I wish I could make better lions
The moment Pulin saw the new lion he knew he was different from the others he’d allowed into the pride. He wasnt attempting to count all the orange flowers like Arilyn had nor smiling with untold stories like Kinaaz, nor searching like Omisha seemed to be.
This new lion was covered in blood.
It was under his chin, on his paws. From a little distance Pulin could even see it covered his stomach. Pulins heart dropped. Had he been hunting on their land, or worse, had he killed one of the prides lions. Surely that was the only way to get covered in so much of the red liquid. Worse Pulin had been split up from Kinaaz and Arilyn, what if it was one of the twos blood covering the newcomer. Even worse, what if it was both of their blood.
Pulin walked straight up to the lion, bolstered with indignant anger at his thoughts. The newcomer looked at them and had the nerve to nod to Pulin in greeting. He didnt respond with the same respect, instead he puffed up with the protective urges of a father and loyal member of a family like pride. He could see the other lions eyes widen and his stance change but it wouldn't stop Pulin.
“This is Mystic Isles land. Who are you and what is the source of that blood.” Pulin asked, hints of defiance and anger colouring his voice. Despite the fact the other lion looked younger and fitter than him he would definitely attempt a takedown if this lion was a threat to those he loved.
“Mystic isle?” The lion questioned his voice low and eyes crinkled in confusion. “Blood?” He looked down at himself, sudden understanding clearing his face.
“Oh no,” He muttered “This isn't blood, this is my fur.” He swiped a paw along his neck and held it up for Pulin to see. There wasn't a hint of the red liquid on his paws, not even flakes of red if it had already dried. Pulin calmed down a little, sitting down but his harsh gaze did not waver.
“You didnt answer who you are, or what you're doing here.” Pulin stated. Dorion looked at him. “Are you some sort of guard dog?” Pulin bristled and Dorion backed up a little
“No offense man, but you seem to have a lot of questions thats all.” He hesitated a moment before continuing. “My name’s Dorion. I'm here to find someone called Siella?”
“Thats our- Mystic prides leader.” Dorion nodded as if that made sense
“Ah yes, would you mind taking me to them?” Pulin nodded slowly, still wary but perhaps Siella would know what to do with him.
As soon as they got to the prides main den area Pulin heard Ladon call out for Omisha.
“Omisha!” He yelled “Theres a lion covered in blood.” Pulin almost smiled, his tough facade breaking as he heard Dorion muttured sullenly next to him.
“Seriously… Not again.” Dorion moaned in complaint.
