“Both names are really quite cute.” Daisypup said. She wasn’t sure if she should speak anymore. She didn’t really have much to say. Instead she just sat and listened.

Duskpelt frowned, lowering herself away from him, "I-I don't know" she murmured, staring at the object in disbelief. She slowly brushed dirt from it, inspecting it further with a shaky paw.

It was just a fox skull.

She exhaled slowly, her eyes closing in relief as she stood up, blinking away the coming tears of her previous fear.

"It's-it's a fox skull" she murmured, kicking some dirt onto it to cover the horrific object that they'd clearly mistook for another thing.

Cindermist let out a sigh of relief, his body still shaking from shock. He watched as Duskpelt covered the animal's remains with dirt. "Are you alright?", the beta's voice was steady now, trying to provide comfort to his friend. He wondered why it had affected her so deeply. The male had always just assumed she was pack born because of her deep devotion she showed to the pack. Sure, it was a bit hypocritical to think this way when Cindermist, who loved his pack very dearly, had worked right alongside two-legs.

Lillysnap wagged her tail furiously excited to be going on such a high-stakes adventure. "Let's go then!" she yapped, springing toward the exit of the camp. Her heart seemed to skip a few beats at the thought of being out in the wide open spaces. And out of Thunderpack territory. How exciting!

Looking around Daisypup saw Lilysnap run towards the exit. I wonder when me and Nightpaw will go out again. Sure it’s fun in camp...but being out feels great. Like an adventure. Or like I’m doing apprentice stuff. She thought. But she remembered how Lilysnap had snapped at her and Nightpaw. That wasn’t very nice.

“Maybe a little. I mean Oreopup and Plumpup are lots of fun to look after. But unlike them I guess I don’t need as much of a nap.” Daisypup replied. Those pups were anything but boring to her. “Are you bored?” She asked. Daisypup was glad to have a friend like Nightpaw. Talking with him was never boring.

His ears twitched at the mention of a river. Although he'd like to argue the contrary, he was no strong swimmer. He could hardly hide his relief when Willowstep mentioned her discomfort with it, safely steering them away from that route option. Still, he yapped somewhat accusingly to none of his companions in particular, "We do remember that the Gathering is still a thing, right? Will we make it back in time for that? Velvetstar is annoying enough to ThunderPack without it missing ranks. She'll never let us live it down if we don't return before, like, tomorrow." He didn't know much about the ShadowPack alpha, Velvetstar, but he'd overheard some nasty rumors float around about her. They didn't scare him, of course, but they indicated that she'd still pose a threat to the Pack if she found out it was left vulnerable, without a leader or medicine dog.
