".........You should not call them DB. Check in with me, it'll take me some time to get them back online anyway. I'll call out when you need to press the button. Ready?"

"Ready." He nodded, feeling a little embarrassed about his comment about DarkBoard, but there was no time for that. Now was the time for waiting to press the button.

"Good." They made their way up the stairs, back to Maedryn's lab. "Ready," they said, standing outside.

He pressed the button, hoping all would go well. "Button pressed!" he declared.

From upstairs, came the sound of a door opening and closing. A moment later, he heard a scream.

"Well, looks like I'm going and checking!" He dashed to where he heard the scream coming from, honestly a bit nervous... okay, maybe more than a bit.

Three didn't react as he came in. They knelt on the floor, holding Maedryn's dead body.

The first thing he did was sigh a sigh of relief. The next thing he did was sit by Three, putting a hand on their shoulder.

"I'm here."

"Thank you," they said quietly. "I... I'll need to destroy her body later, to prevent resurrection. But first I need to fix DarkBoard. If that's even possible."
