Tumblebranch looked away sheepishly as Leafpelt said that she could hear them. Of course she could, they realised, and it wasn't really polite to talk about someone like they weren't there. Oops. At least they hadn't said anything rude. "The moors sounds fine." They said. Maybe it was early enough that rabbits would still be in their dens.

He stopped and turned to face his apprentice. "So if I'm a warrior fighting you, and you want to get away, you should swipe at my paws, try to knock me off my feet. Ready to try?"

"Oh, she says she's doing good!" Oakpoppy said to Bramblefrost. She was always happy to talk about her kit. "It was pretty lucky that she was chosen to be the deputy's apprentice. I think she'll make a fine warrior." She purred. "I haven't gotten the chance to see her practice much, but maybe I'll get to go on a patrol with her sometime."

Nettledusk nodded. "That's good, he's going to make a great warrior." She hoped that her own kit's training would be as good as Dewpaw's. And she hoped that she could be as good of a mentor to Pigeonpaw as well. "Thanks again for coming with us." She said as they neared the lake. "I think it's good for Pigeonpaw to work with an older apprentice, I think Dewpaw will probably help her learn better."

Mallowpaw followed close to Spiderwhisker as they made their way to the clearing. He looked around the area and nodded, listning to his mentor. "I'll keep my claws sheathed, of course." He mewed. He rolled his eyes a bit, he wasn't a kit, of course he knew that. But he didn't voice his annoyance. That wouldn't do him any good. "How about a leap and hold?" He replied. That seemed like a good battle move, and he was pretty good at leaping, or at least he thought so.

She couldn’t help but feel as if she’d intruded on something she hadn’t been meant to - as if something were going on between the two toms she couldn’t easily read. “We’re going to check on whether or not the dog scent is still present there,” the tortoiseshell explained, tipping her head thoughtfully. “I doubt it will be a big threat - I can’t imagine Lightstar asking me to lead the patrol if it was something still dangerous.” Straightening up, the queen offered the two a pleasant smile. “We’ll head out as soon as I tell Saffronfang.”
The tortoiseshell dipped her head in greeting to Shudderheart and Batpaw. "Of course," she purred. "We're going to the southern border to investigate the scent of a dog. Lightstar asked me to lead a patrol and check it out. You're more than welcome to come along!" She glanced past the two toms towards her brother. "Speaking of Saffronfang, I've gotta tell him where we're going...wait for me, all right?" She winked at Shudderheart, brushing her pelt against his as she slipped past.

The apprentice stood a comfortable distance from his mentor and the other two cats. He wasn’t particularly a chatty cat - so he had no interest in trying to connect with his denmate. He simply stood quietly off to the side, waiting for the patrol to begin once Stormcaller was ready.

H o u n d p a w ’ s half-tail lifted in excitement. “Thank you, Owlmask!” Houndpaw purred. “I’ll go ask Hazelpaw about it!” The black-and-white tabby turned and bounded towards the medicine cat’s den. As she did, she saw Hazelpaw slip out, heading towards the prey pile. She followed after him, coming to a stop beside him once he’d settled. “Morning,” she greeted her friend, nudging his shoulder with her muzzle. “Do you want to come train with me today? We were going to do some climbing, and Owlmask thought it would be a good skill for you to practice too!” The apprentice paused for a moment. “Okay, maybe it was my idea - but I don’t see you much, now that I’m back in the apprentices’ den. Please?” She held out her ‘please,’ hoping to convince her Clanmate to join her.

He gave a short nod to the first patrol he'd sent out, quickly turning his attention to Hollowshade when she'd brought it to his attention that she was heading out to train the apprentices, briefly wishing that he'd already known about this previously. Sometimes he couldn't help but wish that he hadn't pushed himself to become deputy, but he wasn't about to quit now, the rank had its own pros and cons and it was certainly worth it. "Of course, Hollowshade." He answered just as politely as she, although if he could be ruder, he would have said that a border patrol hardly takes any time out of a day anyway. But he didn't. Looking away from the warrior, he turned to see his apprentice leaving her family to go with him, and couldn't help when a small smile slipped onto his face. "If all goes well with this patrol, Minnowpaw, we'll be trying something new." The gray tom added, as he knew how much she enjoyed new things and although they would have to be careful for sure, it was going to be different than simply hunting or battle training. Stormcaller had seemingly forgotten what name he had called out for the patrol, since he hadn't quite realized what he'd gotten himself into. A border patrol with Skyrunner, and their apprentices, this was sure to go wrong somehow. "Good morning, Skyrunner, Smokepaw, are you both prepared to head out?" He asked, merely acting as if there was nothing wrong at all.

She nodded in agreement to the younger warrior, but didn't say anything, giving a short glance to her apprentice as they began to head out. Letting the other two warriors lead, she was mostly concerned with making sure Lichenpaw was alright, and to be quite frank, she didn't usually make others wait but for this sort of thing, she would do it again in a heartbeat. Truth be told, she was concerned for her apprentice like a mother would be, and she wasn't the type to not care either.
