They are birthstones? I didn't realise! I thought there were twelve foxes, because it was Chicken Smoothie's 12th birthday.

So ... it's Tourmaline for October ... not Opal. That is disappointing. I really, really don't like pink Tourmaline, but loooove Opal. Maybe I'll collect the March or December foxes and pretend they're Opal.

I keep looking at the plushies for more cool stuff and can I just say I kinda love that the teal one has pawpads, as rabbits typically do not?

Vampy has since let me in on the dirty secret that Aesse gave the teal bun pawpads out of simple chaotic willpower, but I will still support this odd creature and count it as a cool detail anyway bye

That is true, there's sometimes more than one option per month. =)
I guess it's artists choice then and as there are no names on the foxes, you could just pretend one of them is another gem.

Of course I missed my own birthstone, figures...

NGL I had to come here to figure out which fox was meant to be my birthstone lol. I don't usually think of Alexandrite as being blue, to me it's always looked purple and green. Either-way it's a beautiful pet. I really love all 12 of these!

ahh thank you so much for the reference! i was so confused... i thought i was the only one since everyone else seemed to have them down
& i know right?? opal is my favorite but i honestly really love the tourmaline foxes ^^ i love how i missed my own birthstone- /:

Don't get me wrong, the birthday foxes are gorgeous, but damn I just can't tell a few of them apart, they are so close in color.

it took a bit for me to identify what fox is what. sucks that the birthstones tend to vary depending on the list.
ive never seen zircon for april, its always been diamond. i guess thats just the cheaper alternative? lol
glad someone brought it up, i had thought opal was october, didnt know there was an alternate there (they both start with o, so its easy to remember)
the alexandrite is a little unusual too but that stone does change colors so theres that

I'm guessing tourmaline and alexandrite were chosen instead of opal and pearl because they fit in better with the rest of the litter. Unless I'm mistaken, the rest of the gemstones are more transparent while pearl is opaque and opals can vary in clarity, which can make them a bit different from the classic picture of a gemstone ya know? That or it might simply be they're just more commonly used where the artist is from.

The good news for those missing opal is that perhaps your love of it might inspire one of the artists. Opal has so many beautiful variations that it could easily make a full litter. :3
