the warm glow of fire brightened the darkness of the abandoned subway station. there were more people now, more than alaina would have liked. but deep down she enjoyed having the company. before she had run into elriot, it had been lonesome. alaina was sitting a little further away from where the group was circled around the fire talking, of course elriot was the one most engaged in the conversation, he was far more outgoing than alaina would ever be.
her gaze moved towards rayden, who wasn't speaking but seemed to be enjoying the conversation between maeve and alaina. alaina and elriot had got into a tight situation with some diseased and rayden had come to their rescue. after that instance he began to stick around, earning enough trust for alaina to promote him to her second in command.
the male seemed to notice that she was staring at him as he got up from his spot and moved over to where she was sitting against the wall. "why aren't you hanging around the fire?"
alaina pulled her knees up to her chest. "i'm good just watching."
"you're an observer, that's cool." he sighed.
alaina looked at him, there was a small silver piece behind his ear. it was most likely a communication chip installed long ago, the implant was definitely useless now. "you learn a lot from observing."
"i guess. but you can learn more from talking to people."
she rolled her eyes and pointed at the two talking by the fire. "maeve is a calm collected person, look at the way she's sitting, still, hands folded neatly. and elriot? he's friendly and outgoing, see how he's leaning towards her, he uses far too many hand expressions."
"hmm, i'm impressed. you seem to have them all figured out."
"well i did spend half a year with elriot, and he does not shut up." she laughed. "and when i met maeve, i noticed she has those contacts installed where she can gather info on people. she is constantly moving her eyes around. but... she won't get anything on elriot, i'm sure that kid has never done anything wrong in his life."
rayden let out a small chuckle. "you're good."
"eh its nothing... i spend a lot of time observing. after you do it for so long it practically becomes apart of you."
the two fell silent for a moment, before rayden opened his mouth again. "where are we heading to in the morning?"
"i don't know. we could try to head towards the outskirts of eden but, the city is huge, and there's a lot of diseased."
"the outskirts seems like a good start, not too many places for things to hide, not too many people either."
"exactly."

"hazel? we've got you some antibiotics." aspen slowly said, cautious as she walked towards the small quarentine cell. through the window she could see the soldier glaring back at her, clearly dissatisfied with her situation.

"took your damn time," the injured girl tried to joke, watching as the door to her cage opened. despite having denied the need for any medicine at first, three months of the wound, not healing was definitely enough for her to change her mind. it was infected, and while aspen had assured her that she wouldn't turn, the idea constantly played in her head. she watched eagerly as the medic figured out a dose of the antibiotics, handing the medicine over alongside a tray with a bit of food.

not much was said between the pair, almost all the interactions they had were silent. aspen always came and left saying only what needed to be said. the medic was contemplative and quiet, unlike jasper who would never shut up even if hazel asked. "please, stay. i think i might go insane if i stay in here alone for too much longer." she spoke up as aspen had reached the door. she has spoken without her really
knowing, and was reaching out in an attempt to stop the other girl. "it's too quiet in here alone."

aspen looked back, shocked at her friend's request, but nodding and taking a seat from across the small
room. she still said nothing, and instead merely watched as the soldier began to pick at her meal. the two
still sat in silence, but a small smile played on hazel's face, she was enjoying the company none-the-less.

"jasper convinced me to let you out tomorrow you know. i was going to keep you for a little longer, but he
was adament on letting you stretch your legs a little more." finally the medic spoke up, moving her gaze
from the girl to the door.
"oh, well, i'll have to thank him then i suppose."

The city of lost souls, a name that would be considered even more so a dark and almost determined place written the dark archives of the past, more often and true than most. But this name was given for the sake of diverting attention from the mostly abandoned city. The place of some 22.000 residents and commercial places now the home of the lost souls. The city itself considers people named after fairytales, myths, and perhaps lucky enough after urban and local legends of various cultures.

They are a selective and quiet group, keeping to themselves but are always willing to protect those who are in need, considered themselves almost has assassins for hire but with a reason to keep to themselves than to cause some kind of political mayhem in the society of things.

The ranks are as follows:
Boss
Underboss
Consigliere
Dottore- medic
Caporegime – these are captains who answer to the Consigliere.
Soldiers (these break into scouts and hunters, even more, so foragers)
Associates -apprentices
The Madres – mothers.
Bambini- children
Elders remain the same, rather they are very rare.
