A Tale of Two Packs (Discussion)

@Everyone: We have a new RPer coming in, and right now, interactions have been very limited. Hate to cut interactions short, but we've been talking a timeskip for half a week now, and that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

@Blossom: Okay yeah, it’s a small distinction, but it IS a thing. Essentially this: Alpha's mate's orders trumps Beta in the absence of an Alpha, and essentially acts as a secondary Alpha, while Beta acts as an authority figure all the same, and as an advisor who helps make decisions for the Pack. Alpha's mate does not have much say in making changes and decisions for the Pack. Of course, the exception to this is unless the Alpha has said so. However, after the death or retirement of an Alpha, it is the Beta who succeeds them, rather than their mate.

Again, Beta is advisor and helps with leadership and making decisions for the Pack. They are on fairly level terms with Betas, but unless granted permissions by the Alpha, the Alpha's mate does not make changes within the Pack, nor do they perform any ceremonies, which is the job that falls to the Beta.

Okay yeah. It’s a pretty rough concept, and one I only figured out recently, but it’s worked pretty much everywhere else, and helped keep things in order. It also helps in the case of an absence of one of the ranks, as shown when we had some issues when Shadow was both single and had not appointed a Beta. That can be problematic.

Ack! I don’t, actually, but if you search her name in the sign ups, and choose the final page, it should pop up. She’s an adopted character, so I didn’t make her form.
