so next week my pups go to their new home and honestly i'm going to miss them so much. i'm sad, yet happy that i am going away for the weekend so i'm not crying like a doof. we will be keeping one of them, mr. pamuk and i am going to be showing him in akc and ckcsc clubs. so far he's maturing very well and i am going to start his training when the weather starts getting better.

from left to right, carson, branson, abby, pamuk

So Hamlet has proven to be quietly destructive. He has torn apart our blinds, and has destroyed some very important cords. Luckily, we're not absolutely destitute so we'll be able to replace these things in due time, but he does absolutely nothing when we're home and he makes absolutely no noise so he doesn't even alert us to any issues he does have. We can't help you if you don't say anything!

He's not an awful dog, and I completely understand that rehabilitating rescues takes time but just never come across a dog like him before. Just venting a little.

Honestly, that’s not all that unusual. Most dogs are very well behaved when you are home. They want to please you. Most dogs also have varying degrees of separation anxiety. A common manifestation is destructive behavior. Also correct me if I am wrong, but you just got your dog?
I would be shocked if there were not some sort of anxiety/exploration going on... especially while you are gone.

I went though about 4 computer cords during the worst of Gizmos anxiety stages.
It will go away with time, and good training of both parties, human and dog.

Definitely sounds like possible separation anxiety or boredom, I'd suggest crate training or giving him a puzzle toy when you leave. Whats his daily exercise look like?

If it's separation anxiety you can maybe settle him in a doggyproof room with a towel or puzzle toy that smells like you and food, or just you. If you can clear out a bathroom and put towels and his crate and if he has an issue with this, pee-pads, this will be a perfect separation anxiety haven. You can play a radio outside the door to make it sound like you are home.

Separation anxiety is very hard to treat and you're not alone in your struggles. *hugs* Here's a like to a video that might help...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqPQKLh883s

Blue_Aussie wrote:So, I plan to breed my Australian shepherd when she's old enough. Obviously I've done LOTS of research and she is in perfect condition and has an awesome personality! Any tips/information would be very helpful! Feel free to PM me too!

Why do you want to breed her? do you want to risk your dog for puppies? and yes there is always a risk... are you ready to be free 24/7 for 8-12weeks and all your time and money to breed and care fr the puppy and health and show and work/sport titles you need.....got a room for them to give birth and be safe and play.....a good vet near that will come to you at deep night when she starts to give birth and has trouble...and so on and so on...
how old is she? when she is still a puppy or young dog, much can change and she can be of no use for breeding as not all dogs even when purebreed from working and champion show line...

is she a perfect example of her breed, great character- personality, working standart and mind, full health and genetic tested, tested DNA titles, and show tested with champion title and working or sport titles? are you a Kennel Club Assured Breeder? (
Inspected and Certified ...that a breeder has had a successful inspection carried out to standards assessed by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). These standards were formally introduced in January 2013 and only Kennel Club Assured Breeders that have completed a successful visit since that date are issued with a UKAS Certificate, ...Assured Breeders who meet all the scheme requirements and who have been issued with a UKAS certificate)
