It’s just the save data that saves to the switch. The game itself is still on the cart. You’d only need to download game data if it has an update for bug fixes or something.

I’ve been debating on doing the physical or getting a digital copy since there’s not much difference but I like the box art so Im gonna stick to my pre ordered physical copy.

I think I personally prefer the physical copy only because I have very few of those. Rather save room for all those games I want on the eshop (and they go on sale regularly) when I know ACNH won’t. I am super excited though but I am hoping they release some of of the AC themed switches because I really want the updated model (and how could I say no to that theme? It’s so cute). I am kind of confused on the status since it’s special edition and I am not sure how it worked in the past. I do know I have to wait to play AC until I get a new switch model since you can’t transfer data.

Squirrelstar123: Special edition can be limited. There isn’t really a guarantee that they’ll restock the AC switch. If you can afford it now I’d recommend keeping an eye on one of its sale links. I know it’s sold out but sometimes people cancel their preorders and they’ll be a brief moment for someone to preorder. Edit: Should probably mention that some places only charge when it ships not when you preorder, at least in the US.
