You wish you had wings like these, unicorn.”
“I’ve heard you can’t escape this forest and make use of those wings, so why would I be jealous when I have my freedom? You don’t scare me. My name is Mael and I’ve come here looking for dark magic. I want to know what makes keldines vanish here.” The cogs in Kunal’s brain begin to turn. This could be his way out he thought. If he could just make the spirit so fed up with him teaching Mael the secrets of the forest, they might just let him go!
“Heh… I can show you some magic…” Kunal snickered as he motioned for Mael to follow him.
You are Kunal. Friends with the strange unicorn-esque keldine, Mael. You will teach him the mysteries of the forest to try anger your manager, the forest spirit, and escape this wooded prison. This is the beginning of a new friendship, and a story for another time.
