Dipperstrike’s long, soaked fur hung low at her sides. She sat dead center of the camp, staring at her paws, trying to wrap her mind around the loss of another clan member, especially one so young. Her ears pricked to the sound of Daydream’s voice, “Why would starclan allow this to happen— now twice?” she asked.

He looked to dipperstrike. "Remember the gathering? Wind clan's medicine cat warned us of his vision. Star clan warned us through him. They can't see who is cursed," he replied, "I don't like the silence from them as much as any other cat. And star clan can only do so much."

Cranepaw nodded. "I'm going to see if I can find Lilywhisker," she meowed, getting to her paws. "Thanks Daydream," she said, before heading off to the warriors den. "Lilywhisker?" she called out softly.

the snowy molly had bolted from her den the night before when the eerie sound of the breaking branch above them had split the air, the sounds of clear distress that had followed gullpaw's terrified shriek cut short as the branch had landed on the apprentice's body. two... two tragic deaths within such a short period of time. fernspark, and now gullpaw. fernstrike's death had hit her hard, but there was something inside her that stubbornly told her to not to let it get to her as much as it was.

she wasn't vulnerable. she was a grown molly.
they were dead, and that was that. no sugarcoating.

her ears pricked, however, as cranepaw called out her name from the opening of the den. she blinked, the tip of her plumed tail twitching briefly as she locked gazes with her daughter. "hello cranepaw," she mewed, "is everything alright?"

"Yeah, just wanted to talk," Cranepaw replied. "Honeypaw is still asleep," she chuckled. "And my mentor hasn't called me for training yet," she murmured, frowning slightly. She wanted to go train and get her mind off what has been happening around the clan.
