S3 : Write about an internal argument/conflict within the pride, whether its an argument amongst pride members, political struggles, or otherwise. What happened as a result? How was it resolved? Was it ever resolved? (500 word minimum)Russom paced by the pond just outside his families den. A couple days ago when he was out doing his now routine meeting with Shula, she'd told him she was pregnant. A while back he ran into her while exploring past his borders and very near hers. Even during their first meeting they had hit it off right away. They had joked around and gotten to know each other but it was getting late so they promised to meet up again soon. From then, it turned into a regular thing. Meeting in secret. Of course they got closer and their bond grew. The result was what she had told him a couple days ago. He wasn't upset or even surprised, but it was starting to set in what could happen. No one knew he had been sneaking out, and surely not to be seeing someone. He worried what his parents would think when they found out. If they found out.
"What's got you pacing so bad?"
Turning, he saw his brother Akida walking out to join him.
"I'm not pacing."
"You sure about that? The grass looks pretty worn down where you're standing."
Russom looked down at the grass. It was obviously trampled down in the area he'd been pacing. He stopped walking and sighed then turned back to his brother. "I suppose I was pacing."
Akida nodded. "Any particular reason?" When the younger prince hesitated, Akida continued. "You know you can tell me anything. Right?"
"I know. It's just a...shock, I guess."
Akida gave a soft chuckle. "What'd you do- summer fling gone wrong?"
"Well... not exactly."
"Wait. Really?" The teasing was no longer present in his voice as he gave Russom a serious look.
The troubled prince looked over his brothers shoulder worried the rest of his family would soon exit the cave as well. "Come on. I'll explain."
Russom led Akida around the lake and was heading towards the Kikoa cha Zamani region. Minutes passed but still he kept quiet. Should he even be telling Akida about this? Perhaps it would do him some good if someone knew. He didn't think his brother would tell.
"You going to explain or just keep walking?"
"Right. Sorry." He slowed down, Akida also slowing and stopping. He took a deep breath. "I met someone."
"Good for you, brother. Who is it? Aiysha? Sauda?"
"What? No! You don't know her."
"How's that possible? I know everyone in the pride. Unless..."
"She's not in the pride."
"Who is she then?"
"She's in the Motoheri pride and-"
"What?! The pride in the desert? Are you crazy? They don't like outsiders. What if you'd been caught? I hope you called things off."
He gave an aggravated sigh. "Will you shut up and let me explain?" Akida was visibly restraining himself but waved a paw for Russom to get on with an explanation. "Yes, the pride in the desert. That's debatable. I know they don't like outsiders. I wasn't caught. I won't be calling things off."
"Why not?"
"Because I like her."
"Russom, don't be ridiculous. It's a doomed relationship that won't-"
"Akida, she's pregnant."
The older brother got quiet. "What?"
"She's pregnant and I'm not going to leave her, damn the consequences. I care for her. I think I love her." Saying it out loud, he realized that perhaps he did. They'd been spending a lot of time together as of late and they got a long great even with their prides being at odds with one another. He gave a soft chuckle and shrugged his shoulders lightly. "I love her, Akida. Please... don't tell mom and dad. You're the only one that knows."
The lighter brother was quiet for a long moment. "What are you going to do when she has the cubs? How are you going to explain that they look like you?"
Russom blew out breathily. "I'll figure something out." Though his brother didn't seem convinced. "Are you going to tell?"
Akida stared at his brother in contemplation before heaving a heavy sigh. "No, I'm not going to tell. But you better plan on telling them. They're going to find out sooner or later and it's better if they hear it from you."
"Thank you." He moved closer to give his brother a hug which was halfheartedly returned.

‘Cause my roots they run deep, oh.
Jahori is rather bitter about her status in the pride. She was born with a third eye and this has her mother convinced that she's vulnerable. Hoping to keep her daughter safe either physically or from possible persecution from pride mates because of her bizarre mutation, Firyali talked with the rulers Imamu and Asha asking to make Jahori a civilian. This would keep her at home and not at risk of being harmed. Except that didn't work how she hoped. Jahori is a strong lioness and isn't afraid to speak her mind. After the ceremony, she confronted her parents about it. They had doubted her and she wanted to prove to them otherwise. She can survive and she will flourish if her parents would only allow her to do so. They can't force her into the life they want for her. She's different. She knows that. Her parents know that. Her siblings know that. Everyone in the pride can clearly see she's different. But she won't let that control who she is. Everyone's different and they get to decide for themselves who they are. Everyone, it seemed, except for Jahori. She wouldn't allow for this. She was better than this. She was useful and wanted to prove it.
Rise wrote:Oh, ye of so little faith,
Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it.
Victory is in my veins,
I know it, I know it.
And I will not negotiate,
I’ll fight it, I’ll fight it.
I will transform!
Specifically to her parents who have little faith in her, she wants to prove she's stronger than she looks. Stronger than they believe her to truly be. For a couple days after the ceremony she tried convincing them to change their minds. Begged them to have the king reconsider making her a civilian. When her mother refused, she left. One of her brother's, Kamili, had just been assigned as the first lord in the pride and was to rule over the Msitu wa Baridi region. Perhaps she could convince him to let her in. She wanted to be someone. A hunter, a knight, a guard, or a scout- anything beside a civilian. If that took leaving her parents behind then so be it. Nothing was going to deter her from her goal of getting a rank of status. Venturing into the snowy pines to do so didn't seem ideal, but it seemed to be her only option at the moment and she was willing to fight for it.
Rise wrote:When, when the fire’s at my feet again,
And the vultures all start circling,
They’re whispering, "You’re out of time”,
But still I rise.
This is no mistake, no accident,
When you think the final nail is in,
Think again,
Don’t be surprised, I will still rise.
She had talked with her brother Kamili, asking to give her a rank under his rule. Fearing going against not only the king but also his parents he solemnly told her there was nothing he could do for her. Of course this was her last hope. It seemed like everything was against her even if it didn't want to admit it. Everyone was telling her "there's nothing we can do" or "it's what's best for you" but those were just lies. There's always something that can be done. She knew what was best for her more than the others. Despite her hope being shattered, her determination grew like a wildfire. It may have seemed like all her options were gone but there was still something she could do. She was going to make something of herself, of that she was certain. And she'd be sure that her family knew of it as well.

Russom is the second prince and currently youngest of the royal heirs to the Pekee Pamoja pride. This spontaneous boy recently met a mischievous girl who belongs to a neighboring pride. A pride that currently is not on good terms with his own pride. The two prides tend to keep their distance, not wanting to strain their already rocky relations. As fate would have it (or whatever you would like to call it), Russom happened to run into Shula one day while walking in the desert beyond his prides borders and perhaps a bit close to hers. The two seemed to hit it off right away. Two pieces just clicked together. They spent most of the day talking and laughing, getting to know one another and promised to meet up again soon. Russom was excited to meet with her again. He enjoyed her company and wanted to know more about her. Each day they had planned to get together was a day Russom was eager to see. Of course, they had to meet in secret (though that was all part of the thrill). Their meetings started to happen as often as they could and- for Russom at least, it was getting harder to leave. He was really starting to get attached this incredible lioness. Their relationship grew (though still in secret) and had reached a point that could possibly expose them: they were expecting cubs. When she told him, he couldn't help but be overwhelmed with joy. He remembers taking in everything about her in that moment. How close they'd gotten despite their standing. The way she had started to really open up to him, letting him see the real Shula. It had been difficult to get away without raising suspicion, but he was there for her when she needed him. As it came closer and closer to the time of the cubs birth, he was reminded often of how far they had come together in what was likely a short amount of time by normal standards. He was impressed with her.
Rise wrote:Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
He recalled when he had shared the news with his brother Akida. Russom was excited and nervous about being a father. He was looking forward to having a family, but also worried he wasn't ready. What had him most anxious was if his family found out. More specifically, his parents. It was risky to continue any kind of contact with someone from the Motoheri pride. For them to find out he was in a relationship with one...that he was expecting cubs? They'd call him foolish. His brother had probed him for information on his unusual behavior. Hoping it would ease some of the pressure of keeping it hidden and also hoping his brother would be one to understand, Russom told Akida that he was seeing someone from the desert pride and that she was expecting his cubs. As expected, his brother went off- telling him how it was dangerous and he needed to call it off. But he couldn't. He wouldn't. In that moment, Russom knew he loved her. He was willing to fight for what they had even if that meant they had to keep themselves a secret forever. Perhaps one day they wouldn't have to love each other in hiding, but until that day came he would stand by her side and stand by his love for her and the family they were creating.
Rise wrote:And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find
Of course, this was all his own feelings toward all of this. He hadn't even told her that he loved her yet. But soon. And he did. The day the cubs were born, he was right beside her. It had been hard keeping it to himself but in those moments with the two of them and then the four of them, he couldn't hold back his feelings. He told her how he felt. He'd do anything for her and this new formed family of theirs. But he knew it had been a long day and wasn't expecting her to answer him right away- which he told her as well. He wanted her to take her time and really think about what this was and what it could be. What it would have to be if she felt the same way and wanted to go forward. If she needed time to think, he'd be eagerly and anxiously awaiting her answer but desperately hoped she would return his affections.
I Won't Give Up wrote:'Cause even the stars, they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up
It seemed like he was making wishes on falling stars. Anything to figure out what to do. With the cubs being here, there was no way of hiding that he had had relations with someone. He couldn't possibly deny the cubs even if he wanted to. They took after him in different ways, but some of the markings were undeniable. He wanted to make this work. There had to be some way for this to work and he was going to figure out how. Until then, it was regular visits made in secret. He supposed if it came down to it, he'd step down as an heir and live his life as a rogue. He'd always be known as one of the princes, but he could never lay claim to the title of king (not that his chances of that were high anyway since he was third in line). If it were at all possible, he wanted his family to know and accept the truth. Nothing had to become of it. Just allow him to be with the person he loves without having to hide. Though, that was only one part of the equation. Her pride was likely not susceptible to the idea of their relationship either. They were wary of outsiders which Russom was. Even if he were to work things out with his own pride, how could he possibly do so with hers? Regardless the situation now, he was determined to find a way for them to stay together without fear of the prides splitting them should they find out about their relationship.

D2 : Write a 400 word scene/story of your choosing involving your pride membersAmaziah had been traveling for almost a week. It was time for him to move on from his family's pride and find a new pride to call home. During one of his visits to the temple, he received a revelation: he would prosper in a pride called Pekee Pamoja. Not only would he find a new home, but he was destined to make a new family. Not in the sense of close relations but actually finding a mate and starting a family of his own. It was a promising revelation. He hadn't had much luck with the ladies back home. Not that that was his only reason for leaving. He wanted to do more and he had seen he would be more in this new pride. The grass was soft under paw and he could see a large pond in the distance.
A fiery lion with a black mane approached him with a hard look. Amaziah slowed his pace. He didn't want to be mistake for hostile. He lowered his head as the other lion closed the distance.
"Can I help you?"
"The maroon lion bowed his head humbly. "Greetings, sir. I'm looking for the Pekee Pamoja pride."
This earned him a raised brow and a skeptical look. "Why's that?"
"I've received divine revelation to seek out this pride. I wish to join the pride's ranks."
The look morphed form one of skepticism to one of doubt. With a curt nod, the orange lion led Amaziah closer to the pond. A few lions were milling about, some turning to look in their direction. Near the pond was a den, a few lions hanging about there as well. The lion escorting him spoke up.
"Imamu."
A large pale lion with dark webbing like markings responded. "Kondo. What can I help you with this find day?"
Seemingly a little flustered from the large lions jovial mood, he made a small gesture toward Amaziah. "He wishes to join the pride."
"Ah, I see." The lion stood making him seem all the more large but his bright smile was reassuring. "I'm King Imamu."
With a respectful nod, he took a slight step forward. "Greetings, your majesty. I am Amaziah."
Two other lions emerged from the den, one of them giving a soft gasp as they looked his direction. The intense staring was something he had become accustomed to yet this stare didn't seem like one of malice. Rather...curiosity or even intrigue. He didn't dwell too long on it choosing to continue.
"I have traveled far hoping to join your pride. You see, I received a divine revelation to come here for I would prosper and find a family."
The king nodded. "I see. What did you do in your old pride?"
"I helped wherever I was needed though, if I might be so bold, I was a rather good hunter. More often than not that was where I helped."
"Hmm." The king turned to the darker lioness beside him. "Asha?"
"We do need someone to lead the hunters. He could be the chief."
"Then it's decided. You'll be the chief hunter, in charge of organizing the hunters."

D2 : Write a 400 word scene/story of your choosing involving your pride membersBanou stared in disbelief. She had just left the den with Russom to find her parents engaged in conversation with Kondo and him. How could it be possible? It, of course, was something she thought about often. How could she not? She had a dream weeks ago about a life she would have in the future. Her brother Akida had a mate who was beautiful and pale. Her brother Rusom, while he didn't have a mate at his side did have cubs of his own at his feet. And herself? The memory came back to her...
"I thought I might find you out here."
A rich voice called out to her and made her heart swell. There was something familiar about it and yet she didn't recognize the voice. She felt him next, pressing against her side as he joined her. She leaned into his touch but she couldn't bring herself to look at him. Something was holding her back.
"Find me, you did. Come to join me on this lovely day?"
"I have indeed. It seems the rest of your family is having fun with their loved ones. I didn't want you missing out."
The princess made a soft purr like noise as she rubbed her head against his shoulder, just under his mane. His coat was a deep red, his mane a soft reddish cream. She could feel him gently resting his chin on her head. She felt safe and loved.
"How thoughtful of you."
"Always looking out for my girl." She closed her eyes, relishing him. His sound, his scent, his feel. He was so inviting and warm.
She pulled back to look up at him and she swore she could melt. His eyes were a gentle teal so contrast from his rich coat and complimenting his mane. She smiled at the lion before her. "Promise?"
"Always."
It was strange to see this lion...this Amaziah before her. He had the same coat, the same mane... He must have noticed her staring as he looked right at her. And those same heart-melting eyes. But there were some things she didn't remember or perhaps wasn't there. His pointed ears. The protruding fangs. His large claws. This feeling was strange.
"Then it's decided. You'll be the chief hunter, in charge of organizing the hunters."
Her fathers voice drew her attention. Amaziah bowed his head. "I'd be honored. When should I start?"
Her father chuckled. "While I love your enthusiasm, you don't have to get started right away. Take a few days to get settled in. I'm sure the hunters would like to get to know you as well."
"I think Banou was just about to meet with Tasmari. She could introduce him to the hunters."
She turned and glared at Akida. "What?," she whispered harshly.
Her brother only gave her a smirk causing her other brother to chuckle.
"Sounds like a splendid idea," her mother spoke up softly.
As if silently agreed upon, her brother walked off together while her parents turned back to each other leaving her, Amaziah and Kondo. The knight nodded before also taking his leave.
The red lion smiled kindly at her. "I'm Amaziah."
"Banou. Currently only princess to the pride."
"Oh." He bowed deeply before her which had her face growing hot. "I didn't realize, your majesty."
"Thank you. Though there's no need for that." She cleared her throat. "Follow me. I'll introduce you to the hunters."

In Character Breeding : 500 WordsPair : Chausiku and KamiliThe moon was full and high over the lake, snow drifting slowly and settling around the rocks. The striped lioness looked out over the water, the light from the moon bright. It had been a few months since she'd been here. She was still adjusting to being awake during the day rather than the night, but there were some nights it was worth it to be up. Like tonight for instance. Beautiful moon, soft snow, and the comforting stillness of the lake and trees. She owed a lot of the help with her transition to Kamili. He had been determined to help her out. At the thought of the lion, she smiled. He was sweet and caring. Perhaps not a stereotypical lord but he did good by his people.
"I thought I might find you out here."
The voice startled her. She tensed and her tail twitched anxiously. Turning, she saw the very lion she was just thinking about. With a relieved sigh, she relaxed.
"Kamili. Did you need me for something?"
"Huh? Oh, no. I noticed you weren't in your den when I was doing my nightly check in. I figured you'd be out here. This seems to be your favorite spot in the region."
"What makes you say that?"
"Well, it's not the first time I've found you out here." His smile was kind and infectious. She couldn't help smiling back, though her cheeks warmed. Embarrassed, she turned her head down. "So what's got you out here tonight?"
"Oh... nothing special, I guess. Just... peaceful." She looked up at the sky, snowflakes gently landing on her nose and whiskers.
From the corner of her eye she saw Kamili also look up at the sky, a soft smile growing as he took it in. His gaze turned from the sky toward her. Feeling his gaze shift to her, she too turned her gaze toward him. Seeing his gentle smile and the way he was looking at her made her chest constrict.
'What is this? Why do I feel this way?'
Kamili cleared his throat, almost as if he were flustered himself. "While I agree it's a beautiful night and everything is... romantic..." He coughed. "We should probably turn in. Come on, I can walk you back."
Chausiku grinned at his statement. It made her wonder how he felt. After a moment, she nodded and got up. "Alright. Let's go."
If she wasn't mistaken, he almost looked relieved. She walked beside him as the snowfall started to increase. The light flurries were turning into a blizzard. To keep from getting separated, she leaned against him. She could barely hear him over the rushing wind.
"Come on! We have to get out of this storm." Picking up the pace, they rushed toward the dens. The shape of the mountain where the dens were located could just barely be seen through the blizzard. "Just ahead."
They sprinted ahead and burst into her den. Turning to look out, the storm seemed to only be getting worse. She shook her head softly. "You can't go back out there."
"My den isn't too far."
"Why don't-" She cut herself off, hesitating. Taking a deep breath, she continued. "Why don't you stay here? At least until the blizzard passes."
He took a moment to contemplate it then nodded with a sigh. "Alright."
She watched him step back from the entrance and sit down facing the opening. She joined him, watching the storm. After a moment, she smirked. "So... earlier at the lake... you thought that was romantic?"

S10 : Use this random image generator to write a story about one of your lions. Link to the image somewhere for reference. (250 word minimum)ImageLooking up at the tree tops, Penda could see the leaves were starting to change with the new season just around the corner. Her tail flicked gently back and forth as she took in the colorful foliage.
"What has you so nervous?"
The orange lioness turned to see her father approaching with a crooked grin. Russom came and sat beside her.
"Nervous? I'm not nervous."
He raised an eyebrow and nodded toward her tail. "You do that when you're nervous."
She gave him a wry expression then sighed softly. No point in hiding it now. "Just been thinking about next week."
"Next week?"
"Yes. ...Kuja Kwa Uzee?"
"Right, right. Yes, of course. The coming of age ceremony."
She looked back up at the leaves. Thought about what the ceremony held for her next week flooded her mind. She worried about how she'd do. Her tail flicked harder.
"There's really no reason for you to be so nervous, Pen."
"I'm not just nervous. I'm excited too. I could be made a huntress or maybe a guard? I heard Elewisa needs a scout."
"Penda-"
"Do you think mother would come for the official ceremony at the end of the week? Maybe she'll bring Ronen too. I'd love to rub in his face my accomplishments."
"I'm not sure, but-"
"I suppose even if they don't make it, I'm still excited to tell them when we visit them next."
"Penda, sweetheart?"
"Hm?" She glanced at her father. His expression looked troubled like there was something he wanted to say but couldn't. It was quickly masked with a smile.
"I'm sure you'll do just fine."

Looking ahead, Tambika could see Chane approaching her with a lopsided grin. She smirked back. "Oh really? You just happened to know where I was going to be?"
He shrugged a shoulder. "I may have seen you coming to the valley the other day and I figured you'd be heading back sometime today so I've been hanging out waiting."
"Wow. That's not creepy or anything." She bumped his shoulder as she passed, her tail teasingly stroking under his chin. "Good thing you're cute."
"Good thing indeed." He chuckled and playfully nipped at her tuft-less tail. "I want to take you somewhere. You have time?"
"Hmm. Maybe."
The rover raised a brow. "Maybe?"
With a smirk, the lioness walked back around to stand in front of him. "I suppose I could make time for you."
"I was hoping you'd say that. Come on. It's a bit of a way to go."
----------{ : }----------
"Are we almost there?" Tambika asked with a restless sigh. "It's getting dark."
"Patience, Tam. Patience." She huffed causing him to grin. "On second thought, I think we may have taken a wrong turn."
"Are you serious?" She glared at him and watched as his face cracked the faintest of smiles. With a gasp she pushed him with both paws making him laugh out loud. "You're such a jerk!"
"I can't believe you bought that." His remark made her stick her tongue out. With a laugh he nodded his head toward the trees ahead. "Come on. We're close."
"Sure we are." She shook her head in disbelief but couldn't stop her lip from quipping up in a half smile. The sounds of the the local wildlife was blocking out the rush of water nearby. Pushing past the trees, she saw a gentle waterfall. She stopped on the rock to take it in.
"Told you we were close."
"Chane, it's... How did you find this place?"
He shrugged lightly. "Well, being a wanderer has its perks. Found it one day while exploring the region. I wanted to share it with you next time we got the chance to hang out."
She smiled and nuzzled the side of his mane. "You spoil me."

S4 : Write about one lion’s feelings towards parenthood. What do they want for their cubs? What are their fears and worries? How do they discipline their little ones when they misbehave? What would make them proud of them? Or disappointed? (500 word minimum)Akida joined Russom at Kamwe Kuisha. His younger brother sat staring out over the water, looking deep in thought. He waited a moment to see if Russom would notice him but it quickly became apparent the other prince was completely preoccupied with his own thoughts.
"Thinking about Shula?"
"What?" Startling a bit, Russom finally turned to Akida. "Oh. No, not quite." He smiled slowly as his thoughts temporarily shifted to his mate.
"Not quite?"
"Thinking about Penda and Ronen."
Akida nodded. "Never thought my kid brother would have a family before me." He smiled when Russom grimaced. "So how is being a father anyway? You don't really talk about it."
The darker brother shifted on his paws. "It's... not what I expected. Though that may be in part because half of my family lives a couple days journey away."
"Sure. That makes sense."
"Overall, I think I like it. It's definitely a good experience. Nothing I've ever done could compare."
"Wow. High praise. You ever worried about it? Like what if you mess up or the kids mess up or something?"
"Eh." Rusoom shrugged. "I mean, yeah. There's always that fear of not doing enough for them or even doing too much. I want to be there for them, but I don't want them to think I'm overbearing. I want them to grow into their own and not feel like they were influenced by me or even their mother. Being themselves shouldn't seem like a chore or a burden- it should seem natural to them."
Akida nodded in understanding. It was interesting to see his brother being so mature about this as he was usually more on the silly side of things.
"I guess I go back and forth between worrying I'm not doing enough and doing too much. Beside that, there's the normal fear and worries. One of them gets hurt or lost. Or worse."
"Fair enough. But it's not all bad, right? You're not worried all the time."
"No, no. Of course there's proud moments or there have been a few points of disappointment, but mostly it's been good."
"Such as?"
Russom smiled fondly. "They might butt heads sometimes in that sibling rivalry, but it is nice to see when they work together. With Penda living here and Ronen living with Shula, I miss out on seeing him grow. I miss him, but I know he's in good hands. And I'm sure Shula feels the same way about Penda. Watching her grow into the strong lioness she is has been an experience. It's crazy to think she's as old as she is."
"I can believe it. I remember when she was just a cub. Only saw her a couple times- her and Ronen, but it didn't seem that long ago."
"She just brought up Kuja Kwa Uzee the other day."
"That's coming up, isn't it?"
"Next week," the younger prince said with a nod.
"She knows, with you being her father, she's not required to run it right?"
"I didn't have the heart to tell her. She's just so excited. I think she's hoping to be a scout, but with her determination she could be anything she wanted."
"Seems like you're proud of her."
"Couldn't be prouder."
Akida looked over at his brother who had a bright, heartwarming smile. He grinned at the sight.
"She asked if her mother could come. And Ronen. Mostly to rub it in, but I think she'd want them both to see her accomplishments. I don't know how they'd be able to, though if they could come and see... at least when they announce the ranks. I think Penda is aware it may be unlikely. She mentioned being excited to tell them when we visit."
