Nicholas had felt himself become a little more comfortable at this point. He was glad to be talking to Genevieve, pleased that she was like-minded about the situation, and certainly seemed to hold a standard of elegance and grace.
However, he definitely wasn't expecting the question, and so he almost choked on the sip of green tea he'd taken. Quickly regaining his composure - and being relieved that no one else had been around to see what had happened, especially not Marcel. Not that he cared what the other prince would have thought. Except he was sure he'd be lightly teased about what happened. Not that it mattered. Nicholas stopped that train of thought before it went on too long, and returned his focus to Genevieve.
"I apologise. Your question caught me off guard." Nicholas said, then he added, to answer, "And... no, not yet." Well. It was kind of true, wasn't it? Nicholas tried to convince himself that it was true.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. "How about yourself? Although, I suppose, you've barely met most of the others..." he asked, returning the question.

Thea was flushed with embarrassment still. She silently kicked herself for making a fool out of herself. She shakes Phoebe's hand, meeting her gaze. It was obvious how flustered she was. How am I supposed to get married when I look like this? This is definitely not attractive, not to mention disgraceful. She thought to herself. She meets Mathieu's gaze, and nods. "That would be wonderful. Honestly, this is crazy. I probably haven't been around this many people ever since I was born." She chuckles. "Nice to meet you both." She pauses for a second. "You wouldn't mind...uh...waiting for me, would you?" She asks. "I'll be quick, it's just that I don't think exploring by myself is a very good idea, and I am not very directionally inclined-" She cuts herself off, realizing she was rambling.

Phoebe felt bad for Thea, she just looked so embarrassed and ready to run off to her room to clean up. The princess dropped her hand after the handshake. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to comment on the bit earlier. She had five younger siblings so the number of people wasn’t exactly the problem. Just more so the age factor and the fact the guys could be her future husband and girls the competitors. Not that Phoebe was really competitive in nature or willing to fight over someone exactly. She looked over at Mathieu when he suggested that they should all go check out the palace together. “I think exploring the palace together sounds like a lovely idea.” She commented and looked over at Thea when she asked if they minded if she went to clean up. “I don’t mind waiting up for you at all dear, don’t worry. I know I will be waiting right here while you go change and freshen up a bit.” Phoebe gave the princess a gentle smile, as if she was talking to one of her younger siblings. Some people just need that gentle reassurance and Thea looked to be one of them. Phoebe then looked over at Mathieu and wondered if he was going to agree to waiting, as it was his idea after all.

➢ Gen stifled a laugh as Nicholas nearly spat tea all over both of them. It was amusing to see his perfectly princely image falter for a moment - something Gen was sure didn't happen often. She could practically see the wheels in his head turning as he decided how to answer her. Wow, he must have seen someone he really liked. She waved off his apology with a smile but cocked an eyebrow when he replied that no, no one had stood out to him yet. At his quick return of the question, she smiled, so not completely immune to some teasing then. "No, I've only really had a chance to talk with yourself and one of the other ladies, Thea? You would've seen her in the big group before, but she slipped away before anyone could really speak with her," Gen mused. "She doesn't seem like the very outgoing type, but a lovely girl nonetheless."

In all honesty, Gen was more worried about the whole affair than she let on. Her parents had always pushed her to be friendly with everyone, meaning she never really got the chance to form deep relationships with that many people. Because of this she often tried to rush into friendships and other relationships way too fast, always hurting herself in the process. She hoped more than anything that she could make some lasting friends over the next year.

Like Phoebe, Mathieu also caught wind of the princess's embarrassment, but even as a royal himself, he couldn't bring himself to be ashamed or disgusted by her appearance in any way. While his mother and father would probably recoil at the state that Thea was in right now, Mathieu was much more laid back about how others looked; he, himself, would receive plenty of scorn in the past because he dressed too casually, even for a mere lazy day at home. Still, home was a palace, and heirs to thrones weren't supposed to have days off. According to his father, of course.

"I don't mind waiting either," he agreed after Phoebe spoke. It was the truth, after all. They had plenty of time to wait around here, as long as they reached their parents' final objective: find someone to marry. Also, with four younger sisters, he had plenty of experience with waiting around for princesses to tidy themselves up. "Really, take your time- we've got plenty of it."

Honestly, Mathieu was just excited to see more of the palace, since he'd hurried right in due to freakish amounts of anxiety. He felt less anxious about the whole thing, since Phoebe and Thea were also so relaxed. He had expected more uptight princes and princesses who were fixated on rules, royalty, and riches. That wasn't him, and he was thankful that wasn't the two princesses he met, either. For Thea to delay their adventures was no big deal at all.

Nicholas was relieved that his brief moments of faltering hadn't been commented on or questioned - it was rather embarrassing enough being in front of just one person. And, he saw Genevieve's expression and reaction, so any hope of his faltering image not being noticed was gone. He hoped that word of this moment wouldn't be told to any of the other royals. He couldn't imagine what they would think. Well... actually, he could for some of them. Or maybe just one.

Nicholas brushed off anything that would potentially cause the conversation to backtrack. Changing the subject would be best, he was sure. "Oh, yes, Thea." Nicholas confirmed, with a slight nod. "She does seem quiet, though pleasant." he hadn't had much of a conversation with her - but then, he guessed that not many people would with the princess. He recalled Marcel making the comment earlier that he should go and talk to Thea.
"The others seem nice as well. Though one or two of them seem quite reckless." Nicholas commented, before moving the conversation on with another question, "What do you like to do for recreation?" he hoped that they'd share at least one or two interests.

Despite Mathieu's assurance that she need not hurry, she did anyways, after all, it wasn't like they were doing anything super formal and fancy yet. She threw on a solid golden yellow dress, with intricate bead work along the skirt. She fixes her hair and cleans her face, and emerges from her room, looking somewhat like a different person. Much like Phoebe and Mathieu, Thea hadn't really been surrounded by people her age before either. Her parents forbade contact with others unless given special approval. Because of this, Phoebe's comforting tone, as if she was speaking to her younger siblings, was not odd to Thea. Others may have found it odd, or even insulting, but Thea had no way of knowing that that wasn't how you generally spoke to people your own age. She walks over to them. "I'm ready if you are." She says to the both of them. She felt much calmer now than before.

As Thea was getting ready, Mathieu returned to his room for just a moment to leave the remainder of the tea, knowing he could return it to a servant or to the kitchen later. He looked at himself in the standing mirror for just a moment, taking in his appearance. He wore a white button up with deep emerald embroidered accents tucked into slacks of the same hue. Upon his arrival, he'd wondered if his outfit choice was too simple or just enough; he wanted to impress, but he was never one to call much attention to his outfits. He could make a daring first impression with an outfit when the feast commenced.

He exited his room and returned to his previous position at Phoebe's side. Shortly after, a recomposed Thea presented herself. He gave a big smile when Thea announced she was ready to go. Mathieu couldn't be more giddy to get out and explore; he felt like he had the most freedom he'd had in a long time. Here, his parents weren't hovering over his shoulder for every moment and interaction. It was such a relief.

"Right, let's go then!" he replied, leading the way. He started walking wherever his intuition led him, still unsure about where to go throughout the winding hallways and many rooms. The high ceilings and antiquated lighting fixtures had him in awe. Even though he lived such a lavish life himself, seeing new architecture and visiting unknown places never got old. He was most excited to find the kitchen; while servants often shooed him away from the one at his own home, he often felt the urge to bake something tasty while he felt anxious.

Even though the hallways were winding and Mathieu was looking to explore the inside more, his heart skipped a beat when they passed a large window and he saw other heirs of their same age outside, immersed in a chat. "Do you two want to continue with looking around?" he asked, eyes not quite leaving the group. He then remembered what Phoebe told him earlier, and he turned to her. "Is that the group you spoke about earlier? We don't have to talk to them if you're not comfortable, but..." He paused, not wanting to upset her, and also not particularly wanting to leave her alone if she still wanted company. "It's your choice."

Phoebe was left alone in the hallway as both Thea and Mathieu disappeared into their own rooms. Thea had gone to get change but Matthieu just kind of left without saying anything, leaving the princess to think maybe he went to change as well. She felt a little uncertain now, as she wasn’t sure if she was supposed to go change out her outfit as well. While Phoebe didn’t find anything wrong with the flowy light blue dress she was wearing that had some lighter colored blue flowers and branches detailed along the bottom of the skirt. Perhaps maybe it was customary for some of the royalty to change their outfits throughout the day. Deciding to stick with what she had on, Phoebe waited for the others in the hallway and bid her time by looking at the paintings adorning the hall.

It didn't take long before Mathieu came out of his room and joined her, notably still wearing the same outfit as before. The only thing that had seemed to change was that he was lacking the cup he had carried before. The princess was unsure why Mathieu didn't ask one of the staff politely to take it back for when they started touring but the thought was interrupted by Thea joining them. Quickly after, they set off to explore the palace and all that was waiting for them with Mathieu as the head of the group. It didn't seem long the prince had stopped at once the large windows, looking outside it. Curiously, Phoebe took a glance outside as well and saw Marcel and Desmond down below from before. She looked over at Mathieu as he asked a question but before she could quite respond, he then asked if the princes were the group she talked about earlier. "They were a part of it, although there were a few others earlier as well. However, it would seem most of them went their own separate ways." The princess explained and looked outside again, pausing momentarily as she considered his indirect proposal. It would seem like he wanted to meet them and Phoebe didn't blame him. Because of that, she didn't want to hold the group back, especially if Thea also wanted to meet the other princes as well. She looked both at Thea and Mathieu with her brown eyes before speaking. "If you two would like to go meet and talk to them, don't let me be the one to stop you from doing so." Phoebe said softly, not exactly sure what she truly wanted to do. She didn't have any set feelings about Marcel and Desmond to not go, she just hoped the group won't grow as chaotic as it was before.

As they were strolling through the halls, Thea's fingertips grazed along the wooden detailing, admiring the intricacy of the architecture and design of the castle. She realized that the two had stopped, and had a quizzical look on her face, before seeing that they were looking outside. She peered out the window and noticed two princes. She had briefly encountered the one, Marcel, at the beginning of the day, but hadn't seen the other prince before. She blushed brightly when she realized she was staring. She couldn't deny that he was attractive, but she knew that wasn't the basis for marriage. Not for royalty anyways. She had an anxious and dreaded feeling in her stomach whenever she saw Marcel. He was loud and quite the opposite of Thea, which caused her to be anxious. The two princes seemed to be immersed in some sword of duel, harmless, but Thea's heart raced, thinking it was not. "I-is it normal for them to...to fight like that?" She asked Mathieu and Phoebe worriedly, pointing that she wasn't joking.
