When Poppykit batted the ball back at her, Dustkit hesitated for a moment, her gaze flickering between her brother and Stormkit, as if unsure who to pass it back to. It was then that Poppykit let out a long mewl at the other larger kit, Falconkit, and she decided he must be the right one. She batted it in his direction, but it only reached about halfway to where he was.
Sunflare nodded, beaming at the mention of his kits again. "Yes, they're all very well, thank you. Dustkit and Poppykit are so small right now, but I know they won't stay that way for long! Their eyes are already open, and they're crawling around and mewling at everything. They're so cute." He wasn't able to keep a purr from rumbling in his chest. "Perhaps you'd like to visit them sometime? I know Creamflower always appreciates visitors, too."
With a nod, Tigerblaze set off. He managed to catch a small sparrow as well as a robin, but by that point they were almost at camp, and he had been out all day, from before dawn to hunt, to searching for Bearpaw, and finally to now, that he wasn't going to search for any more prey now. Besides, Tinybird looked tired too. And I'm sure Beestar will want word with me, he thought bitterly, knowing that Blizzardclaw wouldn't have wasted any time in telling the leader what he had done. He was fully prepared to be reprimanded, and had been since the moment he'd sent Elmshade's patrol in EagleClan territory, but he had done what he thought was necessary. Flicking his tail for Tinybird to follow, he padded towards the camp entrance.
(@Amnesia, hope you don't mind that I kinda skipped over them hunting, I just didn't feel like writing out any more hunting scenes lol, plus Tigerblaze isn't a very good conservationaist)
Riverstripe remained silent throughout the entire exchange, flattening his ears slightly when Beestar began to grow visibly angry. He knew she wasn't angry with him, but he wasn't used to seeing her that way. Still, he couldn't blame her. He supposed he would have been angry too, were he in her paws. He shot Blizzardclaw and Bearpaw a sympathetic glance before following after Beestar without another word.
(@CJ, if I'm not mistaken Beestar and Riverstripe are actually still out looking for Elmshade's patrol, so they wouldn't meet them back at camp yet. ^^)
Splashfeather's eyes lit up at the challenge before narrowing playfully. "You're on!" Not wasting another second, she bounded off, spraying snow as she went. Once she'd gotten a fair distance from Jackdawpaw, she slowed, opening her jaws to scent the air. Prey-scent was there, but faint, and it was hard to tell whether it was stale or not. Finding prey during leaf-bare wasn't easy as it was, but finding plump prey was even harder. Still, she was determined to beat Jackdawpaw and show off just how good of a hunter she'd become.

"Certainly," Southstar agreed with a small nod. It was always better to start a medicine cat apprentice out as one, rather than to start them as a warrior apprentice and then move them to training medicine later on; the transition was almost always harder, but sometimes it couldn't be helped. That was why Southstar wanted Daydream to pick a kit from Foxcloud's litter as his apprentice from the start, even if the kit didn't initially show any desire to train in medicine. Of course it would be great if every cat held an innate interest and passion for their job, but the reality was that medicine cats were always needed, whether a cat wanted to be one or not. Practicality and necessity always came before personal preference, and Daydream knew that better than any cat. As Southstar gazed at the family, listening to their ragged breathing, he shifted a bit closer to them, pressing his pelt against theirs. Silversnow's breathing was so slow and subtle, coming out in uneven, raspy wheezes, that he doubted she would make it through the night. His heart broke a little more at the thought.
Littleflower couldn't help but feel bad when Swiftbadger averted her gaze. She hoped she hadn't sent the wrong message, to either him or Mistflower; she hadn't wanted to appear uncaring, and she'd meant to convey that when she cast the tom a concerned look, but perhaps it had come off worse than she'd thought. Now feeling a bit awkward herself, she simply padded along in silence, glad that her mouth was too full of prey to speak.
Nightwish nodded and waved her tail to the other two cats before turning and heading off with Russetswirl. "I wonder who Blazepaw's new mentor will be," she murmured as she padded alongside the older tom. Her thoughts went to her own apprentice--her very first, Gingerpaw, who was currently sick in the medicine cat's den, and she felt worry well up in her all over again. She had been trying not to focus on the sickness that had spread throughout Silversnow and Reedwhisker's entire family, but it was hard not to, especially when one of their kits was her apprentice.
Outside the Clans
Thunder let out an excited mewl when his brothers finally got to him, and reached his muzzle forward to touch Fawn's. It was then that Axel pounced suddenly onto Thunder's tiny tail, and while it hardly hurt considering Axel's paws were just as light and tiny, it surprised Thunder and he instinctively pulled his tail away.
