I'm sorry for the double post, but here's what's going on now:

The missing cats have returned!
In the midst of the fighting, some cats don't realize they're back.
The returned cats can join in the fighting or stay to the sides.
The cats with a strike on their name on the front can be killed.

Nettlepaw will announce what the message was eventually, but basically the missing cats were taken to the Everlasting Mountain and their bodies were kept there while they temporarily resided with Starclan. When the battle started, Starclan transported them back to the forest to help stop or fight along.

backstory; sparrowflight has lived a normal clan life, though the tension has always been high between him and the other clan as the result of his father being from shoreclan. sparrowflight constantly feels the need to prove himself and tries to do his very best as to improve his overall standing and relationships with others. he lacks the ability to swim therefore living in shoreclan would be a nightmare and he would prefer to live in summitclan either way because it was his mother's clan.

personality; he's a committed caring soul, but will kill another cat for his clanmates sake. he is skilled in climbing trees and maneuvering around interesting terrain, but if the cats were to get in a quarrel by the ocean, if he were pushed into the ocean he would perish. he has a soft spot for ignored/rejected apprentices as he knows what that life is like.

@Animals Which ones? The cats that are crossed out are the inactive ones, but I haven't checked recently for any new ones lol

@SilentMelody Oh thats what the crossed out names mean? I thought you said that means they are going to die in the battle.

@Animals Yes, they will die in battle :) I tried to tie it into the plot and those are also the characters that haven't been active so they can be killed off in the fighting. I have a personal list of active characters that will die in battle (like Waterowl and Blizzardcrow).
