Lolan reached down to touch his nose to each of the Pups' in turn. "Alpha is not about who is older. I was the youngest of my siblings, and yet, I became the Alpha of the Lightning Pack," he remembered.

Sunrise looked at the Alpha with amazement. " Were your siblings mad at you?" She said, glancing at Clay and James. They would probably be mad if she became an alpha. She ran her tail through the grass, making swishing noises.

"One was jealous, but that never affected us much." He smiled, just the slightest bit. "If anything, they were proud of me, and served at my side. One as my Beta, and one as my advisor," he added.

Sunrise watched as her brothers raced off. She turned back to the Alpha, her eyes full of curiousness. “ How long were you Alpha?” She said, looking at the she-wolf with curiosity.

Sunrise wagged her tail. “ Cool! I wish I could be Alpha...” she said, trailing off. She shook her head and looked back at the Alpha. “ What’s it like, being an Alpha??” She said, cocking her head.

"It’s a lot of work. It’s wonderful, having the Pack respect your wishes, and being able to speak at the Meets," he remembered. "To hold the title of Alpha before one's name...but with that title comes great responsibility. An Alpha is in charge of appointing Betas and Leads, of organizing guards and hunts in place of those Leads if they have yet to be appointed. An Alpha must sort out arguments and problems within the Pack, and choose what to say, and what to keep secret at the Meets. It’s very rewarding, but can be very stressful as well," he explained.

Fish stared at him with wide blue eyes. "Wow..." she breathed. "I’m sorry that it ended badly in one regards, but...I’m glad it saved you two. Blizzard was a friend, and you...you’re everything to me, and if things had been different, maybe I wouldn’t have met you."

"Oh my..." she breathed. "The wolves up here probably have some...very interesting stories," she finally decided. "Every one of us came here a different way, at a different time. I suppose in comparison to some, I was lucky to live to almost six," she decided. She leaned against Blake, and a wave of sudden...contentment washed over her, a kind of peace, of calm she hadn’t felt during her life on earth.
