indentDespite his lost effort, he proceeded on his hunt. He desperately wanted to prove himself to his clan, for someday he wished to become as respected as Leopardstar. After all, if Leopardstar was able to gain respect, and he had once been a kittypet, surely any full-blood warrior would be able to. With nothing but determination, Littlefang set deeper into the forest. He noticed Doepaw out alone but chose to ignore it. He believed apprentices should have far more freedom than they currently receive. They were often not allowed to go out of camp without the escort of a warrior and Littlefang found that ridiculous.

indentDovestream subconsciously knew that it was time for her to awake because she had duties as a mentor. With a startled jump, she awoke, blinking open her eyes against the sunlight. She rose to her paws, giving a small yawn before heading out of the warrior's den. Wondering if Ripplepaw was still asleep, she glanced around camp in search of him. Her gaze soon landed upon him and she made her way over his way. "Good morning, looking for someone?" she gave a small smile.

While his dream had been good, all good things must come to an end. Swanpelt was well-used to waking at this hour, along with everyone else. It was impossible to ignore all the padding paws and cheery good-mornings. There was no sense feeling bitter about it. After all, a clan full of sleeping cats is not terribly secure.
Swanpelt kneaded the moss in his nest as he yawned and stretched his sleepiness away, and then he wandered out into camp with the rest of LightningClan. In his quick survey of camp, Swanpelt noted Leopardstar and Sagedeer talking about something, and assumed patrols would shortly be assigned. That suited him just fine. Swanpelt wondered if he would be chosen to see to anything in particular, or if he would be left to his own devices.

Whinchatclaw knew he had a responsibility to Beechpaw, but it seemed his apprentice had not woken up yet, judging by this simple fact that he was nowhere to be seen. It was not for a lack of looking, either. The fluffy, tabby tom had positioned himself in a comfortable corner of camp and sat with his tail wrapped neatly around his paws. All the while, he looked out and diligently watched for the first signs of an assignment directed his way. Whinchatclaw assumed patrols would be assigned shortly, and he wanted to be available to participate, so he waited despite the itching in his paw pads to get moving. As he waited, he felt his eyes settle on the entrance to the medicine cat den, where a certain ginger tabby was enjoying a carp breakfast. If only it were as easy as sauntering over with his own piece of prey and offering to share a meal.

There were a lot of things Darrel might concern himself with, but only one really mattered to him now. That thing was water. He had woken early to a terrible thirst and immediately headed towards the last place he could remember water being. Darrel had not actually seen the water, exactly, but the sound was unmistakable. He was sure that all he needed to do was follow his ears to the source, but that strategy was so far yielding no results. Darrel had crossed into LightningClan territory several minutes ago, and had still not located the water source. The sounds just grew louder and louder, and it was starting to become confusing. The bicolor tom had no clue as to what type of water could possibly be so noisy when he still could not even see it! As he walked at an increasingly hurried pace, Darrel briefly pondered turning back so as not to avoid a confrontation, but his thirst spurred him on. As soon as he had drunk his fill, he would be gone again, but he was convinced he would discover the water at any second and was unwilling to give up when he was so close to his goal.

She didn't realize Leopardstar had returned her gaze until he started padding over. "Of course. I'll leave right away. Thank you for letting me know," Sagedeer purred not unkindly and dipped her head. Despite her suspicions, she would have to do her duty as deputy. "Swanpelt, Blossomwing, would you please join me?" she called out as politely as possible while still wanting to get the cats' attention. "We're going on a patrol to secure the border and make sure there aren't any trespassers."

Blackpaw was fully awake now and glancing around at the others.

The pale tom pricked his ears forward at the sound of his name being called just loud enough to reach his ears, and no louder. It seemed Sagedeer had caught him looking in her direction and selected him for a patrol. That suited him just fine.It saved him the trouble of having to get creative with his morning contribution and gave him the opportunity to leave a good impression on his superior. Obediently, Swanpelt approached the deputy, his voice a rumbling purr as he spoke.
"A patrol, huh? Count me in. I'm guessing you want to leave right away?"
He puffed out his chest and lashed his tail to demonstrate his eagerness to get started. Meanwhile, Swanpelt's ears twitched, searching expectantly for Blossomwing's approaching pawsteps. She would no doubt be along any second now.

She looked at her apprentice for a moment, hearing the deputy calling few cats to join her to the border patrol. She walked over to the young cat "I see you were out, you know you could, at last, tell someone if you go out by yourself" she meowed to her calmly "so do you want to do some more huntings then?" she asked with a smile.

"No problem!" Swanpelt assured Sagedeer in response to her thanks for his assistance.
With that, he fell in at her flank and the three cats made their way out of camp together. He cast a glance at Blossomwing as she joined them. She seemed a bit more quiet than she usually was. Swanpelt was used to Blossomwing either being sweet and kind, or reckless and sharp-tongued, but quiet was something unusual for her. He decided that perhaps he should say something to her and try to figure out whether anything was wrong. It would be a nice step in his goal of collecting the trust of as many cats as possible. Besides, by the time she had a chance to answer, the patrol would likely have left camp and be out of earshot, so Blossomwing might be more willing to share what was on her mind, if anything.
