Blizzardstrike groggily steps out of the warriors den, the large Tom stretching out his limbs with a yawn, though he pauses mid stretch as the scent of blood hits his nose. He blinks his eyes open again, staring at the body of the now deceased Tinynose. “What- when- What happened?!” He stutters, in disbelief that one of his clanmates could be so suddenly gone without warning.

Dovepaw blinked, not realizing Aspenfang was there. "Yes, Aspenfang," she responded to the warrior, before quickly moving away from the warriors and the body of Tinynose. Shaking her head, she trotted over to the leaders den. "Berrystar, there's a death in the clan," she meowed, trying to stay calm.

Aspenfang straightened up again with a grave expression. She really had not smelled anything but her own clan all over Tinynose's body. There was no hint of outsider scents or that of dangerous animals that might have caused her death, a death that Blizzardstrike seemed to just be becoming aware of, judging by his bewildered questions.
"Tinynose is dead. We don't know what happened, but it looks like it was on purpose."
Aspenfang spoke bluntly, making no effort to soften the blow of the news to Blizzardstrike. He already knew, anyway. He was looking at it right in front of him. All she was doing was answering his question.
Vaguely, she was aware of Dovepaw's voice, diligently doing as she was told. Aspenfang flicked an ear in response, glad to have the youngest current onlooker out from underpaw. Once Dovepaw was out of earshot, she shared just what she had smelled before Blizzardstrike interrupted.
"Spiderclaw's right, by the way. It's ThunderClan. Nothing but ThunderClan."

The tom groggily stirred as Dovepaw's statement rang into the den. "What?" he mewed, quickly rising to his paws when he noticed Tinynose's scent has grown stale. 'Her scent should still be fresh?' he worried as he raced out the den.

The brute yowled out as he saw his once beloved mate dead, blood seeped into the ground around her. He knows he shouldn't show his clan this much emotion, he had to be strong for them, but no one prepares you for something like this. He approached the frail, dead body and sat down, stuffing his nose into her soft, cold fur. "What are we talking about?" Berrystar asked, his tone dripping with sorrow and authority.

Raveneye spoke up first, seeing how in pain his leader was, "There... There's not..-" His voice got caught in his throat as he spoke softly, sorrow and fear in his voice, "There's no outside scents on her other than Thunderclan," He explained slowly, worry glittering in his eyes, "No predator or rouge scent at all. We think someone within the clan did it, but... I personally don't know who." He finished, wondering how his leader would react to such a bold claim.

Spiderclaw snarled at the body in anger, eyes narrowed. "Whoever did this is going to pay for their crimes!" He hissed angrily to the sky. "Starclan won't leave us, they know as well that they are going to pay!" Pushing himself up onto his paws from his haunches, he padded to the warriors den.

Berrystar was not taking the news of Tinynose's death particularly well, but Aspenfang supposed he could be forgiven for that, considering the circumstances of having just lost his mate. Still, he needed to know. Something needed to be done, after all.
Aspenfang remained silent while Raveneye took the lead in explaining what had happened, and what little the gathered cats knew about it. While several of them had already realized it, Raveneye was the first to put words to the apparent truth that the killer was among them. Putting voice to that reality seemed to bother Spiderclaw especially. Aspenfang was slightly startled by his expression of anger, but given the rising tangle of emotions within her as well, she could hardly blame him. After Spiderclaw stalked off, Aspenfang spoke again, blunt as ever.
"If we've learned all we can from the body, then someone really should take care of it-"
Aspenfang lightly tapped Tinynose's still flank with her paw to indicate the subject of her proposal, but stopped herself upon realizing she had referred to Tinynose's corpse as an "it" right in front of Berrystar. She glanced at him, clearly aware of her blunder, and quickly corrected herself in an effort to remain respectful of her leader in his grief.
"Her. She needs a burial."

BLIZZARDSTRIKE POV:

“This isn’t fair.”

“Barely anyone even voted!”

It would be an understatement to say I was irritated, but it’s not
exactly like there was anything I could control about my fate at this
point. This was it. This was goodbye.

My glossy, thick fur paced forwards and backwards with the cold wind; snowflakes
falling gently on the ground near me marking Leafbare as I emptily
stared at the Thunderclan territory.

Berrystar stood at highrock, standing still and hinting little to no emotion.

“Blizzardstrike-“

“I know.”

“Goodbye.”

I doubt the entire clan was there to watch me leave- I doubt
the entire clan even cared about the murderer. I wonder if the murderer
was even watching. But wait- I forgot something.

Lostpaw, Stripepaw, Dovepaw, Terrorspririt and Ocelotstep. My kits. My mate. My sister.

What are they going to do?

They’ll be fine without me; they don’t necessarily rely on me anyway.

Who voted for me? Why did they vote for me?

I stared at my family for a final moment, before padding away into
Starclan knows where.
