is he neutered? intact males are naturally territorial and will mark the house to claim it from other males who might compete with him for females in his territory.
^ This. Plus first off you need to be sure it is territorial. Has he always done this? Has something changed in his environment, such as a move, or the addition of a new family member? Have schedules changed?
I highly recommend you go to a vet as many health issues could cause a dog to start urinating in the house.

we discouraged this from the beginning and haven’t had problems. clean the area so the scent is gone. belly bands have helped some people the unruly marking. neutered dogs also mark. we had a neutered min pin at one point who would always go to the entertainment center and mark. back then we didn’t know of belly bands since i was in pampers. When Loki started the behavior? we didn’t give him free reign indoors until he realized any sort of marking etc inside was not wanted. he’s 5, intact and hasn’t marked indoors. It could also be the people prior had animals and he smells that if you just moved somewhere new.

he is neutered. he came from a home with no dogs and we have another dog (male), so i think thats part of the issue. he never marked in the home he used to live in.
he's been to the vet and the vet didnt find any issues.
ive tried belly bands (whoever said that, i didnt quote you) and after a few times he peed in them and washing them they started to smell real bad, so we threw them out.
the only thing i can think to do is take him on long walks so he can mark a lot outside, but it hasnt stopped it in the house. every day i smell out a new spot hes been marking

well he was found on the street when he was 3 years old. he then lived with my dad for a year, and as far as i know he didnt really leave the house or get taken on walks. after a year my dad gave him to me cause he couldnt take care of him anymore. at the time we got him, we had three male dogs and two of the three didnt like him and snarled and tried to attack him. they quickly warmed up though. two of the three dogs we had passed away. the one we have left was one that was aggressive towards him, but now they pretty much ignore each other. the dog in question has been with us almost two years now, and marking has been a problem since the beginning.

marking has probably become a habit, if he was a stray. are the other dogs intact? do the other dogs mark as well? he might be reacting to a new thing in the house or a new person. have other animals started hanging around the house, or marking your house on the outside? try to keep him away from windows is this is the case. anxiety could be another reason, maybe linked with a new object in the house. even the smallest change, like you wearing a new jacket regularly could scare him. keep him away from things he's marked and pee spots.
