I was back at the barn but I did not have all day to spend out there sadly I still had to go to work. Some day I hoped to get to the point where the barn was self sufficient. But we defiantly were not there yet, on that front I had contacted my old riding stable to see if I could buy two of my favorite horse from them. Both were Khimaira friesian a mare and a stallion I was hoping to breed and show Khimaira friesians here at my little barn. I pushed all of these thoughts to the back of my head as until I heard if my offer had been accepted that was all a in the future kind of thing. Besides I had plans to work with Cayro on jumping practice today.
I went and got Cayro out of the barn and after a quick brush down we headed out to the out door arena. Most people would think it was small but I felt it was just the right size. I was not planing on being a boarding center or doing riding lessons. My plans were to be a breading and training farm on a small to medium scale. So that I could be hands on with everything so the smallish arena was just perfect for me. I had come out earlier and set up some "jumps", a couple of barrels and poles was all I had at the moment. But that was ok I wanted to start slow with Cayro and get a feel for her comfort and skill level. Not to mention I wanted to concentrate on building a bond with her.
Cayro was full of energy today it took us a good 15 minuets to work out her jitters before she got down to business. As we started to add the jumps in, Cayro seemed to really get in to the training. She seemed to really focus and be enjoying herself. This was really promising and I made the decision to see if I could find some ideas on pint-rest and the internet for DIY jumps. Until we could get some real jumps for training. As this was defiantly something that it seemed like we should keep working on. After a good two hour session, we headed back to the barn quick wipe down and grooming. After putting Cayro out into the pasture, I made a mad dash for the truck and headed into work.
Later that evening I was back at the barn and looking forward to the day that I did not have to go into a 9 to 5 job. I diced to tack Cayro up for a able along the bridle path that boarder the property. As I got Cayro ready for our little ride she keep reaching back to cheek on me. Like she could tell I had a rough day and need the comfort she could give. As we walked around the property I could feel the stress of the day melting away. And Cayro perking up underneath me like the more relaxed and happy I got the more fun she was having. Eventually the sun started to set and we headed back to the barn so I could give Cayro a good groom before putting her away for the night.
And no mater what else life dicied to throw at me in the years to come. Today had proved to myself that I had made the right choice to buy the barn and start following my dreams.
