At the woman's curtsy, he offered somewhat of a formal bow. Mathieu wasn't one to flub up on making formal introductions to important people who he'd just met, but it seemed his nerves got the best of him. After all, this woman, or one of the others, could very much be someone he would rule a kingdom with, so he couldn't shake the feeling of being constantly on edge. He took a sip of his tea and watched the woman glanced back at the empty hallway and then focus back on him. Her explanation made a ton of sense as to why she seemed nervous, though. He definitely didn't blame her. He could address thousands of his people in a large crowd, but when it came to small groups of others his age, he usually felt timid, and like he needed to compare himself to them.

"A large group sounds overwhelming, that's for sure," he replied. "I'm not used to it either. It still doesn't feel real that we are here and won't leave until we find our future partner." It was relieving to hear that he didn't miss too much, but the thought of the large group both knotted his stomach with anxiety and made him feel curious to meet the others.

He noticed the woman's small grin as she looked up at him, and the anxiety pretty much dissipated. She seemed genuinely kind. People like her made her feel more at ease.

"I'm Mathieu, prince of the Hirene Empire," he said, his smile growing at the sight of her own. "I'm glad we got to meet more personally, rather than in that group you spoke about." He offered her his free hand, and when she took it, he gave a polite kiss to the top of her hand. Might as well be a little charming, right?

After getting finished riding, Thea retires to her chambers. Before she reaches her chambers though, she sees Phoebe and Mathieu. She didn't look very proper at all: her face had splotches of mud on it, and her hair was a mess. Despite this, she held a certain posture that showed her royalty. "H-hello." Her chambers were just passed Phoebe's. Her cheeks turned a dark shade of crimson as she realized what she was wearing. She had hoped that she wouldn't stumble upon anybody like she just had. "I apologize f-for my appearance." She says, stuttering. She always stuttered when she was embarrassed or nervous. She tucks a strand of her chocolate brown hair behind her ear, and avoids their gazes. She gets a sudden realization that she should probably curtsy or something, so she curtsies and introduces herself after taking a deep breath. "Hello, I'm Princess Thea Desiree Addington of the Northern Isles."

Nicholas raised an eyebrow slightly, hearing about Marcel. He'd suspected as much. Well, he hadn't been entirely certain. But he was sure that there was something more to the prince than he'd shown. Not that it mattered, of course. This wasn't what the conversation was meant to be about.

He was glad that Genevieve agreed with him - having at least one other person liked the idea. However, he was rather taken aback by the mention of arranged marriage. He hadn't been aware of that. Was it to happen at the end of their year together? Would their 'matches' be announced at some point? Or would they pick? "I... hadn't been aware of that part." Nicholas admitted. "... Although I must say that it's certainly not an ideal situation." he added, though he knew that he wouldn't oppose it openly. He would do anything for his kingdom, and anything to ensure his parents were proud of him. Even if it added pressure to him.

Phoebe nodded at his statements and was once again reminded what they were all here for. It would seem like the other new residents also couldn’t forget why they were here but she was glad someone shared some of her feelings on the matter. “I’m Phoebe Castillo, Princess of the Arindore Kingdom. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mathieu. I am also very much glad that we did not meet under such circumstances either.” The princess replied and gently rested her hand in Mathieu’s open stretched hand. She couldn’t help but feel her cheeks heat up from the gesture but hopefully he would be distracted by a princess’ incoming presence to notice much. Phoebe softly retracted her hand from him and turned to face the embarrassed princess. “Hello. Don’t worry too much about your appearance, I have seen much worse.” She said, trying reassure the other princess and gave her a smile. Her own blush was gone by now at least. Phoebe gave Thea a quick curtesy in return and introduced herself. “Nice to meet you as well, Thea. I’m Princess Phoebe from the Arindor Kingdom.” The princess put her hand out for Thea to shake and glanced over at Mathieu.

➢ Genevieve shrugged, tucking her hair behind her ear. "I mean no one's said anything outright I suppose... maybe I misunderstood," she recovered quickly, smiling brightly, not wanting to worry her new found friend. Even if their partners weren't explicitly picked out for them, the options were certainly restricted. What if Gen wanted to marry someone, God forbid, not of royal heritage? "I don't know, I know my parents are desperate for me to be married off to some preening prince-", she cut herself off with a light cough, "Uh, present company excluded of course," she said with an embarrassed laugh.

He shook his head a little - it did make sense. "I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if it was an expectation at the end, and they have us choose our partners." Nicholas commented. Thinking about it... he wasn't sure who he'd want to be engaged to right now. He was sure that would likely change, though.

At Genevieve's words, Nicholas lightly laughed, not taking any sort of offence. "I'm sure my parents would love to see me marry a princess." he said. He wasn't entirely opposed to the idea, provided he actually loved the person he married. But... a voice in the back of his head whispered 'there's not just princesses here.', and he grew a little uncertain. "At least we have a year to put it off." Nicholas then said, almost making some sort of joke about it.

Mathieu caught a sight of a blush spreading across Phoebe's cheeks before they were interrupted by the second princess. He tried not to think too much of it- surely anyone would blush upon a stranger kissing their hand, right? Nevertheless, the image of her gentle smile and faint rosy cheeks remained in his thoughts. Quickly, though, he had to push that aside to take in the image of the muddy princess before the two.

He grinned with amusement and took another sip of his tea when she apologized for her appearance. Mathieu knew that no one could come back from riding looking picture perfect, and he was no exception; the image of himself with windburned cheeks and crazy hair was all too familiar, and something he would definitely try to avoid showing the other royal heirs. He would rather just sit in the kitchen and bake some nice-smelling pastries.

Phoebe's response to the princess made him smile just as big. He offered Thea a polite bow upon her introduction, and waited until after Phoebe was finished speaking to introduce himself.

"I'm Mathieu, from the Hirene Empire," he replied. "It's nice to meet you." He met Phoebe's eyes for a second before returning to the new princess. "If you're not doing anything after you freshen up, feel free to join us if you like! I would love to sightsee the palace, if you two are up for it."

He stops and blushes, huffing. He quickly hides his blush and looks at Desmond his eyes flashing in frustration. "What face? Grinning knowingly as he noticed his newfound friend's reddened face, Desmond shook his head as Marcel deflected his inquiry with his usual banter, but took no time to decide to play along "Sure, whatever you say...we'll see about that." Turning his attention to the rack a few feet off that was holding the training gear, bows and swords of all kinds, Desmond sauntered over to it and inspected the tools before carefully selecting a wooden sword. Lifting the weapon up and pointing it towards Marcel, Desmond weakly held the heavy object up and chuckled carelessly as he momentarily left his friend alone about opening up "Oi, we are using wooden swords, right? Because if I'm going to get beaten up, I'd rather end up with welts than stab wounds."

➢ Gen nodded thoughtfully, finishing off the last of her coffee. Setting the mug down, she leaned back, allowing her posture to relax a little - only a little. Nicholas was turning out to be a lovely person, Gen was grateful to have found someone like-minded so early on in the whole ordeal. Deciding to push a little bit further, she asked, "So then Nicholas, has anyone here caught your eye yet?" Despite being a proper lady and all that, Gen couldn't help stirring the pot a tiny bit. So she's a bit of a gossip, but come on, who isn't??
