Waking quietly, Brackenpaw blinked the yellow dawn out of his eyes before stirring. He wasn't the first to rise - Briarpaw was up, he could see her head poking out of her nest - but they were the only two apprentices so far, a thought that send a small thrill of excitement through his pelt. She looked a bit restless; but then, she always did, working hard every day. Brackenpaw only wished he could share that excitement when it came to training - hunting and chores, sure, but not fighting. The tom still didn't like to fight, or even think about being in battle, and was grateful that he hadn't had to fight yet. Standing and stretching, Brackenpaw padded over to Briarpaw and mewed a quiet greeting. "Morning, Briarpaw. Looking for your mentor?" He followed her gaze into the clearing, which was fairly empty except for Lilystar and Windchaser. "I never really know when Maplefoot will get up. Sometimes she's up before dawn, and sometimes I'm the one who drags her out of her nest instead of the other way around," he whispered, chuckling a little.

Winterstorm ducked his head under the roof of the warrior's den, careful not to catch his fur on it. It had always just been a tad too short for the tall warrior, and there were many evenings where he'd embarrassingly gotten caught, too tired to remember to duck. The tom scanned the clearing. Windchaser was awake, sitting by himself; most likely, he was waiting for Rushwing. Lilystar was eating in a warm patch of grass. Deciding to join her, Winterstorm dipped his head in a greeting to Windchaser and grabbed a fish. He was one of the few cats that preferred the sea animal over everything else. Bowing his head to the white she-cat, Winterstorm dropped the fish. "Good morning, Lilystar. May I join you?"

Thunderfur sighed. Another night with no sleep, and the golden warrior still wasn't drowsy. It certainly wasn't for lack of being tired; the tom worked hard every day and had gone ages without sleep. No. It was the dreams. Horrible nightmares plagued him at every turn; he watched his father, his mother, his brother, even his rotten sister, die in front of him, night after night, as if his subconscious was screaming
Your fault! Your fault! until the warrior woke. Not that he didn't appreciate the quiet, starry nights he often spent by the river. The white noise calmed him, its power reminding him that some things were out of his control. A rustle in the bushes alerted him; Thunderfur spotted a pelt flash through the undergrowth, and scented Forestfire. "Good morning," he said in his deep meow. "I didn't know you were out here, too." The older warrior had a few twigs and leaves poking out of his pelt. "Did you sleep out here?" Not waiting for a response, Thunderfur fell into step with Forestfire. "I did as well." Best leave out the part where he didn't actually sleep.

Dawnglow kept her eyes shut against the light filtering into the den. She wasn't ready to wake up yet; the cold breeze outside told her that it was much, much too early. Yes, much to early to deal with energetic little furballs, noisy apprentices, and.... oh, who was she kidding. She loved it. Loved the hustle and bustle of a clan day, with the eager young cats learning and playing, the strong warriors protecting them, and the kits - well, kit - romping in the sunlight. But that wasn't happening yet. So sleep she will. Curling her tail around her daughter, she hummed as she fell- Wait. Joykit. Where was she? "Joykit?"

The tiny fuzzball blinked as she poked her head around the wall of the medicine den. It was. SO. BIG. She'd been in there once or twice, but didn't remember it very well. IT WAS HUGE. Joykit gasped a little as Brightnoise turned toward the entrance. She had waited VERY PATIENTLY for the amber-eyed warrior - what was his name, Windclaw? no, Birdchaser..? - to leave the den, and now SHE was going to visit the medicine cat. For VERY IMPORTANT BUSINESS. Clearing her throat, Joykit jumped forward bravely. "Brightnoise, I need to see you! For VERY IMPORTANT BUSINESS," she mewed at a harsh whisper, seeing that the apprentice was still asleep.

Groannnn. Was it time to wake up already? She hated to admit it, but after a season in the elder's den, she was feeling a bit lazier. It was pretty sweet to have apprentices wait on such a young cat...but then again, it was pretty awful to have apprentices wait on such a young cat. Skylark kept her eyes closed, knowing that no one was really doing anything yet, and what was the point in opening them? Too much work for an elder.

"Wooooohoooo!" The young molly shrieked with delight. Usually, she was MUCH more dignified than this; she really is a Very Serious Cat. Most of the time. Right about now, before the forest wakes, however, she is a very awesome cat who loves slides. Wanda had found a downed tree just yesterday, and with the rain she scented coming, she had (in a stroke of genius) covered the tree in moss. Now, it was the perfect slide, with little to no danger of hurting her. What a great idea!
