i think them bad, most groomer i did go to once did not like them too....it nearly destroyed my dogs nice shiny long fur, it looked shaggy and dull and badly cut, it did seem to shave and rip the fur... Skin was itchy after,...from what i did read it is not an item really for double coated dogs or mostlikely any dog....never again ,it now sets on dust in my grooming bag...,

Normaly i use a soft slicker brush, different combs and brushes...and those softer rubber brushes for horses.
something like this - Lawrence Tender Care Soft Slicker Brush - Large Dogs w/ Fine Hair
or when i once really got tangled fur at belly from running arund forest with me and no time for going slow... i only use lightly, a Mars ..-Blade Coat King Rake once for short moment and very lightly no heavy hand.

...a good bath with natural dog shampoo and contitioner, made fr dogs, every once and again, helps too that the fur and skin is nice and easy to brush.
When you brush an comb each day for 5-30min, then you dont have need for such an mean item...and when you got crazy shedding dog then just brush two times a day...and use oil in the Food...
.

but other may like them, you maybe like them too after use....it is up to you if you want them and like to use them on your dog and if they work well for your dog too...

i have a 9-year-old, purebred, female labrador retriever and for a couple of months some lumps have appeared in multiple areas.
1) a little bit larger than a golf ball sized lump where her nipples should be. (we had her neutered as a puppy)
2) a similar size to above on her jowls
3) a few tiny little almost wart-like lumps in her ears and on her paws.
*i might have missed a few*

i'm quite concerned but i'm unsure if this should be taken seriously.

**EDIT: they don't seem to bother her when touched or squeezed.

We aren’t allowed to give medical advice on here. Call your vet and ask them what they think. They should let you know if it requires an appointment or not.

yes please call or go to vet...
and for anything what is right and good....dont touch, poke, sqeeze the  warts human can get too or dog will get more as they leak....or get infected...and when it is something bad or not bad it is really also not right to squeeze them....a vet does know what they d when they do this as they coul feel what it is sometimes...or use x-ray, blood testing and such...bad not a normal dog owner....
or would you like when someone does this with yours when you would have them?????
And animal have feelings to , and some may not show openly pain and fear like you may think...
.
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

Anyone else do an Easter Egg hunt with your dog today? Just did one with Chloe. Pretty sure there were two of each color when I hid them, but now I'm missing two. *shrug* Chloe enjoyed it, even if she's not to good at it, lol.

yep! we do one with our cavaliers every year and my grandfather films it and puts it on youtube! though i'm not with them right now i'm in florida, so i did one with our dogs. my boy dylan found 8 eggs, my 3 1/2 month old pup got one for his first easter, and our special needs husky found one accidentally as well! he was beat so he has seizures if he doesn't get his medication. he's in real rough shape, but he's a sweetheart and living his final years with my parents.

Aw, all your dogs sound adorable. I'm glad the husky found one. :)

She's about to be 7 in june, so I've taught her a lot of things already (sit, stay, wait, come, place, leave it, play dead etc) but I'm trying to teach her to play dead with just a hand gun motion, spin and sit pretty. Honestly, it's a 50/50 chance if she does it or does all of the commands she knows at once. I also taught her to alert (for anxiety based things) and she'll do that when she's frustrated. The other thing she does when frustrated is bark, because my mom taught her to "say please" when she wants something. So.... our training sessions are hilarious. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, my mom thinks Chloe's begging is adorable so whenever I bring out food for a training session she goes nuts.

We can't give specific information about what's going on with your dog, but I can answer the question about what cancers are common in dogs!

There are five types of cancer seen the most frequently in dogs, regardless of breed.
Mast Cell Tumors
Melanoma
Lymphoma -this one is especially prevalent in Labs!
Osteosarcoma
and Hemangiosarcoma.

Just get her very socialized with humans and small animals at a young age due to hunting instinct (unless being used as a hunting dog?). Weimaraners are such good dogs! Do you have a name picked out? c:

On another note, does anyone have any training tips for Targeting? I started teaching Mazie yesterday and she can already touch it on command but I'd like to get to an advanced level with this as I'm interested in Freestyle. Tips on either are very appreciated! c:

If not from a working line I wouldn't worry too much about strong prey drive, but in a bird dog like a Weim it's
something that will always need to be kept in mind when the dog is around cats, birds, small animals, etc.

Getting the puppy used to being touched on its mouth, ears, paws and underbelly should be a priority.
You don't want an adult dog that wants to fight grooming. Socialization like mentioned above is also
extremely important with any dog. Since weims need alot of physical and mental exercise I would get
them used to things like cars, busy sidewalks, and other dogs being near them.
I would also recommend for the first few weeks of having them, working on basic commands like
leave it, wait, and down. These will be great for sticky situations your pup could get himself
in; like road kill, a cat, etc.

Puppies are so exciting, so I wish you all the luck!!
