To say the violin was important to
Emmery was a gross under statement.
If she were asked to cut off her leg to save the violin from harm,
she would do it in a heartbeat.
The violin was a gift to her from her one and only mentor -
Raven.
He was an exceptional bard, one of a kind. Even you might have even heard of him.
She could only hope to ever live up to his skill, his reputation.
But Raven was never simply her mentor, Emmery always saw the purple haired kalon
as more of a father, a parent that she'd always dreamed of having.
She knew that it wasn't proper to speak of her birth parents in such a...
disrespectful way but she had always known that she was destined for more
than to simply be wed to a well off suitor just so her family could earn some money...
No, most of her childhood she spent daydreaming of the countless adventures
she could go on the moment she was free from the family that
bound her to a life that she never wanted. Emmery had always seen herself as apart of
something bigger, like a hero of a story not yet written.
"And Raven was the one who had started me on my 'grand adventure'.
I would have never had become a proper bard without his help.
In truth, I wouldn't be who I am now without him." The corners of her mouth
dipped into a frown as her story trailed on,
"It was partially my fault really, that he had... y'know... I was there,
he was in my arms. I just wish I could have done something
to actually save him." Emmery smiled sorrowfully at her violin as she fondly
traced the shape of the scroll with her thumb. She swiftly placed the violin back
in its case as she stood up once more,
"All I can hope is that he's watching over me from somewhere,
proud of who I am now. The violin helps me keep his memory alive,
it's almost as if he's by my side when I play." Emmery's eyes clouded over as she gazed
up at the clear blue sky, an air of melancholy surrounding her.
