Tapt Barna
Night falls and the man Tapt has been stalking sets up his camp. Tapt and the Tnrp watch from a nearby dune. The tnrp gives Tapt looks of fear. They should stay away, the orehb were dangerous when they stampeded but to come this close to a two leg was just foolish. Tapt crawls forward under the dark sky, the shadow clinging to him. Within minutes he is only inches behind the man. He rises, bone blade in hand. A tnrp runs towards him snarling and barking. Confused, Tapt faces the beast. Just before it reaches him, his tnrp tackles the beast and the pair roll about in their struggle. The man spins around to face his attacker, his club flying towards Tapt. The boy blocks the blow and rolls backward onto the dune. He lunges forward, tackling the man. The boy slashes at the man's chest with his knife and rolls to the side as the club smashes into him once more. Tapt is filled with fear and joy at the same time. Here is a true challenge! The man and the boy circle facing each other. Nearby the tnrp do the same. All remain silent, watching their opponent. Tapt leaps forward, bluffing the man into thinking he is aiming for the throat but instead kicking off the man's knees. The man falls in pain, dropping his weapon. The boy springs atop him, his blade flying to the man's throat. Tapt stops, his opponent beaten. The two tnrp walk together and sit by his side.
"Well fought child. To what clan do you belong so I might honor your father?" Tapt steps away from the man and sits by his fire, completely silent.
"Very well. If you wish your reward shall be the comfort of my night's fire." The man settles down with his tnrp across from the boy.
BeikonBeikon rose early, excited by the other day. She swims quickly only remembering to eat thanks to her mope's prompting. She swims quickly hoping that the two Roea she'd met will return to the river today. Today she is going to do it. She is going to walk on the land!
I know what you are thinking Beikon. This is a bad idea, things can only go wrong. "Oh hush, you worry wart. You saw how nice those two were. And that Adonai guy was kinda cute." In her rush, Beikon fails to check the reef. Over night the current pushing through the tunnel in the reef further damaged the outer layer leaving small openings leading into the tunnel with a little curiosity a child could make their way into it. Beikon travels up the river soon arriving where she had met the others. She is disappointed to find them missing.
They aren't coming. We should go back. Beikon shakes her head defiantly.
"They'll be here...soon...I hope. You saw how curious they are."
