B e e s t a r dipped her head in thanks to Robinwind as he left the den. Purring lightly still, the queen wrapped herself around her two kits, exhausted. She was glad to have the comfort of her own den, empty now, save her kits. She closer her eyes, hoping to doze off a bit before Blizzardclaw and the patrol returned from the Gathering. She hoped her deputy didn't have too much to report.

Tigerblaze has asked me to make sure Bearpaw doesn't - oh no," he broke off in a groan, as he saw that Bearpaw was trotting towards them with an unfamiliar cat in tow. The calico apprentice behind her looked nervous, with wide green eyes trained on them. "We'd best keep quiet about it now," he whispered to Ivypaw and Splashpaw, before mewing a polite greeting to Bearpaw and the EagleClan apprentice.

Giving Creamflower one last nuzzle, Sunflare bid her goodnight before parting ways to go to his own den.

Tigerblaze shot a questioning look at Dappleleaf. There was a sense of urgency in the she-cat's voice, but he detected no trace of fear from her, so he wondered what could be so important that it warranted interrupting the leaders--well, one leader and one deputy, anyway. He was considering following the two when Mistflower stopped him to talk. The golden tabby's gaze was almost disturbingly cold, lacking anger or any real emotion. "Thanks for asking," he meowed dryly, "but no." Not waiting for a response, he stalked off in the direction of Blizzardclaw and Dappleleaf.

"It's okay," Splashpaw told him just as Bearpaw came into sight with another young cat behind her. The she-cat looked to be just about Splashpaw's age, but her eyes had a wideness to them and her fur a softness to it that reminded Splashpaw of a kit. "I've never seen her before," she whispered to her two friends, falling silent once the duo got closer. "Hi there, Quiverpaw," she greeted the she-cat with a smile. "I'm Splashpaw. It's nice to meet you," she introduced herself despite Bearpaw having already done so for her. "Is this your first gathering?" She spoke softly to the she-cat, somehow feeling that if she was any less gentle she might scare off the shy apprentice.

"Of course." Nightwish smiled at him. "All you can do until then is try to teach her as much as you can, and once she becomes an apprentice, it will be up to her mentor to do the rest." Flicking her tail thoughtfully, she suggested, "If you want, I could maybe practice play-hunting with her a bit?"

Southstar blinked in surprise as Dappleleaf came over and pulled her deputy away, but simply nodded in response and turned back to his own Clanmates. "Yeah, it does," he agreed with Foxcloud. In truth, it felt like a lot had been going on for the entire day, and although he couldn't quite pinpoint why, a wave of uneasiness hung over him, as if a lot more were about to happen. He shrugged the feeling away. "Do you three want to talk to any OakClan cats while we wait for the gathering to begin?" he asked the trio of she-cats, his eyes flicking briefly between Streamspot, Foxcloud, and Stagleap. He didn't want them to feel as if they had to stick by him, although he didn't mind their company.

Littleflower cocked her head in curiosity when she noticed a young OakClan she-cat--Dappleleaf, she recognized--walk up to Blizzardclaw and whisper something to him, a serious look on her face, before the deputy followed her to the outskirts of the clearing. "Wonder what that was about," she murmured before letting her gaze travel the former camp. "So, any OakClan she-cats catching your eye?" she changed the subject with a teasing tone. "Oh, there's Elmshade, talking to Goldenrose!" She nodded at the brown tabby she-cat chatting with their own Clanmate, a black tom beside her. "She's really nice. And pretty."

Darkpaw glanced up when a dark fluffy apprentice bounded up to him all of a sudden. He looked the she-cat up and down, noting how young she looked. "You just leave the nursery, kit?" he asked her, ignoring her introduction and not caring to introduce himself. He wasn't here to make friends.

"Or did you just climb out of the dirt place." Forcing her fur flat she was happy her mentor was out of ear-shot and hadn't heard her speak so rudely at a peaceful gathering. Mistflower glared at Tigerblaze as he choose to blow her off, which really hit a nerve for her. All she wanted was to finally explain to him and she would never get that. Even if she did go back to birth-clan she probably would then be called a traitor. "No you're going to listen to me!" She called after him, for once nearly yelling at him. When she was an apprentice for him, she was filled with mostly just anger from everything which was nearly the opposite of how she was now. She was a strong, calm, rational and brave cat.

"I'm going to go make sure Bearpaw isn't scaring that apprentice too badly," he mumbled, before trotting off towards her, leaving the three queens behind. Tigerblaze had told him to keep his eye on Bearpaw, so that's just what he'd do. "Bearpaw, are you making enemies?" He asked playfully, coming to stand beside her and dipping his head to Darkpaw. "Greetings," he said. "I'm Jackdawpaw."

Quick as lightning, Tigerblaze turned on her. His claws were sheathed and his fur lay flat, but the coldness in his eyes had only grown colder, and now there was a toxicity to them. "No, I won't," he hissed lowly, his muzzle less than a mouse-length from hers. "You asked if we could talk, and I said no. That's that. You made your choice when you left, and I respected that. You didn't see me run after you, trying to drag you back by your tail, did you?" He lashed his tail only once, his voice calm yet menacing. "So don't run after me, trying to make me listen to why you left, because it will make you feel better about your choice, because it will give you the closure you need. Because guess what? Maybe it will, but it's not going to do a thing for me. Respect my choice and leave me alone." With that, he padded off once again.

Splashpaw nodded. "Mine has been good. I've almost completed it, actually," she purred a bit proudly. "What about you? How far are you into your training?"

Darkpaw felt a bit bad. He had only been joking, not trying to anger the she-cat. I guess I would have been angry too. "Sure, I guess," he muttered, rising to his paws. He wasn't there to make friends, true, but the gathering hadn't started yet, so what did he have to lose? But just as he'd risen, another apprentice came over, a large jet-black tom. He twitched an ear at the apprentice's greeting. "Darkpaw," was all he said.

"You bet! Come on!" Without waiting for a response, Littleflower bounded into the crowd of cats, looking for someone free to chat with.

"Yes, go and show off a bit," Southstar encouraged Stagleap with a purr. "You deserve it, after all your moons of hard work." Turning back to Foxcloud, he replied, "You and Dappleleaf close?"

"Great!" Bearpaw meowed her tail shooting back into the air behind her ready to run back to the others. Just then Jackdogpaw came over. She stifled her laughter thinking about how close they had come to being enemies. "Of course not!" she meowed instead. Darkpaw still didn't sound excited when he answered Jackdogpaw but at least she knew his name now. Looking between the two black toms she couldn't help but notice how similar they looked. "Darkpaw's your EagleClan doppelganger, Jackdawpaw."

Weaselstripe was lucky he ran into Blizzardclaw and Dappleleaf a few tree-lengths away after leaving Destiny. "Yes. She's gone. She's just a loner passing through and heard all of us so wanted to know what was going on," he reported to his father before looking at Dappleleaf. As they headed back to the gathering he kept close to the she-cat, letting their fur touch a bit. "Why'd you go get him? I had everything under control," he whispered, frowning a bit.

Mistflower's ears laid back against her head, her claws now sheathed the moment that Tigerblaze had only done the same. She was ready to move at a moments notice. She let out a low his as she listened to him, her tail moving quickly as she was quite angry. That's all the tom ever brought to her - anger, he lit a flame within her moons ago and though she put it out and was no longer angry all the time, he knew how to bring it back. "I'm happy with my choice, I'm not pleased that everyone but you has let it go and forgiven me for my decision," she called after the tom as he padded away.

Foxcloud raised an eyebrow as she had caught Mistflower arguing with Tigerblaze it seemed. "What was that about? Mistflower is always peaceful," she murmured before she turned her attention back to Southstar. "Not that close, just friendly. I met her a moon or so after I became a warrior when she became an apprentice. I was closer to her mentor Violetwhisper who's now in starclan - we were about the same age when we started to come to gatherings," she told her leader. She purred quietly as the two of them were finally alone, she let her tail lay onto Southstar's as she moved slightly closer to the tom.

Stagleap relaxed some and took a deep breathe before they headed over to Goldenrose and Elmshade as well as a third cat she didn't know. "Greetings," she purred softly to the Oakclan warriors. When Elmshade shared the news that Splashpaw was going to be a warrior soon, she felt like she had an opening. She glanced at Streamspots once before she purred, "I just became a warrior you know."
