His silence she supposed was answer enough as she entered the leaders den, her tail signaling the apprentices to sit behind her as she settled. “I’ve received a troubling prophecy, so early into your leadership no less.” Part of her doubted he had anything to do with the shift in the forest, but had Riverstar chosen the wrong successor? What could have possibly caused this? She pushed the thoughts back, clearing her mind for a moment. “Escape your heaven and walk the path untouched. A tough choice ahead and a fate unjust. When the forest shakes and cuts you in two, look to the full moon for guidance.” Saying it out loud for the first time, her paws began to temble. The next full moon was hardly a half moon away; not much time to ponder on if this was to be the moon it happened.

It took the better part of his morning to groom out his pelt, but it seemed like a good day to run a little behind. Goldenclaw deputy, Iceblood was acting off, and now he could see a cat he admired under stress. His eyes had fallen on Sleekfang; who was not with her usual friend and didn’t appear happy about it either. He pads over to her, his dull amber eyes alert. “Hey Sleekfang, how are you?”

Everyone seemed ready to go, so the dark she-cat nodded passed alongside the stream. The water would bring her some comfort of home, but also make sure she didn’t wander too far. The grass was still damp with morning dew and the sun was pleasantly bright but not yet warm. Her thick coat didn’t mind the mild nip in the air, but when she caught wind of the stale fox scent from two days ago, her hackles flexed up a little. Sheesh... the patrol chased out that yearling already, stop being so jumpy! She silently scolds herself, knowing this scent would be gone for good soon. It didn’t take long for a new scent to take hold as they neared the border. Twoleg dens lay beyond the tree line and the many smells of fire, trash and their pelts carried in the breeze. “Seems quiet, you know where to mark.”

The idea of freedom had always been more exciting to him at her age than actually being a warrior. He liked making his own choices, being able to leave camp whenever he wanted and hunt alone. It was a terrible thing to feel trapped in camp, but he was glad Splashpaw didn’t feel that way. “To each their own. I’ll continue to teach you everything I know, but you are nearing the end.” He spotted a small clearing in the center of ferns near a large oak tree with a few low hanging branches. It was perfect! Wrenfoot finds his way into the grassy patch and takes a seat. “I’m going to be here and I want you to try and sneak closer, then pounce me. The best way to ambush the enemy is to take them by surprise and go for a pin; end the fight before it even starts. Questions?”
