Bought a cavesson for the horse I'm leasing. I'm not using it for its original purpose though. I'm going to attach a throat latch and use it as a bridle (bitless). For those of you who don't know, cavessons are used to clamp a horse's mouth shut so that they can't get away from the pain bits cause. If they open their mouths enough, the rider can't use pain compliance in that area anymore, and that's all most 'equestrians' know how to use. I do not agree with bits in the slightest, and refuse to use one on any horse. Cavessons have an adjustable noseband, so I can make it loose like a halter, instead of tight so she can't open her mouth.
