A long, long time ago, Talia was known
as Siduri. She was a nobody, born in
the time of the Akkadian empire in
Mesopotamia. Now, she is a woman
of countless lives and innumerable
names. The past at her heels has
rendered itself increasingly irrelevant,
a towering Goliath only good for cast-
ing others in its lengthening shadow.
Talia has outlived her creator, and
everyone she knew in her short stint
of twenty-one years as one of the
sheep among sheep. Maybe they
should have thought twice about
granting such power and longevity
to a girl with an appetite for chaos
and all of its messy compatriots.

Talia can be aloof, callous, or even
vicious, but almost equally charming
and playful. The years tend to do just
that; grow layers on you until you can
flip through them like the pages of a
book. Or be at the mercy of a rather
capricious disposition. Nothing is ever
simple once your ledger has a few
thousand years, not to mention a few
thousand kills ─ both out of necessity
and wanton choice ─ in it. That being
said, Talia doesn't believe in some sort
of 'vampires are superior for the sole
reason of being vampires' agenda.
Young vampires are just as fleeting and
naive to her as the humans. It makes
no difference, because in her shadow,
they all tend to be equally ephemeral.
She is genuinely more jaded than any-
thing; another life, another flickering
flame extinguished ─ it means so terri-
bly little in the face of the millennia.
Her only hope is that it will amount to
something once she erases enough
lives, because in the beginning, the
chaos felt like something. It could have
been elation, fear, guilt ─ a rush none-

A rare commodity for someone who can
