I completely understand and realize that you didn't mean to come off as rude, as reading text can make things difficult. So there's no need to apologize. I understand. I myself got a little snarky, so for that, I apologize.

It did, however, seem a bit contradicting that you came here, to CS, for advice, and then tell others (like me) that you wouldn't share pictures because a professional opinion would matter more. Which is completely right, a professional opinion would matter far more than anyone on CS's opinion. But as Hewitt said, there was no reason to just assume that there weren't any professionals here lol.

But any professional/good/reputable breeder would also ask about OFA testing, titles, etc. They would also want to see the dog. You wouldn't buy a puppy without seeing it or the parents first, would you? Good breeders wouldn't agree to stud out a dog to a bitch they haven't seen.

The people who are asking questions about you and your dog aren't trying to get you to not breed your dog, they just want to know what your intentions and goals are as far as breeding goes. While "breeding to better the breed" is admirable, it's pretty vague. And working line dogs are often times dogs that don't fit the breed standard, working lines and show lines are different. While I won't argue or deny that you've probably done the research, the people here, including me, just want to know if it's the right research and you're aware of what you're getting into. Because puppies are a lot of work, and breeding is a lot of work, and you have to be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to it.

Personally, I would prioritize getting a mentor, OFA testing her when she's old enough, and then work on getting some titles. You don't have to breed the dog right after she's OFA tested, or right when she's two years if she does turn out to be breeding quality.

No, its not that i won't share pics. its that I'm just now beginning to understand how. I'd love for opinions on her when/if i figure out how and i promise to be nice

@sodapop. im super excited for you! Getting new puppy is so much fun!!

Edit: Also, what i wish i'd have done is desensitize Mazie to thunder by playing soundtracks when she was younger, still a work in progress lol!

get a crate beforehand! search "robert cabral crate training" on youtube, he has two crate training tutorials/tips and it's amazing! feed at certain times of the day and specific amounts, preferably in the crate. i wouldn't free feed especially with labs who are prone to bloat. get your puppy desensitized to loud noises and handling exercises, nail trim training too. start your training with engagement work and introduce verbal commands gradually.

As someone that’s owned a aussie out of a prick ear dam, be aware you are likely going to have to tape or glue the pups ears to ensure a proper ear set, even if bred to a nice button stud. I would definitely agree with waiting until she’s 3-4 to breed her so that you can get some good tiles on her first if it’s a sport breeding. Sport people want to see that a dog has been proven in sports before getting a pup off them. If you are only doing agility, I’d want to see some advanced titles before breeding atleast, along with a CGC. Personally I like to see multiple sport titles, especially on versatile breeds like aussies.

For the record, my qualifications to say this is: Animal professional for 4 years, have been doing agility for four years, training in various other sports for 2, and showing in conformation. I also currently own 2 young dogs that will be bred pending health testing and titling, and 2 that very well might be since they’ve proven to be so versatile and nice examples of their breed so far.

Speaking of versatile dogs I love, we got to go see Bones’ mom and sisters yesterday! (Well one sister is currently living with us, but we took her along lol) I absolutely adore his mother, she’s fantastic, and competes in a wide variety of sports. My goal is to get Bones’ name longer than hers lol. He should get his CGC soon, hoping to go for his RN too. Not sure what other titles we will add this year but we shall see. Gotta get his CH first, and maybe go right back out for his grand 👀

^Thank you, she has already passed the CGC test however. But we will definitely work on getting some titles!
I've been looking into conformation little bit. Would she be able to do conformation with her prick ears? My sister says she looks like a gremlin because of her ears  will they ever fold a little or stay the same? I haven't done a whole lot of research on prick ears..

Technically yes but realistically it would be a waste of money. Prick ears are a fault, and aussies are a incredibly competitive ring. Her ears are set at a year old, and like I said pups would likely have to be glued to make them correct. I personally wouldn’t breed a prick ear aussie unless it has some extremely impressive titles such as MACH
