Without wasting a moment, the queen dove in after her, terrified that the apprentice wouldn't be able to swim at all with her leg. The water surged over her, the freezing cold hitting her like a brick. Paddling furiously with her legs, she grabbed Ivypaw by her scruff. With the apprentice clamped in her jaws and her pelt weighed down with water, she struggled to reach the bank. Once she reached it, she wasn't able to pull them up - the ice was too slippery. The calico scented the air, but was disappointed when the only thing reaching her scent glands was the crisp scent of the snow. Quiverheart kept walking, watching the snow at her paws. She became distracted, studying it's texture and how cold it was against her paws, so by the time she heard the flapping of wings it was too late. A bird that had been on the ground in front of her fluttered up into the tree, to Quiverheart's dismay. The queen hung her head, disappointed in herself for becoming distracted.

A s Darkpaw stalked away from him, Deertail heaved a sigh and let his shoulders sag. He couldn't image how that could have gone any worse. Darkpaw wasn't typically a hard cat to train - but when he was difficult, it was to an extreme. The tom wondered if he would mess up with his apprentice as badly as he had messed up with Quiverheart - the queen was nervous and shaky all of the time because of his actions in the past. He only hoped he'd have better luck with his future kits, since it seemed he had already screwed up with Darkpaw. The ginger-and-white tom sat down, curling his tail around his paws.
