[VOK] Prompt A6

Postby Raptocidic » Sun Feb 02, 2020 3:17 am

What sort of faith does your pride have? Do they have gods? 150 word minimum [100 exp]

Most of the lost lions in the prode do not believe in a deity or any sort of god like being. They do not believe in a possibility of ghosts, although many do think each lifeform borrows an energy which returns to the earth once they die. Many believe in a magic energy that they think flows between all existing things. They explain the use of strange powers with the idea that some lions are born with a special ability to tap into this energy and use it. They believe it is a finite resource and so it is important all things must die, so the energy can be used by others.

A few of the lions believe in tales of powerful magical beings who live long lifespans. They theorise that the ancient cats were all like this but over time the trait became rare and eventually almost non-existent. Some think a few of these ancient beings still live in the current day, but many think they were killed off during an ancient battle that they think split the cats into the different species there are today.

Overall however the pride all believe in one thing. They all believe in power and its necessity in order to be truly successful as a pride. Most of the lions believe destruction is a true display of power, but not only that but to be the ones to survive the events causing destruction. As a result they seek to control forces of power, even if they will truly never be able to control the elements.

[Zipl Personality] [Zipl P1 + D1x3]

Postby Raptocidic » Tue Mar 17, 2020 3:17 am

The version without all the color coding is here, this is just to separate the writing for prompt purposes.

Key:
● P1
● D1 1
● D1 2
● D1 3

During the Summer Zipl spends most of his free time in the Uplands, but returns to the prides main spot in the desert on occasion. He prefers the cooler areas of the prides expansive territory. Zipl finds hotter climates harder to be in and finds he thinks most rationally when he isn't overheating from the heat of a warm summers day. He does spend more time in the Drylands during winter where it cools down slightly. Zipl is usually a calm and rational thinker, however he can become easily agitated and irritable if he feels too warm. If it is hot outside he will be much more angry or upset in response to things he usually doesn't care about.

He often uses the Uplands to secretly keep some of the meat left over from hunts and keeps it hidden from scavengers, keeping the meat preserved in the cold until the
pride need to eat it or it stays there for too long and goes off, in which case he leaves it in the open for others to eat. Sometimes he brings other food out of the back up storage to feed others even when the food is still unspoilt, simply because he's a little to kind at heart. He isn't supposed to stash food but he does, he never takes much but he knows its enough to keep him and the animals he is friends with fed if the pride experience multiple unsuccessful hunts. He can be secretive from those he knows (but in a way that others don't realise) but he is also rather generous to others, even if they are considered outsiders by the rest of the pride.

He is abnormally friendly to other animals, particularly many eagles and vultures who he appears to be good friends with.
He has also befriended a lone wolf and they mostly seem to discuss hunting tactics with each other. Overall Zipl is an incredibly friendly lion who only hunts for food and when the pride has over hunted a little he often stores it and shares it in times of need. His stash is secret from the rest of the pride and it appears he is a good liar and able to keep secrets.

Whilst he is rather social aroundothers to the pride he is much more quiet. In general he's more shy around other lions but becomes more talkative once he knows them better. He seems to open up quickly to individuals who he thinks are skilled at hunting, often eager to talk about and learn new hunting techniques and tactics. He appears to be overly eager to talk about hunting in particular, the reason being is to him it
is an extremely important part of his life. He doesn't make everything he does revolve around it, but he does acknowledge its importance to both survival and himself personally. He finds a lot of enjoyment in the activity but only if he needs to hunt- if he already has enough food he does not like to hunt, he feels those animals should have a chance at life for another day. Since Zipl spends a lot of his time thinking and learning hunting related things he is a rather good hunter, although he's always rather experimental with techniques so he isn't the most successful hunter. Sometimes others get annoyed at him because he can be a pain to hunt with in a group because he's always suggestng wacky ideas and techniques used by other hunters that lions don't normally use. Other individuals appreciate how he likes to think outside the box however.

[VOK] P1 Iluc

Postby Raptocidic » Mon Mar 23, 2020 5:21 am

Whilst Iluc appears to live a more solitary life style than some of the other pride members he is in fact a rather social lion. He's an ambivert and uses his more disconnected role in the pride to get his social needs at exactly the right time he requires them.

He patrols the Uplands, often on his own. He makes sure to maintain relationships with the rest of the pride however he has no problem with making friends with other lions, which is unlike to the prode generally hostile attitude. He keeps the alliances and friends he makes secret on most occasion, often posing to the other lion as a rogue. He found that some lions are unwilling to befriend a lion from a different pride but are more forgiving if he looks like a lone lion.

As a result Iluc has started to live a double life. One he lives as a member of the Wildfire pride, the other he lives as a lone lion. He has become skilled at hiding his other life, it's a mystery how he keeps up with both.

Soft - Glare

Postby Raptocidic » Sun Mar 29, 2020 11:53 pm

[Entry writing that won for Evern]
Evern was on watchout duty, but he wasn't really playing attention. He had spotted a small shiny object and had kept his gaze set on it for a while. He was watching the object slowly become buried in the snow. He was too afraid to touch the strange object out of irrational fear, yet he was ever so curious as to what the foreign thing may be. He half expected it to be a living creature, for some strange reason.

An hour passed and the object was completely covered in snow. Evern decided to leave his spot pick up a twig in his mouth, the whole time keeping his gaze fixated on the spot where the shiny thing was. He returned to his spot with the twig and continued to stare once more. After a little while he slowly approached the object which was now buried under half a foot of snow. He drew a rough circle around where the object was using the stick and dug exactly within that circle. His curiosity was currently more overpowering than his fears.

He just had to know what it was.

Evern froze when his paw touched the shiny object. He didn't mean to touch it it as he was afraid it could somehow hurt him. He quickly dragged his paw away from the object and ran to a nearby tree, peeking out from behind and the spot where the object was.

There was no sign of movement so he soon returned to the spot he dug and stared at the shiny object, his head now collecting a small pile of snow as he had paused in the same spot for a long time. He was staring at a small silver spoon, but he didn't recognise what the object was. Eventually he decided to face his fears and pick up the alien object.

He trotted over to the leader, Alistair feeling rather proud of his accomplishments. He was holding the spoon.
"Hey look at this strange thing i found! it looks dangerous!" he yelled.
In a rush of concern Alistair instantly turned to look at Evern. He seemed worried at first but quickly changed expression to look dissapointed. He was somewhat amazed that someone couldn't recognise a spoon, but then he figured that cats who always lived in the wild may have never seen a spoon before. He told Evern to calm down.

Glare - an argument

Postby Raptocidic » Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:33 am

[a continuation from the writing above]

Seeing Alistairs change in expression Evern knew he had been wrong about the strange object. He had hoped his discovery would be of interest to Alistair. After all it was a strange, shiny, and possibly dangerous looking object he had never seen.

Alistair had left by now, returning to continue whatever he was doing before Evern had called him over. Evern felt a little dissapointed that his discovery appeared to had been all for nothing, so he decided to go find Alistair to ask him about the strange object.

Finding Alistair was fairly easy. He happened to be sitting in the middle of the densite with his eyes closed. The concept of meditation was foreign to Evern and so he assumed Alistair was sleeping. He thought the idea of sleeping like this was rather strange. Regardless he still went ahead and nudged Alistair on the shoulder, brushing over his scars.

Being rudely dragged out of what was previously a calm meditative state Alistair opened one eye with visiable frustration. He didn't like his scars being touched, it was one thing sure to put him in a bad mood. Doubled up with the fact that Evern had just ruined his meditation and he was rather angry, although only a little bit of this anger actually escaped to display in his body language.

Evern didn't pick up on the tiny hints of annoyance. "oh, you're awake! ... sorry for waking you up... You said this strange thing wasn't something to worry about, do you know more about it?"

Alistair looked at the spoon. He would normaly be happy enough to explain but today he just wanted some quiet time. Evern had worried him before but upon finding it was a false alarm he wanted to just keep calm for a bit. He tried to explain he can tell Evern what the 'strange object' is later, but right now he just wanted to go back to what he was doing before. Evern didn't really understand why and kept persisting, the two building up tension with each response back and fourth.

This went on for a while until Alistair finially snapped. He ran off without an explanation and found a tree to sit in. When Evern found him he could see the visiable anger, his violently flicking tail and irritated expression being a classic sign that even Alistair used when he truly had enough. Yet still he appeared to calm slightly when Evern arrived in the area, worried about where his friend was.

By the time Evern had found Alistair he was rather angry himself. Alistair on the other hand, although still slightly annoyed, had processed the situation and didn't really care much at this point.

Evern started shouting. "Where were you? You just ran off!"
"Look, i just wanted some time-"
"ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS ASK YOU ABOUT THIS, i really don't know what it is please..." Evern pushed the spoon towards the bottom of the tree. Alistair was slightly surprised, he hadn't even realised he brought the spoon with him until now. Evern appeared to be getting somewhat emotional. He was exausted from looking in every corner of Glare territory to find Alistair and at this point wasn't really thinking much at all.
Alistair didn't reply, not really knowing what to do. He thought about possibly going down from the tree.
"I'M SORRY FOR WAKING YOU UP I AM, I DIDN'T MEAN TO ANNOY YOU. Im still confused why you're angry at me i don't, i,i i, i just wanted to know what this stupid thing was."
At this point Alistair climbed down to a lower branch, paused for a short bit and then jumped to the ground. He tried to comfort Evern. He decided to try pinning the blame on himself, as Evern seemed to beleive it was his fault.

It took a while but Evern evenually calmed down. He didn't really understand what exactly had happened but he decided not to question it much.

Alistair finially explained what the strange object was. After Evern felt slightly silly over that argument but at least he knew it was a spoon. He wondered why humans needed such weird things to assist them in eating. They were truly strange and fascinating creatures.

[Soft] [Glare] A good mornings fishing

Postby Raptocidic » Wed Apr 01, 2020 2:42 am

The early beginnings of spring has brought a spontanious melt throughout the territory. Walrus was not usually such an early riser, however on this particular day he had awoken just as the sun was beginning to creep over the valley. Deciding to be oppertunistic he crept away from his resting place and headed west towards the river.

When he got there he was initially stunned by how high the river had raised. It took him a moment to reconfigure himself and reason that the recent melt had brought in the extra water. Nonetheless he was still confident enough to stroll over to the waters edge and stare into the fast flowing rapids. The river roared and bubbled, yet Walrus leaned closer towards the egde. He glared intently at the white rushing water with a slight grin on his face. He stayed dead still, waiting, watching. A small bird pirched on one of his antlers, mistaking Walrus for a strange looking statue.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere he jumped into the river.

There was a loud splash as displaced water flew in all directions. The small bird very narrowly missed a watery fate, flying off at the very last split second. The river water was cold and strong. It beat at his body, trying to push him into its depths. Walrus stood strong against the current, his head submerged. Within an instant he darted around, throwing all of his energy into moving against the torrent. He raised his head, water dripping from his fur. Some water plants had gotten entangled on his antlers.

Walrus emerged from the water looking somewhat equatable to a drowned amombinable snowman. He appeared happy. Hiding his large grin was an even larger fish. It was flapping and flailing around violently, but the fish was no match for Walrus's strong bite. He kept a firm grip on his fish as he returned, his steps trying despeately to contain his excitement. The morning truly had been a good morning well spent.

[Glare] An unlikely friendship

Postby Raptocidic » Wed Apr 01, 2020 3:12 am

Walrus is a somewhat stubborn individual. He does things his way and 'his way' is certainly different. He's either on a different page or an entirely different plane of reality. Unlike common misconception he is not out of touch with the world around him, rather he simply sees the world in a different way. Although his way of living can sometimes be annoying, there's something unusally helpful about asking for him imput.

This is why to Alistair he is an incredibly valuable member of Glare. In truth when others aren't complaining about his weird ways they actually adore Walrus and his odd ideas. He seems unbotheted by a lot and that makes him easy to get along with. He's also large and strong, so even the most argumentative individuals avoid picking a fight if he's around. Alistair and Walrus get along rather well, both respecting each others slightly different interpetations of the world. They commonly work together on tasks they otherwise would not be able to complete alone. The two always appeare to be bouuncing off each others strenths to cover the other ones weaknesses.

Perhaps if the two had met on different circumtances then their opinions of each other would be entirely different. But as events played out the two never really found each other irritable. When they first met they were both young, two passerbys who never talked but they acknowledged each other and the similar paths they seem to have taken. The two never forgot each other, and upon crossing paths later on they greeted each other as if they had been lifelong friends. As such an alliance and lifelong friendship formed. The two would have almost certainly have been bitter rivals if they hadn't recognised each other.

[Glare] Simpily a normal day

Postby Raptocidic » Wed Apr 01, 2020 4:41 am

The events of a typical day in Glare varies day to day. Some activities are seasonal and cannot be done at certain times of the year. Some activities require certain weather, others don't. Whatever the current situation is the idea is to be doing whatever actually needs doing at that time. Alistair is often too disorganised to properly plan, yet somehow Glare manages to structure itself just enough to have the foresight to prepare for the forseeable future. On some days it seems like Glare just runs itself.

A regular day, like any other day, starts off with the rising of the sun. This wakes a few of the cats, usually the same early risers. Theres usually one or two cats already awake, one or two individuals who got the last night shift of keeping watch over the territory. A few hours later and other cats will wake up and for a short moment on some days all Glare members will be awake at the same time. This doesn't last long as no matter how much you try you're not going to have much luck stopping a cat from having their cat naps.

In fact, a typical day is mostly spent sleeping. Inbetween this cats will hunt first and foremost. Food is shared whenever there is excess, but only once a cat has had their personal fill. This attitude does change during harsher winter if food is scarce, in which case Glare tend to be more sharing with their food. At all times of the year if a cat is unable to hunt for themselves for whatever reason someone will catch something for them; they will always be cared for. None of this is really enforced by Alistair at all, its just an attitude that has developed in the community.

When they're not sleeping cat will take turns in watching the territory and keeping gaurd. There is a lot of territory to protect and as a result patrolling can take up several hours. There is usually a daily patrol around the territory, the workload being split up by each cat. Cats will patrol alone in the inner sections of the territory and will patrol in pairs or small groups at the outer parts of the territory. This was one of Alistairs ideas, to make sure the cats who are patrolling the boarders are more safe than they would be patrolling alone.

Inbetween or after a patrol, which occurs at no particular time of the day, the cats will either sleep and rest or do something of their personal interest. Some cats, particularly newer members or adolectents, will explore parts of the territory they haven't yet been to. Others distract themselves chasing bugs and beetles. Others will sit on the southern hill and ponder about life as they stare into the distance. The abundance of free time and a feeling of freedom helps keep the cats happy. Alistair knows if he forced them to do things that they didn't see as essential they would eventually grow tired and leave, or try to overthrow him.

Some members dedicate time to training. Some train alone and others in small groups. This time is also used to teach kits the basics and way of life in Glare. Alistair reccomends cats train in some way, but theres really nothing to enforce it. Alistair himself only trains for battle when the activity has interested him and it doesn't take long for him to get distracted.

As night time comes the day doesn't end. In fact for many it has just begun. Some cats will sleep through most of the night but others are far more active after the sun sets. Allowing for a range of times in each cats activities allows them to cover all hours, with someone always watching over the territory. A big part in this behaviour is to do with the cats inner fear of an attack, something many members are paranoid about.

Throughout the night cats take it in turns to keep watch. Some will hunt at this time and do other activities, but there will always be someone with the job of making sure the den site is safe. Almost as if someone suddenly turned on the lights the next day is always there in no time and the regular cycle of Glare life goes about siimilar to how it did before. Things the cats do vary greatly, for example if something is blocking the river they will likely spend a lot of time unblocking it that day.
