mossypaw pressed against stealthvixen, hoping to calm the hysterical fox down. he shut his eyes tight, not wanting to look at the body of abstaining. he looked over to stripepaw, and his heart shattered upon seeing his look of shock. mossypaw then focused his attention to twistedthorn. "is there anything you can do for stealthvixen's shock? i can run and grab some poppy seeds, if that's what she needs. some cat needs to get honeystar." mossypaw wondered why his mentor hadn't come out of his den yet.

Vixenleap padded out of the nursery, confused. "What in Starclan's goin' on?!" She meowed. She padded around camp before she saw the body. "Is that..?" She mewed, quieter now. "How could this happen?" She hissed. her fluffy tail waved before spotting Stealthvixen. She blinked at the fox-elder before padding towards her. "What happened out there?" Her voice wasn't rude, the clan had no time for her snappy nature. Her voice was soft and worried. "Was it one of us? I didn't smell anything but the fox scent of you and another thunderclan cat I just couldn't put my claw on it..." She was lost in thought. She looked around. "I don't know..."

Kestrelfern jumped a little when Stealthvixen snapped at her. The she-cat quickly shook it off, though, as more important matters were at hand.
Noticing Mossypaw approach the scene, her ears perked up. "Yes, Mossypaw. Please get some poppy seeds, I trust you to care for her. I'll find Honeystar." Kestrelfern walked briskly towards the leader den, her tail sweeping from side to side in agitation. "Honeystar. There's been a murder," she called, her voice quivering at the last word in her sentence.

Honeystar’s ears perked as his deputy called his name. “Murder? What do you mean?” He stepped out of the den, surprised to see everyone moving quickly to a darkened spot in camp. He peaked around Kestrelfern, his eyes taking in the sight of his dead clan mate. His head whipped around. “Who did this? Who knows what happened?” He searches for his best friend, Spiderclaw. “Spiderclaw? Where is he? I need to speak with him.”

Spiderclaw hadn't found out about the murder yet, he was lying in his den, sound asleep still. He was a deep sleeper, and only woke up when he heard his name being called nearby. He grunted, trying to adjust to the light. "Hey, how come I wasn't awoken sooner?" He grumbled, a snort coming out as well. He hated mornings with all his being, probably scared a few cats with it as well as his deep voice.

there was a commotion going on--rosefeather could hear it from her den, cats murmuring amongst themselves, and the noticeable stench of death. upon exiting her den, she notices abstaining's body, flattened by monster footprints and further mangled from someone who had dragged him here. tch... he could've been treated better.

her clanmates were whispering 'murder', according to the snippets of conversation she'd picked up on--but she'd like to go look for herself. there was a path leading out of the den, in which the soil and grasses had been disturbed. that's the direction from where his body was found. perhaps i can find some indication of malicious intent if i follow that path.

Trying to hide the quaver in her voice, Kestrelfern explained to the leader as best she could. "When I woke up, there were many cats gathered over there," she mewed, gesturing to the small crowd that still hadn't dispersed, "And... Abstaining... he... he's no longer with us." The she-cat paused, taking a deep breath.
"Stealthvixen says she found him on the Thunderpath by Shadowclan, and he was already like this, and that she didn't know what happened. Mossypaw's fetching poppy seeds for her shock at the moment. Vixenleap... she thinks it was another cat that did it. She says there's another Thunderclan scent on his body... I can't believe that one of our own could do this, but I doubt Abstaining would be done in by a monster," she finished, hoping her explanation was clear even through her hazy state of mind.
