Peacockpaw nodded and, without another word, bounded over to Lochpaw and her mentor. "Good morning, Lochpaw, Tapirfoot," he greeted the two politely, dipping his head. "Rockrose and I are going to go hunting, perhaps with Canopypaw and Sunleaf. Would you two like to join us?" He smiled at Lochpaw as he asked them.
Whitetail was tempted to ask his mate why she enjoyed spending so much time with him. She was still a young she-cat, and while he was no where near old yet, there were certainly quite a few younger, handsomer toms in the clan that she could go after if she wanted to--and he wouldn't be surprised if she did want to, but only refrained from doing so out of a fear of being judged or a pressure to stay with him. He wasn't convinced that she actually did want to spend time with him specifically, as much as he thought that she just didn't want to be lonely. "Alright," he murmured, letting his own pelt brush against hers. He hesitated, silence filling the air between them for a moment, before finally saying, "You don't have to stay with me, you know."
"What's there to be jealous of? Sitting around camp?" Silverpaw joked, cuffing his brother over the ear. "Come on, lighten up. Camp guard seems cool, sort of...I bet you have a lot of time to talk with the other guards when there's no predators attacking. Maybe one day, you'll be a full grown camp guard, watching camp with a pretty she-cat, the stars twinkling overhead..." His eyes glinted mischievously.
Anacondafang nodded understandingly, taking a bite out of the fish after Piranhatail had. He swallowed his mouthful before answering, "Yes, I understand that. You know you're free to join a hunting patrol whenever you feel like it, you know." He knew after having been up all night the she-cat was usually too tired to go out hunting, but he thought he'd extend the invitation anyway. He didn't get to spend as much time with the she-cat as he would have liked. "It would be nice to hunt with you."
Cacaopaw let out a sigh of defeat. Rising slowly to her paws, she didn't even bother to groom her messy pelt as she ambled after Kinkajoupaw, out of the apprentices' den. Her paws felt like stones as she dragged them across the ground, and her eyelids felt just as heavy. Her tail drooped, leaving a trail in the mud behind her.
Having finished up his snake in a few bites, Pythontail rose to his paws when he saw Jaguarstar finish speaking with Harpytalon and Pantherstrike and padded up to the spotted tom. "Jaguarstar." He bowed his head to the leader. "I would like to join a patrol this morning, if you'd let me." After such an uneventful night, there was no way he was going to be stuck in camp all day sleeping.
As she groomed her pelt at the edge of camp, Rainfall glimpsed Jaguarstar seemingly finish his conversation with the two toms, but made no move toward him yet. She saw that Pythontail, on the other paw, had made a beeline for their leader almost the second he'd seen he was free. Leaders really don't get any personal space, she mused, feeling more grateful that she wasn't leader than sorry for Jaguarstar.
"Duskpaw still sleeping?" Fishbelly had come to sit beside Cobrastorm and her father and now had his tail wrapped around his paws. "You keep glancing over there," he observed. He wondered why she didn't just go wake her apprentice up, but wondered if part of the reason may be because she didn't want to wake her father, who had fallen asleep leaning against her.
