WARNING THERE IS MILD CURSING IN THIS STORY
"I remember the first day I saw her. We were little pups playing in the woods, me and my best friend Moon where playing army when we heard someone singing and leaves rustling.
"Ok general lets hide." Moon said to me as we slid under a bush and peeked out.
Then I saw her, even then she was pretty with long flowing golden hair and a cream colored dress on. My heart skipped a beat, she was so damn pretty. Moon nudged my elbow and grabbed his nerf gun and pointed at the girl, I wanted to shake my head but I grabbed mine. Moon burst out of the bush and shot a volley of fake bullets at the girl, she screamed and started to climb a tree Moon pointed his gun up at the girl at shoot. The fake bullet hid her hand she started to fall.
"Got her!" Moon howled.
I looked over at Moon horrified and ran to catch the girl, she looked up at me scared.
"Don't hurt me." she whispered.
"I won't," I said setting her down then turned on Moon.
"You could of really hurt her!" I yelled
"So?" Moon said picking up his bullets.
I growled and threw myself at Moon we started to fight until Moon's mother came into the woods and found us fighting, she broke us apart and I told her what Moon did.
"MOON! Your grounded and you can't have your nerf gun anymore." she yelled hauling him back home.
"Are you hurt too bad?" I asked the girl
"No I'm alright, I'm Willow."
"That’s a pretty name, I'm Zuna." I gazed into the girls light purple eyes I felt like they knew things about me I didn't even know.
"Thanks." Willow said blushing.
I gulped I remember how the older kids at my school talked about love, I then knew what the mean, "Maybe I should walk you home?" I asked seeing the sky start to darken.
"Ok." Willow said, damn I loved her voice it had a pretty tone, like small silver bells ringing.
Willow showed me to her house and I dropped her off, her mom thanked me and I started to walk home the image of her face burned into my mind. By the times I got home both my mom and dad where pissed.
"Where were you! You drove me and your mother sick!" my dad yelled at me.
"Moon shot a girl climbing a tree with a nerf gun and I walked her home." I said calmly, normally my dad scared me but now he didn't.
"Oh honey, that’s so nice. But next time tell us ok?” my mother said setting my little sister, Swril on the couch.
"Ok, her name is Willow." I said, I didn't know why I told them her name but I did.
Suddenly my mothers eyes looked sad and she looked at my dad fearful, "What was her last name Zun?" Zun the nickname my mother gave me, I hated it.
"Birch." I said giggling a bit Willow Birch.
"Time for bed," my dad called the walked me too bed, while my mother took Swril to bed.
I changed into my P.J.'s and waiting until the light in my sisters room went out and my mother was in her room, then I snuck out of bed and crept along the wall to my parents bedroom door. I leaned close and pressed a brown furry ear to the door and listened.
"-Willows father was drug dealer." I heard the ruff voice of my father say.
"Yes, but Zun's never had much interest in girls, do we want to take that away?" my mother's soft voice was barely audible in the dark house.
"Do we want to take the chance that Willow will follow in her dad's paw steps?"
Their room grew so quiet for so long that I also went back to bed, but then I heard my mother's voice.
"I think we should take the chance, if Zun or Willow start acting weird then we can take action." my mother said then she said good-night to my dad.
I waiting there for a few more minutes but sleepiness dragged me back to my warm bed. My dreams where filled with images of Willow. The next mourning I woke and got dressed in a red plaid shirt and jeans, I went into the bathroom and brushed my shoulder length black hair then brushed my teeth. I ran down stairs and my dad looked distrustfully at me from over his news paper, I pretended to not of heard anything last night while my mother handed me a plate on pancakes.
"Thanks mom!" I said digging into the pancakes
"Welcome Zun." my mom said and started to feed Swril her baby food.
I finished my pancakes and downed a glass of milk before grabbing my backpack and running to the bus stop, mush to my disappointment Willow wasn't there. But Moon was, if looks could kill I'd be dead too right now. I wanted to say something too him but nothing came too mind so I just stood there untill the bus came. I got on the bus and sat in one of the front seats, I didn't want Moon to catch me alone. We rode to school and I got out and ran to my class, I kept looking at the clock waiting for free time. Where all the classes go out side and play on the play ground. The time came soon enough and I found Willow hanging by her legs from the monkey bars,
"You gotta try this!" she called down to me.
"Ok, I'll try." I laughed and tried to copy Willow, the first few times I fell but I finally got it.
"Great job." Willow said letting go and falling on the rubber chips used on the play ground, a few minuts later I was joining her on the ground.
"My dad is pretty scary, how is yours?" I asked randomly
"My father was put into jain before I was born, I haven't seen him since." Willow srugged.
"Oh."I said looking around.
And thats how much of grade school was, playing with Willow and getting mean look and fights with Moon.
Middle school is when things changed.
In Middle school everyone was spossed to have dated someone, and well there came the problem. I only had eyes for one girl, and I was too scared that if I asked her out it would ruin our friendship. On a better note I got another new friend who is also friends with Willow, his name is Cross.
I sat in science class bordly doodling on my paper.
"What is the answer Zuna?" Mr.Chess asked
"What was the question again?" I asked ingoring the giggling behind me.
"I asked, if you mix H2O and N2O will it be safe to breath?"
"Umm... yes?" I guessed
"Oh Zuna. No the answer is no."
I snorted and went back to drawing, then the bell rang I grabbed my stuff and meet Willow and Cross in the hall. I was a bit annoyed I wanted to speak to Willow in private, but ohwell.
"Willow I wanted to ask you if you-" I was cut of by Cross
"Come to my epic party this friday!"
I looked over annoyed at Cross but he had a goofy grin on his face so I couldn't be angry for long.
"Sure that sounds fun." Willow said laughing at Cross' face.
"I'll be sure to invite your best friend, Moon!" laughed Cross, me and Willow laughed too. He had said this a lot just to make us laugh.
"Invite me to what?" Moon said pushing Cross up to a wall, let me get this strait Moon was ripped and Cross... well Cross isn't the strongest person.
"Invite you to a party in your huge-" I was cut off again as a teacher came and took Moon away, "Are you ok Cross?"
"Yea, fine." Cross said to Mr.Chess
I rolled my eyes, Moon was so over-reactive now. It was really annoying, I looked at Cross he was rubbing his shoulder.
"You really ok?"
"Yea." Cross smilied
"So Friday? What time?" Willow asked
"Yeah, umm it starts at 8." Cross replied
"Deal, now we better get to the buses before they leave." I said
Me,Cross, and Willow started to walk to our buses. Pity we didn't have the same bus, but no I had to have the bus with Moon. I got on the bus and sat in my normal seat by the bus drivers seat, if Moon bothered me at least I was close to help. I got out my notebook and turned to a page I only drew on when I was alone, a picture of Willow when I first saw her. Her eyes where closed and she had a faint smile on her face, I was pretty good at art and it was really good. Next thing I know a long pen mark is across the page, I look up fury plain on my face and saw Moon.
"Whoops." he said
"I'll whoops you!" I yelled standing up.
"Boys! No fighting on the bus." the bus driver yelled at us.
I felt tears prick my eyes and I sat down and turned around, I wouldn't let Moon see me cry. I tried to clam myself down with the mental image of Willow dancing, it worked. When the bus stopped at my stop I got off and ran home, I quicklu did my homework and ate a sandwhich from much of my mother's pestering. Then I ran out into the woods and meet Willow there, this was normal. We would come too the woods play and teach each other things. Today I taught Willow where the best spots to find arrow heads and pools of fish where and Willow taught me to walk on my hands and basket weaving.
"So are you going to the school dance next Friday?" I asked
"I don't really know, should I?"
"Of course! Your the best dancer I know!" I said playfully throwing a rock at her.
"Fine fine! But you have to dance with me."
"But I'll just slow you down, plus I can't dance."
"Then I'll teach you. Follow my steps." she stood up and took my paws in hers she started with a simple dance and as the hours passed we worked on more harder ones.
