► another note is that snow leopard dragons (again, aside from special events) are restricted to Ice or Fire for their breath weapon. since you put your flight as living in the alpines, i gave you ice.

This flight is known for their 'bark', they appear loud and demanding.
Their bark is most definitely worse than their bite.
Although they train hard, they aren't very skilled in combat.
They would much rather create allies than enemies.
Some flights shy away due to their harsh appearance.

the Basileia - (meaning the "royal palace" or "kingdom" in ancient greek)

the ranks
⇀emperor & empress - the rulers/leaders of the flight, equivalent to a king/queen. typically the flight starts with only 1 ruler, but once they find their forever (mate) then they become a ruling pair with equal power.
⇀governor - the second in command of the flight, equivalent to a heir. if something were to happen to the emperor and/or empress, this is the dragon who would take control of leading the flight.
⇀shaman - the spiritual leader who has a strong connection to the ancestors (terra flight). this dragon also is known as the healer of the flight, with knowledge of medicine and herbs, etc.
⇀high stalker & high guardian - these are the dragons, one of each rank, that are considered a middle-class rank. they have power over their specific group of dragons within the flight, but still must obey their superiors.
⇀stalkers - equivalent to the hunters, these are the more agile/lithe dragons who are responsible for feeding the rest of the flight.
⇀guardians - equivalent to the defenders, these are the strong dragons who protect the flight at all costs, similar to fighters or warriors.
⇀recruit - these are the dragons between age 6 and 16 seasons of age who are in training to become one of the other ranks, equivalent to a cadet.
⇀godmother - these are the dragons who are caring for eggs or hatchlings, equivalent to broodmothers. they may or may not be the biological mothers of the young.
⇀hatchling - these are the young dragons, under 6 seasons of age, who are still living with their godmother and have not yet begun training as a recruit.
⇀superiors - equivalent to the ancients, these are the older dragons who are retired from regular duties. they are considered incredibly important to the flight due to their wisdom from their age.

the territory
⇁alpine & volcano - the basileia resides towards the northeast realm of the globe, with their territory primarily being alpine but with some hidden pockets of volcano. the flight's sleeping quarters and camp area is hidden deep inside the caverns of a mountain range that connects to a cavern in a dormant volcano (which from the outside just looks like a regular mountain). other species of dragons may occasionally be found & accepted into the flight, but they are less common.

personalities
it appears strange to some that they have such an odd pairing of dragons, those who love the heat and those who love the cold, but they balance each other out like yin and yang, allowing their flight to thrive to its best. they tend to be made up of a variety of personalities, with the alpine species being more reserved and closed off, and the volcano species being more emotional and outgoing.

the beliefs
all of the dragons in the basileia believe in the proɣonos, which is the ancestors or the dragons that have come before them and are now living within the stars. they also worship two primary gods, Hephaestus the god of fire & Chione the goddess of snow.

training skills
(each different type of recruit learns a different skillset)

The Waterlogged Cast is a group that mostly consists of water affiliated dragons. They are located up at the top right of the map, in the lake there. They get the collective name of "cast" from crabs, which the founder is particularly fond of; both as pets and snacks.

The Waterlogged can be described as frivolous and childish, as they tend to not dwell on a lot of things, and it's rare that one will be properly disciplined after doing something wrong. Unless it's a major problem, like someone is killing others, it's very unlikely that the King or Queen will take disciplinary action against anyone.

They are an easy target for potential attackers, but it's almost equivalent to attacking a brood of hatchlings. They'll even forgive you after, and offer you more of whatever you were trying to steal. They're a bunch of pacifists, and the Defenders are typically a lot weaker than most other Flights' are.

Instead of the Terra Flight, members of the Waterlogged put their beliefs in Aqua Flight. It's pretty much the same as Terra Flight in practice, but instead of burring the deceased, these dragons will fly their bodies out to the ocean, and let them sink to the bottom to join the Aqua Flight.

it wasn't supposed to be this way, it never was. celosia had been chosen at the young age of 16 seasons to become the governor of the basileia, with the empress & emperor telling her that they had been waiting for someone like her to come along, someone who truly loved the flight. they believed she would sacrifice everything for the flight, if necessary, and from the time she was just a hatchling, they said they could see the potential within her to rule the flight one day. celosia never expected it to happen while she was still so young though; she had been the governor for only 9 moons, training under the current ruling pair on the best ways to care for the flight. this loss was not only hard for the flight as a whole, but it was especially difficult for celosia because she considered them to be her parents. she had been found as an egg by the empress eira, who brought her back to their flight & her mate colden, and focused on raising her as their own, since they had never been able to produce a hatchling themselves.

but she had to be strong, or at the very least appear to be strong, for the remaining members of the flight. they had lost not only the emperor and empress, but also quite a few guardians to the same beasts. it was one of the times of year when werewolves roamed free, and there was a pack that resided near the edge of their flight territory. a group of dragons had gone to insure the beasts didn’t attempt to come any closer to the caves that the basileia called home. they stumbled across them right in the middle of a shift, when they are at their most volatile, and lives were lost on both sides during the fight.

knowing that she needed to make her first trip to the magma chamber; the heart of the volcano attached to their cavernous mountain, a place filled with smooth shiny black magma, and the only known place for the basileia to speak with the ancestors and/or the gods. slipping through the corridors, once she made her way into the volcanic tunnel she opened her wings and flew down, until her wings were so tired she could only glide, all the way to the bottom. landing heavily, she felt the black rock shake underneath her paws, forgetting how sensitive her adoptive parents always told her the molten rocks were. her eyes scanned the area, landing on the farthest corner, which had an almost warm glow radiating out of the wall, and so she approached it, feeling the warmth increase as she drew closer; not to an uncomfortable pressure though. taking a deep breath, she leaned forward, pressing her forehead against the shimmering rock that appeared to be pulsating various colors of red, orange, and yellow. and just like that, she fell unconscious.

as she came to again, her eyes opened in a realm she had never before experienced. at first, she thought she was surrounded by pure black darkness, but upon straining her eyes further, faint outlines made up of stars could be seen approaching her in all directions. however, before she could call out, she felt herself getting choked up as she spotted a pair approaching her, their tails intertwined with one another and kind smiles on their faces; the blizzard dragon was colden, and the molten dragon was eira. she felt like crying as she raced towards them, shocked that she actually felt their bodies as she pressed in between them. “mom, dad! oh I miss you so much, I’m not ready to rule without you yet. I’m too young, too inexperienced...” she looked down at their paws, recognizing that her own were practically half the side of her parents, but a deep chuckle brought her eyes back up to the former emperor and empress. it was colden’s deep voice that drew her gaze now; “my dear, your mother was only 22 seasons old when she became the sole empress of basileia, and I was only 30 seasons when she took me as her mate and I became the emperor. being young and inexperienced is a part of the job darling; as you grow, you will learn. and we will be here with you every step of the way, to answer questions and give support whenever we can.” his cool muzzle provided her a sense of comfort in its familiarity, and then it was her mothers turn to speak. “now, it is time for you to officially become empress in the eyes of the proɣonos.” the pair of starry creatures took a step back, and it was them that celosia realized that they were surrounded by a multitude of other starry dragons; the rest of the ancestors of their flight.

but coming up between her parents was a pair of mythical dragons whom she had never before seen, whose bodies were not faded with the stars but were as clear and bold as could be. she barely whispered out their names, practically in shock as she hardly remembered to bow, only at the prompting of her mother. “chione, Hephaestus. it is an honor.” the pair of mythical creatures shared a knowing look before smiling down at the young dragoness, who appeared only a quarter of their massive size. “young celosia, so it is time for you to join the ranks of all of the empress’ who came before you. stand tall young one, it is your moment.” the voice was soft and gentle, as the female’s Ivey blue eyes met her own in a comforting way, before the larger red-eyed male began to speak. “celosia, do you promise to uphold the laws of the basileia, to always respect the proɣonos, and to the do whatever it takes for your flight to prosper, even if that means laying down your own life in its defense?” the young black dragon felt so small at that moment, but did her best to stand tall, clearing her throat a bit before attempting to speak. “I swear it.” her voice did not waver or crack, although she felt like it was going to, and the large mythical male let the faintest hint of a smile curl up his maw. “then it is my pleasure to announce that from this day forward until you join us in the stars, you shall be known as empress celosia. do you have any requests of us, empress?” clearing her throat again to keep her voice firm, she made her request as confidently as she could; “a shaman, to aide me with their wisdom and to aid the basileia with their skills. please.” stepping forward again was the female mythical, and chione smiled at the young empress; “it is done child. return to your cave, the shaman shall join you soon.”
