James Clermonts • 24 • The Scholar • Straight
Logical // Observant // Compassionate // Clever // Blunt // Freethinking

James is a gentle soul who hides behind his books. He has a sharp wit that when paired with his sharp tongue can get him into trouble with his family. When he was growing up he wasn't afraid to speak his mind which would resolve with him getting into trouble over and over. He now has learned that it is usually better to just stay quiet since his own views tend to differ from that of his family. He keeps mostly to himself often locking himself in the family library.

Since he was born James always had his nose stuck in a book. Being the third child of the family not much was expected besides keeping up with family traditions and expectations. James spent all of his free time in his family's library. It was his safe space. A place where his siblings as well as his father ever came to. He learned so much while he immersed himself in every book he could get his hands He desperately wants to escape from his family and go to one of the colleges, but he knew that there was a strong chance that his father would deny his request. For now he would be satisfied with the large collection that his family owned.

Rosemary Winchester - James can't understand how Rosemary is constantly a ball of sunshine or why she insisted that they became friends. At any formal function she would appear at this side and start talking. He knows that she is just trying to be friendly and become friends, but it is rather hard for him to open up.

Phoebe Clermont

Elijah Clermont - Growing up the two boys were very close. James would hide his younger brother in the library with him or take him out of the house to avoid the family drama. They would talk about what was going on and what should be done about it. Now that they are older they deal with the drama in two different ways. James has pulled himself away from the family. He believes that they drama will always continue so why bother anymore.Elijah, one the other hand, is still doing his best to end the drama.

The Thorntons

Anastasia "Annie" Freya Thornton - She is James's polar opposite which intrigues him. The idea of getting to know her better is something he has been thinking about more and more. (more to come)

Juliet Thornton

Bridget Thornton - James can't help but feel pity towards the youngest Thorntoon sister yet at the same time he admired her spirit. He was surprised when she approached him due to the feud between their families but she quickly won him over with her bubbly attitude. He finds himself caring for her. Almost like a big brother.

Christopher Cabell

Adeline Beaumont - James's relationship with Adeline is a bit hard to explain. They don't often meet up due to the difference is their social statuses, but when they do it is either a peaceful time talking about books and how to improve one's work... Or it could get heated. They have clashing personalities and it shows whenever they butt heads.

Olivia Maddox - He is rather shocked to know that there is a female blacksmith in town. The fact that she is almost as good as her father is hard for him to understand but he respects her for helping her father with his work.

Olivia was always a shy girl growing up. She preferred to spend time at her father’s smithy rather than play with the other kids. Her mother did her best to get her daughter to go socialize but soon gave up. Olivia would sit for hours watching her father work. As she got older, she still preferred the smithy to being social. Working with her father and learning how to work the forge was all she wanted. Being the only child he had her father gladly taught her his trade knowing that when he passed that she would either take over or force whatever brave soul that married his daughter to allow her to work. Olivia knows that due to her love of the forge the likelihood of her finding a husband wasn’t likely. Men don’t like smart women. Let alone one who was stubborn enough to make her own way in the world.

Daughter and only child of Matthew and Violet Maddox, Olivia had a comfortable life. Her father’s work as the blacksmith kept her family well off. Growing up Olivia loved to watch her father work. The smell of leather and smoke soon became her favorites. She would rush through her chores at the house to go sit in her father’s shop and watch him work or do the small chores around the smithy to help him out. When she became old enough she begged her father to teach her. After days of begging he finally gave in. The moment she put of the gloves and with the help of her father work the hot metal into a horse shoe she knew she was hooked. When she proved herself to her father, he would let her do the small orders that came in. It gave him the time to focus on bigger commissions that came in. When she wasn’t working on a commission she was creating her own works.

Rosemary Winchester - They met when Rosemary was exploring the town one day. She as amazed that a woman was working a man's job. She would return asking questions about how Olivia did things or the newest project. Rosemary was a ball of sunshine that Olivia enjoyed. The two are slowly becoming friends.

James Clermont - She is curious about the legendary bookworm, but currently she is not really interested in him.

Elijah Clermont - It started out as nothing. She was simply delivering a commission to the house when the two met. They exchanged a few words and that was it. The next time they met she was working the forge and he became intrigued. Perhaps there is more to this than originally thought.
