Sweetwater, Georgia is the perfect image of a rural farm town. The community is very tight-knit for the most part, but there is a separation. On the West side of town lives the wealthy and affluent members of the town. These people include the sheriff, mayor, principal, and other high-ranking members. In contrast, the East side is the poorer area of town. The kids who live here are troubled, but have less to live up to. Many of the families in this town come from the town's founders, on both the East and West side. Despite the similar origins, the separation between the two groups is immense and obvious. Rumors in this small town spread like wildfire, and there are many to go around. Everybody knows everybody and tensions are rising. It's only a matter of time until the floodgates open and the truths and lies are revealed. Families and a community will be torn apart. But, maybe all isn't as bad as it seems. Maybe there is a way for the children of said families to mend relationships and put the town together again

Dylan is the embodiment of popularity. She seems like your typical c-
heerleader at a first glance, but she is actually a very caring pers-
on. Her outside appearance is one of wealth and popularity. One that
you would see in the magazines. She tries very hard to fit in, exer-
cising often, keeping up with all the latest fashion trends, etc. Sh
e has what the fashion industry portrays as the "ideal" body: a slim
waist, honey blonde hair, wide hips (but not too wide), a flatterin-
g chest size, and a button nose. Dylan has a quick temper and a roug-
h exterior, but her true nature she hides under the false lashes and
makeup. She is really a hurting girl trying to fit in with the worl-
d. She wants to be successful, but knows that being beautiful is one
of the many things she needs to be so. She is hurting on the inside
because she is surrounded by fake friends and is despised by every-
one else. She has this insatiable desire to be perfect. Her parents
are very wealthy and expect a lot of her. She is expected to get int-
o a good college, preferably Ivy League, so she has to keep her grad-
es up. Her mother is very materialistic, so she often pampers her da-
ughter with expensive clothes and makeup.

hip is best described as strained. Whenever they are by eachother, t

To put simply, Dylan is not too fond of Billie. The fact that they a-
re seemingly complete opposites isn't the only thing that makes them
not too fond of one another, but also the rumor that Billie had spre-
ad about Dylan in relation to her home life. This made Dylan almost
immediately dislike Billie. Dylan doesn't think that she did anythin-
g to create this tension, but she likely did: she can be a toxic person.

NICHOLAS JACKSON - ≋ ☆
Nick is probably the person that Dylan cares the most about, besides
her parents. She initially dated him because she felt that that was
what was expected of her, but she soon grew very fond of him. Their
relationship hit the rocks when the rumors that he was cheating on h-
er began to circulate. This immediately resulted in her rebuilding t-
he walls that she had around her heart. She had let down her guard a-
nd let him close to her, but then he betrayed her and she didn't kno-
w how to react to that.They became visibly more distant as the rumor
s circulated, but still were "official", so that they could retain t-
he title of Prom King and Queen. Dylan will always have a soft spot i-
n her heart for Nick, but she knows that their relation won't be the
same. As far as she knows, he was cheating on her with another girl,
but she likely wouldn't find it any harder to accept if it was a guy.

SYDNEY MCCLAIN - ♦
Dylan isn't friends with Sydney, but she also isn't constantly argui-
ng with him. They both keep their distance from one another, and if
he doesn't annoy her, she won't pay much attention to him. Their rel
ationship is purely neutral. They are separated by the fact they liv-
e on the opposite sides of town, but Dylan doesn't really think that
should matter.

raine never had the life of a princess which some might think, in fact, her childhood could best be described as a chaotic mess back in shenzhen, china. raine's father was a generally well-liked teacher while her mother worked in finances for a popular mall. That would sound great to anyone, except for the two children left in one big house with only their grandmother, nai nai, taking care of them both day and night. kang, raine's older brother, was friends with a group of hoodlums that weren't so great, but raine did her own thing just as she always had, which mostly spending time with her grandmother. School was her parents highest priority for the children, but at the time, raine was very introverted in elementary school and had been bullied quite often because of it--so playing sick worked well with nai nai, until she couldn't handle being scolded at by her father when he realized. During the weekends, raine often liked to sneak out on her own and wander the streets, exploring the world around her and the different neighborhoods even if she knew that she'd probably be yelled at later. One day, when she was ten years old, the girl decided to follow her brother from his high school to where he had been hanging out with his so-called friends. There was a fight and kang ended up with a brain injury that was even too expensive for the family to pay for. kang later passed away and this became the only time that raine cried. In honor of her brother's favorite color, she dyed her hair grey although though her parents, to this day, threaten her about changing it. She became a much more self-confident and, well, tried to make her parents happy by getting good grades, volunteering, tutoring students and doing extracurricular activities, but can always find faults in herself. Soon her brother's death, her father took up a principal job in Georgia for a high school and although raine wasn't very pleased about it, being without her brother in that very same house alone just was too lonely. That and her parents were 'supposedly' worried about the type of people she was hanging around too. It's been eight years since her brother's death and the day of their move. Living in a rural area is something that raine had gotten used to quickly, the people too were easy to observe. She hates being called 'the principal's daughter,' but has learned that it's easier to hold her tongue and doesn't exactly care about the hierarchy of others. As always rumors spread and choices are made. raine just tries to stay strong.

Billie is the definition of rough around the edges. She has been burned too many times which makes trusting others almost impossible for her. She has always been an independent child. She’s watch others did things and did her best to copy them until she got it right. Billie grew up into a confident young lady. She knows what she wants and for the most part how to get it done. She hates having to ask for help. It takes big situation to have her ask for help and even then it is usually through clenched teeth. Like most school was not the best time in her life. She grew to have tough skin and the ability to always have a sharp comeback when needed. Sarcasm is almost a second language for Billie. She never took bullying well. She knew that fighting wasn’t always the answer no matter how much she wanted to punch certain people in the face. She learned how to plan her revenge and how to customize it for whoever she was targeting. Billie tends to keep things bottled up. Not wanting others to think her weak. She hates crying the most. The only person she truly let’s see her melt down is her father.

Bilquis hates her name. This may be due to the fact that the relationship between her and her mom has always been rough. Her mother got pregnant at sixteen with Billie. Her father offered to marry her the moment he found out that his girlfriend was pregnant, but her mother flat out refused. Since her mother was just a child when she had Billie she was rarely around. For the most part Billie was raised by her grandparents. While her mother never really said the words out loud it was clear to everyone involved that she resented Billie for “ruining her life”. Growing up with a mother who is also growing up herself made their relationship very strained. Her father was the one who was her constant in her life. Thomas Kingston did everything he could to be a good father. He hated how his ex-girlfriend treated his daughter, but since they were not married he couldn’t fight for custody for her.

Billie adored the time she was able to spend with her father. When she was thirteen he let her start helping him with his work of repairing and customizing cars and bikes. She soaked up everything he told her like a sponge. When she turned sixteen her gift from him was an old, beat up bike. It was to be her first bike to restore herself with the guidance of her father. Her father told her that all good cars and bikes have a name. It took her a while but she decided to name the bike Stella. Stella is still with her today.

Billie desperately wants to get the heck out of Sweetwater. She did her best in school and while she wasn’t on the honor roll she was able to get decent grades. She is looking for community colleges that are anywhere but Sweetwater. For now she is just trying to get by.

just how cruel the world can be and have bonded over that.
When they were kids they planned on running away with one
another and now that they have the chance they are hoping
they could still make that dream come true.

It shouldn't be a surprise that these two
don't get along. Coming from two very different
worlds tends to do that. Billie pities Nicholas
for having to hide a large part of who he is.
But that pity only goes so far. Whenever he
goes after one of her friends she is the one
who will step in. She doesn't even have to
threaten him either. That is the benefit
of having dirt on someone.

a kind-hearted girl who genuinely cares about the
struggles of her peers. raised to be self-sacrificial
and nonjudgmental, becky is one of those people
you'd hate for being too nice, and that's her
biggest flaw. she can't say no to helping. once she's
involved, she won't back out of an arrangement. just
can't. this has gotten her in fake friendships plenty of
times, so it's become difficult to bond with anyone. the
only exception was her baby, who is now with another
family. becky has been feeling intense sorrow and regret
over giving them up, wishing she could take back her child,
but secrecy demands compliance. no one must know.

becky and her parents moved to sweetwater three years ago when her father accepted the position of minister for a local church. all her life becky has lived in small towns but something about sweetwater made it different than the towns that came before it. the air was tense, still is. if the hutchings were there to do anything, it shouldn't have been create a scandal.

exactly 12 months ago becky returned from an extended stay with her ailing grandparents. she and her mother had left to nurse them in their own home, or so everyone who asked had been told. the truth was less admissible. as role models for the community, the hutchings couldn't let on their daughter had gotten pregnant, and most certainly couldn't keep the baby. it wouldn't have just been becky's reputation at stake; the father and his family would have taken a far heavier blow.

no lie, no matter how carefully crafted, could hide the signs. whispering voices gave rise to a plethora of theories. originally they didn't have anything to do with a pregnancy. becky was recovering from surgery, becky was suspended from school, becky was involved in illegal affairs. for a couple of weeks her name was on everyone's tongue. gradually, things calmed down. then, someone looked at the details from a different angle, positing an idea that made perfect sense. thereafter, it was all about who the father could be. the hutchings merely waited out the public's interest. with the passing of time the rumors have faded into obscurity, the belief they were ever true now questioned by those who once supported them. becky has suffered no real consequences, maintaining her likability, but if the subject resurfaced, if someone asked her to her face, this time becky would confirm it.

as a minister's daughter becky is a hit with parents.
first they tell her she'd be a good influence on
so-and-so, and then introduce her to so-and-so. it
doesn't matter that so-and-so wants nothing to do
with her, their parents insist on them hanging out.
eventually so-and-so figures out that becky can do
no wrong, that everything she says is true. so, they
invite her to their friend group. they start by asking
her to cover for little things, then the lies get more
complicated. if she refuses, they take her name for
themselves and use it anyway. this cycle has
repeated without fail every time the hutchings have
moved. as a result, becky has never made a friend of
her own, and definitely not a real one at that. she's
very guarded now, unable to discern what someone's
true intentions may be. still, becky forces herself to
be optimistic about the people she meets.
