The Bubble attack connected with its target. Critical hit! As soon as the Grumpig collapsed, Neptune let out a jubilant cry. Eva, in turn, sighed audibly with relief.

"Ki, ki!" Neptune croaked, hopping over to where his trainer and the wild Eevee were kneeling on the side of the Route. The frog pokémon butted his head against his trainer's arm.

"That was amazing, Neptune!" Eva praised her partner. The Froakie puffed out his chest, and reached out to pat the Eevee on its flank comfortingly. Eevee seemed to like the contact, despite its hurting leg.

“Vee,” the fox pokémon in her lap agreed, purring softly. Eva smiled down at the two new friends, before an idea occured to her. With one free hand, she leaned over the pokémon in her lap to grab her bag, and shuffled around until she could find what she was looking for: a pokéball.

"Hey, little Eevee?" Eva began, going slow so as to give it the option to choose for itself. The Eevee looked up, making a soft, inquisitive sound. "Would you like to join our team?"

"Froak!" Neptune agreed, gesturing to the pokéball in his trainer's hands enthusiastically. She shook her head at his antics.

Eva held the pokéball out for Eevee to inspect. "We'd love to have you, me and Neptune both. But only if you're interested, of course."

She gently pet each of her pokemon, "Moon and Tears, you must be starving, help yourself to those treats over there!" She pointed over to where the lady signaled and then turned to Waterfall, Dizzie and Splash. They were running around the table playing a game of what seemed to be tag, poor Waterfall couldn't run that far at her size and was almost always 'it'. She always had the upper hand when she was 'it though, with her long neck and powerful Water gun she got them both at the end. Lizzie couldn't help herself from laughing.

"Alright, you three. I'm gonna see who I should do..." She looked around before drawing each of her pokemon on the table. "Waterfall." She decided, scratching the Lapras under her chin.

I would understand if you rather go back out to the wild but I wouldnt be able to stand knowing that I let you go back hurt the way you are." I pull out a pokeball from my bag and hold it out for the black bird. "What do you say?"

Still holding the engraved Master Ball in her hand, Bonni looked from the map to Zamazenta and back again. She reread the message one last time before handing the map back to Higgs, then walked slowly toward the legendary. "Is this really it, Zamazenta? Were you following us cause you knew we would find you?" she asked, even though she could guess the answer based on the script that was left on the map. But who did it belong to before...? That was a question for later, and perhaps for another adventure.

She looked up at Zamazenta again, unable to hide the disbelief on her face. "I promise, to you and your last owner, that I will look after you. You helped us after all! That is, if you want to join our team." Bonni held out the Master Ball, letting the Pokemon decide. Behind her, Skadi and Higgs seemed make noises of encouragement. "We'd all be happy to have you!" she added more confidently with her team supporting her.

the pokemon admires the respect
you have for allowing it to decide, and
so it nods once, a curt nod to indicate
it would like to come with you.

it's great heavy paws carry it to
walk in front of you, its bigger
frame bending its neck down to press
the tip of its nose to the tiny

then, it came back out of the ball
to properly greet you. bowing its head,
it encourages you to pet it while its
tail wags slowly, your two pokemon
excited with their new friend.

but what's this?

something new... a bracelet around
your wrist, one of the colours blue and
red with a sword and a sheild on it,
and looking closely, you see zamazenta
has a matching collar.

you are officially its trainer.

zamazenta has been added to the pokedex
and party at level 19.

the pokemon smiled, glad you were the
one to hatch it, and it seemed happy, but
then, it looked to moltres.

moltres seemed to love the little pokemon,
as if its own hatchling, and it cawed in
greeting.

Eva pressed the center button of the pokéball immediately to release Eevee. The little fox materialized before them once more, and although she leaned heavily to the right so as not to strain her aching leg, the Eevee still looked quite pleased. “Vee,” she yipped.

"I think Marigold would be a nice name for you," said Eva. The Eevee purred.

"Froak," Neptune croaked in response, hopping forwards immediately to nuzzle his teammate. In his haste, he nearly knocked her over. Marigold squeaked in surprise, but steadied herself and wagged her tail in excitement.

"Be gentle, now," Eva scolded, before offering them both a few pokébeans for the road. The two quickly began nibbling on the snacks. "We should start making our way to the next town," the trainer said. "Marigold's leg is still hurt, and I'd like her to get treatment at a PokéCenter. Plus, I've heard tell that there's a gym there, too. Perhaps we could challenge it, or just explore some more."

At the news that they wouldn't be staying on the route much longer, Neptune seemed to deflate. "Froooaaaaa," he whined, abandoning Marigold's side to tug on his trainer's pant leg. Marigold hobbled over, and gave her best puppy eyes.

"Don't worry, we can always train more on the way! There will be plenty of time for you two to play before we get there." she said reassuringly. The Eevee and Froakie seemed satisfied by this. "C'mon, team, let's go!"
