Do we manually turn on the smooth mode or do some of the pets automatically change? hopefully that made sense?

it's automatic^^ But not all pets are smoothed, it's really just a relatively small selection of them that got the smoooooth treatment.

oh the new store pets are ADORABLE!! kinda makes me wish i had saved up my c$ this time around ;D heres to hoping i can get 'em before they're gone!

also while i think the event is very funny,, the chickens creep me out big time. aren't they cold??? where are their mothers???? get them boys a jacket or two im begging

every april 1st it's something different. in 2016 pets turned into chickens/eggs, in 2017 pets turned gray, and nothing happened in 2018 because it was easter. in 2019 pets got crazy hair i think

Nope! First time^^

Our first april fool's in 2009 gave us the fabulous nick sunback litter, with the joke being that Nick would be a new site artist.
2010 we had Nick pretending to take over the site from tess completely, with all the monthly newborns and the site banner/sidebar having been "Nickified".
2011 we all got derpy avatars, 2012 the site was changed to "squiddy smoothie" and all the monthly newborns looked like newborn squids (this was the first appearance of the squid lineart!). We even got a shiny new layout for the occasion.
2013 we had the easter event running at the same time as  , so we didn't have a full-blown prank. Instead you were able to find prank items in the easter banners (like that set of fake teeth or the jack-in-the-box).
2014 we had lots of pets turn into scribble versions of themselves.
2015 we got "furnipets", where some pets were turned into furniture versions of themselves. This is also where that one water fountain angel fox item came from - everyone liked the redesign so much that we got it in item form later, haha.
2016 was the year of the chicken revolution, where chickens took over the site and several site pets became encased in giant eggs or turned into chickens. Also, site staff switched username colours. it was a wonderful time. I liked being artist blue.
2017 was the year Totoro took over the site and everything went greyscale to celebrate our beautiful cockatiel overlord.
2018 we had no full   event again because of overlap with the easter event.
Last year many pets rocked funky hairstyles as CS temporarily turned into a hair saloon.^^

We hold an Easter event annually, yeah! However, since Easter is a moveable holiday the dates vary wildly by year.
This year Easter Sunday is on the 12th, so I'd hazard guess we can expect an event start around the weekend before!^^
We don't actually get an announcement for the event start beforehand, though, so you'll wanna keep an eye on the news every day to make sure you don't miss it.
