It reminds me of the time when nobody would tell me what "ftw" really meant, and the only answer I had gotten was "F*** The Witch". I was afraid of using it from that point 'til the time when somebody told me exactly what it was. :v Between those times, I had always gasped when people said things like, "I got a dog, ftw!"

I always thought since 'wth?' means 'what the f***?' I thought 'ftw' meant 'f*** the what?'. xD. No-one ever told me it meant for the win.

It's sort of like a smiley -- think of the O as a head, the T as the back and arms, and the L as the legs -- it's a person kneeling down on the floor, downcast. x'3 Like in animes/mangas?

Another way to put it is "orz", which I personally prefer.
