I'm confused, what did he do? I tired to look something up, but the best I got was rumors about him leaving.

in "what do you think", he sampled a speech from a leader who did unforgivable things.
I'm disappointed that yoongi would use something like that just for aesthetic purposes.

edit;
i dont think there really is another side to it, this hurts
i mean, i am not defending him dont get me wrong, but it really doesn't seem like yoongi, i am disappointed and really upset about this whole thing honestly
i'd love to say i hope there's a genuine reason for this but there is no justifying reason to use that
i feel sick and i dont know what to think
i am so scared tbh
i'm scared of being attacked,, some people are saying the song is to speak against the cult mentality which makes sense but there are other ways to do that, it's disappointing he used a sample

i mean, you don't necessarily need to leave the whole fandom, it's just yoongi that's done this
it's up to you though, honestly, it is a very upsetting situation

There's a reason why the first line after it he said 'what do you think' also that cult leader was anti-Korean, so it doesn't make any sense for Suga to be glorifying him?
Idk, I'm not going to cast an opinion until we get a statement.
(also just look at the line(s) after?? It's clear he doesn't agree and is against him.)

It’s BTS so everyone will be talking about it. Really, I’m just being dramatic, I don’t intend to stop looking at anything my groups are doing. I’m just expressing that I will be having a bad time being around the fandom for... however long it takes for this to blow over.
So like, ignoring the fans more than usual.
I’m not woke enough for the fandom at large anyway.

right, i totally agree with you guys! i wasnt sure if the topic was um... clear to talk about on chicken smoothie, but weve not gotten word from mods so ill just go ahead.
i agree, its very disappointing. people are saying he did it as a clapback to the person, but still, it doesnt seem right to me. i know agust d is a... well... more blunt side of suga, but i still dont understand him taking it that far. its just disgusting to me without context.

i agree, i hope it's him disagreeing with the dude, but using a sample from his speech is a bit far honestly

I honestly don't think that sampling something in a song (or any work of art in general) automatically means the artist agrees with what is being said/done in that sample. In case of the song I definitely feel like it's used in a criticising way. He is bascially shoving something terrible in the audience's face; to confront us with things that happened, to remind us to never let anything like that ever happen again. I understand that some people might find that approach too blunt.
In my case I'm probably used to things like that, I usually listen to Metal that talks about war and uses footage/sounds/etc. of wars. Not to glorify them by any means but to serve as a reminder on what happened in the past. I feel like Yoongi chose a similar approach with sampling the speech.

adding onto this he may have used it for satirical purposes, taking a jab at past events that happened then got buried and digging it back out in order to, as Anouki mentioned, to remind us of what's happened before.

that's reasonable, but don't you think using such a horrible person's words is a bit far? I mean, there would have been other ways (i say this as a yoongi stan)
