E5 : A new cub was found straggling about in the wilderness, how did your lions find them and what do they do with it? (700 word minimum)It was starting to get warmer. Now that the wet season was over, spring was starting to set in. It would still rain sometimes but not nearly as often. Elewisa, Sanaa, and Ashura had congregated near the jaribio ruins. They had only been in the region for a couple of days. Elewisa was the appointed lord of the region, the second lord to be named for the pride. Sanaa was a knight taking after her father. Ashura, taking up the same practice as his mother, was the healer for the region. Though his title was more accurately a healer's apprentice. Only their sibling Subira hadn't been placed in this region alongside them. Instead, she was the healer's apprentice in the first lorded region under Lord Kamili. They had all been to the ruins before, of course. In fact, not too long ago. These ruins were where the cubs came to earn their rank. They had decided to meet up to discuss their plans for the day.
"What else needs to be explored?"
"I'd like some documentation of any medicinal herbs in the region. Particularly those that can't be found outside this area. I think it'll help mom out to know what's available out here."
"That's a good idea, Ashura. I can help with that. Sanaa?"
"I was planning to keep an out for the local wildlife."
"Again?"
"I just want to be sure of what is and what isn't a threat out here. Besides, it's always good to keep an eye out. We've got neighbors not too far past the desert."
Elewisa nodded his head gently. "Fair enough. We'll meet back here for supper. I'll be sure to grab something."
The two boys headed off in one direction while Sanaa headed in the other. She needed to be aware of everything in the regions. It was her job, after all, to protect the region. She wandered more toward the direction of the desert. A small pond here and a patch of sand there. This region was very odd compared to the others. Trees were short but lush, some even growing fruit. The grass was soft. Pockets of sand. Even a few pools of water.
A group of playful lemurs were running around some trees. She watched them for a moment then noticed something else playing with them. Getting a little closer but not too close to spook the game, she could just make out the form. A surprised gasp escaped her as she could make out a cub. Just as energetic as the lemurs and even being allowed close enough to play with them. It was strange to see. A growling caught her attention and apparently the attention of the lemurs and the cub also. Turning to the sound, she saw the source. A honey badger.
"Oh no."
She'd have to break cover to keep that honey badger away. Without hesitation, she jumped between the the two and bared her teeth. She growled low giving the honey badger some pause. The lemurs had taken to the nearby trees and the cub backed up to the tree trunk. After a few minutes of standoff, the smaller predator thought better of it and took off. She waited a moment to make sure he wasn't coming back before turning to check on the cub.
"You alright?"
The cub nodded with an awestruck gape. "Wow. That was awesome! Those badgers are mean."
Sanaa chuckled softly. "Yeah, they're pretty tough. What are you doing out here?"
"Oh, I'm playing with my friends." He turned back to look at the lemurs who were still sitting up in the trees.
She followed his gaze then looked back down at him. "By yourself?"
"Well... yeah."
"Where are your parents?"
The cub looked thoughtful for a moment. "My parents?" He shook his head with a pursed expression. "No, I don't have parents."
"What do you mean? You have to have parents. How'd you get to be out here?"
"I don't know. I don't remember. I just wanted a friend to play with. I guess I've been here for some days."
Sanaa thought for a moment. He could've been here the whole time they've been here. Maybe longer. "Why don't you come with me?"
"Why?"
"I've got some friends that would love to meet you."
"Really?"
"Really. Come on. I promise there'll be food too."
The cub smiled brightly as he bounded up to follow after her.

A8 : What would be the emblem/symbol of your pride and why? (50 word minimum)In simplest terms, it would be two paws grasping each other. Almost like a handshake or a helping hand. One paw is designed after that of the founding queen, Firyali. White arm giving way to a charcoal paw. The second paw is pitch black, almost like the canvas was black and this area just wasn't filled in; a void in the painting. It's unknowing. But that's the point. It doesn't matter what the paw looks like, only that it's being accepted. Above all else, Pekee Pamoja wants to be known for their acceptance.

A9 : What is your pride’s biggest threat? (200 words or 1 art piece minimum)It really depends on the region. Maeneo ya Kufa is prone to droughts and fires. The region is pretty dangerous itself even without natural disasters. Msitu wa Baridi gets a lot of snow and near the mountains there's the occasional avalanche. Kuni wa Mkondo with its huge river network can flood pretty bad. The ground was rich and in some spots, they give way to sinkholes. Ukumbi wa Paradiso and Kikoa cha Zamani didn't really have large natural disasters if any. One thing all the regions could count as a threat were the hyenas. The valley has a balance but that balance breaks if the hyenas move in. They were scavengers and didn't share the lions- or for that matter, the African wild dogs- view of balance. If they over hunt, there'd be nothing left to sustain them later on. When Firyali had first come through, she crossed paths with the wild dogs. On the condition that the lions would help keep the hyenas out, she was permitted to stay and start a pride. Having her own dislike for the creatures, she agreed. A week later when Tendaji showed up, a few of the hyenas had been met with resistance by Firyali and the leader of the wild dogs along with some of his guards. Tendaji had convinced them the herds were carrying a virus that would make them sick which had them retreating. Since then, they'd only spotted a hyena scout here and there. It was odd they stopped trying to come in force.
What they didn't know was they hyenas were making a plan. As of the moment, only Nuru has seen it. One of her visions showed her the wild dogs fleeing the jungle and the only indication of what it could be was the hideous cackle of some hyenas. From what she gathered, this would take place during the fall season. Which fall, she wasn't sure and there was no way of knowing. How many hyenas there were was uncertain, but it was clear there were more than they would have thought. In addition to the wild dogs forces, some of the lions received injury and fewer very fatal- almost to the point of death. The hyenas were strong and resilient. If they were up to something, it was surely something no good.

A10 : What is your pride’s greatest strength, and greatest weakness? (50 word minimum EACH)Pekee Pamoja's greatest strength is probably their connection. While some of the lions would rather look out for themselves, during a crisis all of them would come together. They know they've got each others backs. There are plenty of lions ranked for protection. Guards for the royal families, knights for the general populace, and to an extent the hunters are their back up should a fight come to them. Now that the pride has grown so large, they've expanded out to two other regions in the area. Even being a day's travel from the main pride, they'd come together.
While it may seem so good to be prepared, it means nothing if they can't actually use any of it. Thy have an excellent idea implemented but it's one thing to say it and another to do it. They have yet to have a large threat that would use their forces. Should the day come, without practice or drills to get an idea of how to work through things should they have to fight, they wouldn't last very long in an attack.

D15 : Generate a random first line OR random quote here, and write a short story with it. (300 word minimum)Quote : "He wanted to tell him how much he loved him but..."It had been sometime since he joined the pride. Jengo was one of the hunters in the pride under Kamili's rule. The other hunters had been in the pride much longer than he had. Marjani, the lioness with heterochromia was a bit rough around the edges. She's always so focused on the work. Faraji was feisty but Jengo could see the softness in him too. He was protective. Jengo was seen as a bit different from the others. His style of hunting usually meant laying traps. He wasn't very strong, but he didn't let that stop him from using his smarts to lay intricate snares. Marjani didn't really bother with it. Said it was a waste of time when hunting in the traditional sense got things done quicker. Faraji didn't really say much on it but he offered to help Jengo with a more involved way of hunting. They would start small. Hares and birds were plentiful in the area and made for easy catches. On days off or sometimes after hunts, they would get together to practice.
Jengo was grateful for the lessons and enjoyed spending time with Faraji. It was strange to think about sometimes. Faraji had a tendency to be hostile to others. Jengo never felt that Faraji was that way to him. Sure, there were times when he'd get annoyed at the unusual tactics Jengo had or frustrated if a lesson didn't stick, but never hostility. Perhaps the spotted lion wasn't as hostile as the others made him out to be. Or maybe he just had a soft spot for Jengo. The thought was crazy to think about and he didn't want to hope. All this time he spent with the stronger hunter, all the training and tips, the thought that Faraji wanted to see him be a better hunter. All these things- these feelings building up inside him. He wanted to tell him how much he loved him but how could he do that? What if the feelings weren't returned? What if he didn't even feel that way at all toward him? No. Better to keep it to himself.

C9 : What are the duties of the lowest ranked pride member? (150 word minimum)The lowest rank in the pride would be the civilian role. This rank can be assigned to a wide range of lions and which age group it's assigned to has differing duties. The lowest tier would be the cubs. They're considered civilians until they're old enough to participate in Kuja Kwa Uzee. As cubs, they don't really hold any responsibilities. This is a time of learning for them. The mid tier would be retired lions or the elders. They have minimal tasks which include helping with the cubs. While they may no longer hold rank, they can still offer aid in the role they used to play. The highest tier would be for the adults who completed the coming of age ceremony but did not receive rank. This tier holds the highest amount of responsibilities. In addition to aiding with the cubs, they may be asked to fill in for other ranks during times of crisis. For example, should the pride ever go to war the civilians would be asked to fill in for the knights, patrolling the pride grounds and defending those left behind.

C10 : How likely are members within the pride to rally behind their leader when called to do so? (150 word minimum)It would depend on the individual lion, but most if not all would contribute to giving nothing less than the bare minimum support. The willingness to offer aid would also differ depending on the situation. If the rally was for something on the simpler side of things such as searching for a lost member or helping a lion in distress, more are likely to step up. For something a little more complex like a war or battle, there might be less members willing to join the cause. Not necessarily because they don't want to help but because they're not sure how or perhaps don't think they would be much help. They may offer their aid in other ways if it was applicable. The healer, for example, might not join the fight but would offer her services to do what she can for those that got injured. She knows she'd do better off the battlefield than on it. Overall, the pride would do their best to help the pride in whatever capacity they're capable.

C21 : How do your pride members greet each other? Does it vary between ranks or is there a universal method? How did it start? (150 word minimum)While there are ranks of authority and a definitive rank pyramid, the pride is rather casual with one another. On most occasions, lions will nod to one another. It's a basic form of greeting and even a simple form of respect. While this is the most casual acknowledgment between others, it's usually typical to have the lower ranking member start the nodding. If a situation was more serious, the greeting might vary. When speaking with the ruling king about important matters, the knights may bow to signify the importance of the conversation. The hunters would do the same for the queen. While he's not royalty, some of the others may bow to the royal adviser as well. Whether it's for his rank or for his being mated to the founding queen was unknown. As for how it started, it seemed to just be something that happened. The particular way someone nodded could say a lot.
