the rowlet seemed to enjoy your comany,
chirping a cheerful greeting as it allowed
its feathers to riffle against your cheek.

"rowl-rowl" it cooed happily, and so the
professor walked over.

"ah, so you've met rowlet! he's a hard one
to control, I apologise if you were startled
by him" the man chuckled, feeding the bird
pokemon a few seeds.

"it looks like you two seem to like each
other, which is good because all of my
other starter pokemon have been chosen.
so, rowlet will be your new partner! here,
take this, it's a bag of his favourite seeds,
and oh-these too!" he smiled, handing you
a bag of bird feed, a bag of pokeballs(infinite)
and your pokedex.

"have fun on your adventure, the first route
is just up ahead, and safe travels!" he smiled.

Ruth whooped in triumph and the little tepig bounced up and down too.
"Yes! We did it! Great job sparky!" She picked him up and squeezed him. With a squeal, the little fire type wriggled away and they continued down the path into the forest, Ruth pocketing the leaf stone.

tepig trots happily down the pathway
alongside you, smiling and making sure
not to step on any flowers this time.

the pig-type pokemon seems to enjoy the
sunlight and the wilderness.

this time, admiring the flowers, it cutely
skips over to sniff some, but is quickly
caught off guard when a small giggle
is heard.

Nox looked at the pokemon in front of him. A Mienfoo! He hesitated for a second, trying to remember what he was supposed to do.

"Ches! Ches chespin!"

A slightly panicked voice snapped him out of it.

"R-right! Snickers, use Vine Whip!"

chespin successfully used vine whip!

it was a critical hit!

woah...and the move was extremely
effective....it looks like mienfoo only
has a bit of hp left.

the wild pokemon uses pound, and lowers
chespins hp.

now...

you can either finish the battle, or
catch the wild pokemon, what will
you do?

Bonni stretched her arms in the sunlight as she walked behind her Pokemon. Higgs was still on Zamazenta's back, who was content to lead the party. Skadi would occasionally look back and wag her tails at Bonni and the Pichu contentedly sitting in her pocket. The trainer looked up at the sky, watching a flock of bird Pokemon fly overhead. She then turned, smiling, and gave the little Pichu a pat on the head.

Looking around, Bonni called out to her team. "Let's stop here, guys!" They had stopped on the path next to some tall grass; she thought it would be a decent place to drop the Pichu, she didn't want it to be taken away by a hungry Pidgeot...or something. "Here you go little guy." she said to the tiny Pokemon, handing it what was left of the Pokepuff it was munching earlier. Her Vulpix looked at the Pichu then gave her a slightly sad, quizzical look.

The trainer felt slightly sad too, but gave Skadi a reassuring pat on the head. Not all wild Pokemon were as inherently friendly as this little one. "Well, what do you think Pichu? Think you'll be ok here?"

the tiny pokemon was sad, hesitant
almost to go back into the tall grass,
its eyes trailing up to you.

it nodded, before giving your leg a small
hug and peeping a goodbye, "pi-pichu!" it
waved sadly, scurrying into the grass.

though, once you start to walk away,
it seems to follow you.. and you can
hear the rustling in the grass alongside
you as you walk from the pichu trying to
keep up in secrecy.

Today was the day! The day she could finally get her first pokemon! Mirinae rushed to Professor Kukui's lab and waited for her turn to choose her starter. "Mirinae, you're next!" Finally! She walked into the lab, nearly bursting with excitement. "Follow me," Professor Kukui said, showing her to the room where the starters were kept. She looked around trying to choose which one she should pick, they were all so cute! Suddenly she felt something rub against her leg. She looked down to find a litten cuddling into her. She knelt down and stroked it. "Aw, aren't you just adorable." The litten purred and Mirinae lifted it up. "I choose this one!" She said confidently to the Professor. "Okay, here's their pokeball," he said, handing Mirinae a pokeball. "Thank you," she said as she took the pokeball. She left the lab and looked down at her new pokemon. "I think I'll call you Flare, do you like it?" The litten looked up at her and gave a happy meow. "I'll take that as a yes," she giggled. "Now, lets start our adventure!" Mirinae began their adventure as a pokemon trainer, her new pokemon trotting behind her.

Felix paced back and forward for a second, he wanted to have the zigzagoon in his team, but needed to lower their hp enough so he could catch it without making it faint. After some internal deliberation, he decided:

"Dash, use tackle again!"

the attack was critical and lowered the
hp of the wild pokemon almost all the
way down, leaving it just hanging on.

the pokemon was too weak to use
a move, and it flinched.

it looks like you can either end
the battle, or catch it.

people nearby try to catch the wild
pokemon, but most are unsuccessful..

though, there's one that sticks out,
a discolouration...

and it seems strayed from the flock,
eating on its own-like it's excluded...

Fortunately, Eva and her team had made it to the Traveling Taillow right on time, as there was only one more room left in the inn for the night. The friendly staff helped her check in, and once everything was squared away, she herded her three exhausted pokémon in the direction of their room.

The door unlocked with a click as she turned the key. Circuit had already fallen asleep, so Eva has to carry him in while a sleepy Marigold and bleary-eyed Neptune waddled inside after her. The room was very nice. Small, homely, and with plenty of sleeping spaces for three small pokémon, but even still... there was something a little off about the place. She shook herself of the feeling, and got to work with unpacking her toiletries. Best not to worry over nothing.

"Goodnight, kiddos," Eva said softly, smiling as she watched Neptune and Marigold curl up in one of the small beds together, falling asleep quickly. As she located her pajamas with a triumphant fist pump, a strange noise caught Eva’s attention. She stiffened, glancing around.

"Kiiiiiii," Neptune snored softly, draped over Marigold’s fluffy body. His little notes were cute, but they weren’t what she had heard. There was a quiet thump. Eva grabbed ahold of the nearest object, her backpack, and crept towards the source of the sound slowly. It was coming from the bathroom.

"Who is it?" she whispered, swinging open the bathroom door slowly. "Who’s there?” She flicked on the light, still wielding the backpack like a weapon. Startled by the sudden lighting, the creature in her bathtub let out a panicked yelp.

There was some sort of pokémon in her bathroom! But... what was it, and where on Earth had it come from?

note- wasn’t sure if I could decide what Pokémon it was, so I just left it ambiguous ^^

I nod and watch the maractus, thinking of what I would do after I lower it's hp to critical. "Alright. Rocky, scratch again!" Rocky squeaks then races at the opposing Pokemon, scratching it again with his claws before returning to me. I soon feel Jewels ball shakes a little, as if wanting to join the battle. I gently place a hand on it after glancing down at my hip, thinking 'Next battle is all yours, Jewel.' As if hearing my thoughts the ball stops trembling and goes still.
