"You're right. I'll see you in a few minutes, then." Gavotte nodded, glad that one of them was taking initiative. He himself tended to be a chronic hesitator. It was an ongoing problem, one he needed to resolve so he could contribute to the Phoenix Squad. His tendency to freeze up in stressful situations would only drag everyone else down.
Jen, however, she was different. No matter the danger, she seemed to know exactly what to do. Gavotte looked up to her in that regard. Maybe he could learn a thing or two...
He followed her back to shore and grabbed his clothes, then parted ways. No towel was needed for the water-manipulator, who simply abused his power to dry himself off. Once he reached the grass, not a drop of water remained on his skin, making changing much quicker and less tedious. His hair was still a little damp afterwards, but he couldn't be too perfectionistic.
Emerging from the grass in his semi-formal clothes, Gavotte folded up his reasonably-dry swim trunks and put them away. He straightened the collar of his shirt as he approached Jen. She looked comfortable in the clothes that fit her well, both in shape and in personality. Gavotte smiled, about to strike up some casual conversation when he noticed something in the distance. A boat. "Oh, I hope that's not Royal Guard. Should we be worried?"

A trill of alarm could be heard from the phoenix as her friend collapsed into the water. Bracing herself against the cold, she waded forward as if through molasses.
"Are you okay baby?" Sycamore called out, one brow quirked up in confusion. She wasn't entirely sure what was happening. Reaching her arms down into the water, she waved them about in an ineffectual attempt to find Thiago.
Her efforts were interrupted abruptly. Thiago - no, a huge, terrifying monster surfaced from the ocean, roaring and rearing up to attack. Sycamore shrieked in laughter. "You evil beast! How dare you eat my friend," She accused before lunging forward to 'attack'. As you would expect, this assault was nothing more than a big hug. Sycamore apparently didn't know the difference between combative grappling and affectionate cuddling.
The waves were starting to get much worse now, and not because of her roughhousing. That's when Sycamore saw it. The ship, towering and dark, a cold silhouette on the horizon.
"Umm... maybe we should get out of here."

Gratitude shone in watery blue eyes as Addison made her promises. It had been so long since Nessa last spoke with a human, but there was no mistaking the sincerity and passion in the girl's voice. She was genuine, a kindred soul burning with determination to make this world better. And her smaller companion seemed just as true.
Maybe... humans can change after all, Nessa wondered, finally finding the strength to smile at the two of them. Something warm had been rekindled in her heart.
Before she could say anything, however, she saw it. The monster that destroyed her reef.
"No!" A gasp of horror escaped her as she backed away, stumbling over her own stairsteps in a panic. Without another word, she turned and ran up the stairs, long legs taking her three steps at a time. She burst into the safety of her house as the door slammed behind her.

Atlanta watched carefully as her volunteers approached the strange lady. She had to admit, she wasn't expecting this Nessa to be that intimidating. There was a sort of eerie, otherworldly atmosphere surrounding her that the commander couldn't quite pinpoint. Thankfully, Nessa seemed more timid than threatening, and after a brief conversation fled back into her home. The poor lady seemed incredibly uncomfortable with human contact.
"I agree," She said to Brenn. "Aisling and Addison are great for the job, too. They're both calm and clear-headed, especially in situations that might be... strange."
While waiting for her allies to return, the commander noticed a large shadow appearing from the horizon. The shape was strange, nothing like the boats that normally came here. Seagulls overhead circled once, then fled the area with squawks of alarm. Atlanta wasn't the most in-tune with her Forell trait, but she recognized the vague sentiments at least. Something about this ship was off. Maybe this was the real reason Nessa had run off?
